신명기 14장

너희는 너희 하나님 여호와의 자녀니 죽은 자를 위하여 자기 몸을 베지 말며 눈썹 사이 이마 위의 털을 밀지 말라

풀이: 너희는 너희 신, 여호와의 자녀다. 죽은 사람을 애도한다고 너희 몸에 상처를 내거나, 이마 위 머리털을 밀지 마라.

Ye are the children of the Lord your God: ye shall not cut yourselves, nor make any baldness between your eyes for the dead.

너는 너의 하나님 여호와의 성민이라 여호와께서 지상 만민 중에서 너를 택하여 자기의 기업의 백성을 삼으셨느니라

풀이: 너는 너의 신, 여호와에게 속한 거룩한 백성이기 때문이다. 신은 땅 위 모든 민족 가운데서 너를 골라, 오직 자신만의 보배로운 백성으로 삼았다.

For thou art an holy people unto the Lord thy God, and the Lord hath chosen thee to be a peculiar people unto himself, above all the nations that are upon the earth.

너는 가증한 물건은 무엇이든지 먹지 말라

풀이: 역겨운 것은 그 무엇도 입에 대지 마라.

Thou shalt not eat any abominable thing.

너희의 먹을만한 짐승은 이러하니 곧 소와 양과 염소와

풀이: 너희가 먹어도 되는 짐승은 이러하다. 소와 양과 염소,

These are the beasts which ye shall eat: the ox, the sheep, and the goat,

사슴과 노루와 불그스럼한 사슴과 산 염소와 볼기 흰 노루와 뿔 긴 사슴과 산양들

풀이: 사슴과 노루와 누런 사슴과 들염소와 흰 엉덩이 영양과 들소와 산양이다.

The hart, and the roebuck, and the fallow deer, and the wild goat, and the pygarg, and the wild ox, and the chamois.

무릇 짐승 중에 굽이 갈라져 쪽발도 되고 새김질도 하는 것은 너희가 먹을 것이니라

풀이: 무릇 짐승 가운데 굽이 둘로 완전히 갈라지고 되새김질까지 하는 것은 먹어도 된다.

And every beast that parteth the hoof, and cleaveth the cleft into two claws, and cheweth the cud among the beasts, that ye shall eat.

다만 새김질을 하거나 굽이 갈라진 짐승 중에도 너희가 먹지 못할 것은 이것이니 곧 약대와 토끼와 사반 그것들은 새김질은 하나 굽이 갈라지지 아니하였으니 너희에게 부정하고

풀이: 다만 되새김질을 하거나 굽이 갈라진 것 가운데도 먹어서는 안 되는 것이 있다. 낙타와 토끼와 바위너구리는 되새김질은 하지만 굽이 갈라지지 않았으니, 너희에게 부정하다.

Nevertheless these ye shall not eat of them that chew the cud, or of them that divide the cloven hoof; as the camel, and the hare, and the coney: for they chew the cud, but divide not the hoof; therefore they are unclean unto you.

돼지는 굽은 갈라졌으나 새김질을 못하므로 너희에게 부정하니 너희는 이런 것의 고기를 먹지 말 것이며 그 사체도 만지지 말 것이니라

풀이: 돼지는 굽은 갈라졌으나 되새김질을 하지 않으니, 너희에게 부정하다. 그 고기를 먹지 말고, 그 주검에도 손대지 마라.

And the swine, because it divideth the hoof, yet cheweth not the cud, it is unclean unto you: ye shall not eat of their flesh, nor touch their dead carcase.

물에 있는 어족 중에 이런 것은 너희가 먹을 것이니 무릇 지느러미와 비늘 있는 것은 너희가 먹을 것이요

풀이: 물속에 사는 것 가운데 이런 것은 먹어도 된다. 지느러미와 비늘이 다 있는 것은 먹어도 된다.

These ye shall eat of all that are in the waters: all that have fins and scales shall ye eat:

무릇 지느러미와 비늘이 없는 것은 너희가 먹지 말찌니 이는 너희에게 부정하니라

풀이: 그러나 지느러미와 비늘이 없는 것은 먹지 마라. 그것은 너희에게 부정하다.

And whatsoever hath not fins and scales ye may not eat; it is unclean unto you.

무릇 정한 새는 너희가 먹으려니와

풀이: 정결한 새는 무엇이든 먹어도 된다.

Of all clean birds ye shall eat.

이런 것은 먹지 못할찌니 곧 독수리와 솔개와 어응과

풀이: 그러나 다음 것들은 먹지 마라. 독수리와 수염수리와 물수리,

But these are they of which ye shall not eat: the eagle, and the ossifrage, and the ospray,

매와 새매와 매의 종류와

풀이: 솔개와 매와 말똥가리 종류,

And the glede, and the kite, and the vulture after his kind,

까마귀 종류와

풀이: 까마귀 종류,

And every raven after his kind,

타조와 다호마스와 갈매기와 새매 종류와

풀이: 타조와 쏙독새와 갈매기와 새매 종류,

And the owl, and the night hawk, and the cuckow, and the hawk after his kind,

올빼미와 부엉이와 따오기와

풀이: 작은올빼미와 큰올빼미와 흰올빼미,

The little owl, and the great owl, and the swan,

당아와 올응과 노자와

풀이: 사다새와 너새와 가마우지,

And the pelican, and the gier eagle, and the cormorant,

학과 황새 종류와 대승과 박쥐며

풀이: 황새와 왜가리 종류와 후투티와 박쥐다.

And the stork, and the heron after her kind, and the lapwing, and the bat.

또 무릇 날기도 하고 기어다니기도 하는 것은 너희에게 부정하니 너희는 먹지 말 것이나

풀이: 날개가 있으면서 떼 지어 기어다니는 벌레도 너희에게 부정하니, 먹어서는 안 된다.

And every creeping thing that flieth is unclean unto you: they shall not be eaten.

무릇 정한 새는 너희가 먹을찌니라

풀이: 그러나 정결한 날짐승은 무엇이든 먹어도 된다.

But of all clean fowls ye may eat.

너희는 너희 하나님 여호와의 성민이라 무릇 스스로 죽은 것은 먹지 말 것이니 그것을 성중에 우거하는 객에게 주어 먹게 하거나 이방인에게 팔아도 가하니라 너는 염소 새끼를 그 어미의 젖에 삶지 말찌니라

풀이: 저절로 죽은 것은 먹지 마라. 그것은 너희 성안에 머무는 나그네에게 주어 먹게 하거나, 이방 사람에게 팔아도 된다. 너는 너의 신, 여호와에게 속한 거룩한 백성이기 때문이다. 새끼 염소를 그 어미의 젖에 삶지 마라.

Ye shall not eat of any thing that dieth of itself: thou shalt give it unto the stranger that is in thy gates, that he may eat it; or thou mayest sell it unto an alien: for thou art an holy people unto the Lord thy God. Thou shalt not seethe a kid in his mother’s milk.

너는 마땅히 매년에 토지 소산의 십일조를 드릴것이며

풀이: 너는 해마다 밭에서 거둔 소출에서 꼭 10분의 1을 떼어 두어라.

Thou shalt truly tithe all the increase of thy seed, that the field bringeth forth year by year.

네 하나님 여호와 앞 곧 여호와께서 그 이름을 두시려고 택하신 곳에서 네 곡식과 포도주와 기름의 십일조를 먹으며 또 네 우양의 처음 난 것을 먹고 네 하나님 여호와 경외하기를 항상 배울 것이니라

풀이: 그리고 너의 신, 여호와가 자기 이름을 두려고 고른 그곳에서, 네 곡식과 포도주와 기름의 10분의 1과 네 소 떼와 양 떼의 맏배를 그분 앞에서 먹어라. 그리하여 너의 신, 여호와를 늘 경외하기를 배우게 된다.

And thou shalt eat before the Lord thy God, in the place which he shall choose to place his name there, the tithe of thy corn, of thy wine, and of thine oil, and the firstlings of thy herds and of thy flocks; that thou mayest learn to fear the Lord thy God always.

그러나 네 하나님 여호와께서 그 이름을 두시려고 택하신 곳이 네게서 너무 멀고 행로가 어려워서 그 풍부히 주신 것을 가지고 갈 수 없거든

풀이: 그러나 너의 신, 여호와가 복을 내려 거둔 것이 너무 많은데, 그분이 자기 이름을 두려고 고른 곳이 너무 멀어 길이 벅차서 그것을 다 지고 갈 수 없거든,

And if the way be too long for thee, so that thou art not able to carry it; or if the place be too far from thee, which the Lord thy God shall choose to set his name there, when the Lord thy God hath blessed thee:

그것을 돈으로 바꾸어 그 돈을 싸서 가지고 네 하나님 여호와의 택하신 곳으로 가서

풀이: 그것을 돈으로 바꾸어, 그 돈을 손에 꼭 싸 쥐고 너의 신, 여호와가 고른 곳으로 가거라.

Then shalt thou turn it into money, and bind up the money in thine hand, and shalt go unto the place which the Lord thy God shall choose:

무릇 네 마음에 좋아하는 것을 그 돈으로 사되 우양이나 포도주나 독주등 무릇 네 마음에 원하는 것을 구하고 거기 네 하나님 여호와의 앞에서 너와 네 권속이 함께 먹고 즐거워할 것이며

풀이: 그곳에서 그 돈으로 네 마음이 당기는 것은 무엇이든 사라. 소든 양이든 포도주든 독한 술이든, 네가 원하는 것이면 무엇이든. 그리고 거기 너의 신, 여호와 앞에서 너와 네 식구가 함께 먹고 즐거워하여라.

And thou shalt bestow that money for whatsoever thy soul lusteth after, for oxen, or for sheep, or for wine, or for strong drink, or for whatsoever thy soul desireth: and thou shalt eat there before the Lord thy God, and thou shalt rejoice, thou, and thine household,

네 성읍에 거하는 레위인은 너의 중에 분깃이나 기업이 없는 자니 또한 저버리지 말찌니라

풀이: 그리고 네 성안에 사는 레위 사람을 저버리지 마라. 그는 너희와 함께 나눌 몫도, 물려받을 땅도 없는 사람이다.

And the Levite that is within thy gates; thou shalt not forsake him; for he hath no part nor inheritance with thee.

매 삼년 끝에 그 해 소산의 십분 일을 다 내어 네 성읍에 저축하여

풀이: 3년이 끝날 때마다, 그해에 거둔 소출의 10분의 1을 다 가져다가 네 성안에 쌓아 두어라.

At the end of three years thou shalt bring forth all the tithe of thine increase the same year, and shalt lay it up within thy gates:

너의 중에 분깃이나 기업이 없는 레위인과 네 성중에 우거하는 객과 및 고아와 과부들로 와서 먹어 배부르게 하라 그리하면 네 하나님 여호와께서 너의 손으로 하는 범사에 네게 복을 주시리라

풀이: 그러면 너희와 함께 나눌 몫도 물려받을 땅도 없는 레위 사람과, 네 성안의 나그네와 고아와 과부가 와서 먹고 배부르게 될 것이다. 그리하면 네가 손으로 하는 모든 일에 너의 신, 여호와가 복을 내릴 것이다.

And the Levite, (because he hath no part nor inheritance with thee,) and the stranger, and the fatherless, and the widow, which are within thy gates, shall come, and shall eat and be satisfied; that the Lord thy God may bless thee in all the work of thine hand which thou doest.
