신명기 15장

매 칠년 끝에 면제하라

풀이: 7년이 끝날 때마다, 너는 빚을 놓아주어라.

At the end of every seven years thou shalt make a release.

면제의 규례는 이러하니라 무릇 그 이웃에게 꾸어준 채주는 그것을 면제하고 그 이웃에게나 그 형제에게 독촉하지 말지니 이 해는 여호와의 면제년이라 칭함이니라

풀이: 놓아주는 방식은 이렇다. 이웃에게 무언가를 빌려준 사람은 누구나 그 빚을 풀어 주어라. 이웃에게든 형제에게든 갚으라고 다그치지 마라. 이 해는 신의 이름으로 빚을 놓아주는 해이기 때문이다.

And this is the manner of the release: Every creditor that lendeth ought unto his neighbour shall release it; he shall not exact it of his neighbour, or of his brother; because it is called the Lord’s release.

이방인에게는 네가 독촉하려니와 네 형제에게 꾸인 것은 네 손에서 면제하라

풀이: 이방인에게는 갚으라고 해도 된다. 그러나 네 형제에게 빌려준 것은 네 손에서 놓아주어라.

Of a foreigner thou mayest exact it again: but that which is thine with thy brother thine hand shall release;

네가 만일 네 하나님 여호와의 말씀만 듣고 내가 오늘날 네게 명하는 그 명령을 다 지켜 행하면 네 하나님 여호와께서 네게 유업으로 주신 땅에서 네가 정녕 복을 받으리니 너희 중에 가난한 자가 없으리라

풀이: 그러면 너희 가운데 가난한 사람이 없을 것이다. 신이 유산으로 주어 차지하게 한 그 땅에서, 신이 너에게 듬뿍 복을 내릴 것이기 때문이다.

Save when there shall be no poor among you; for the Lord shall greatly bless thee in the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee for an inheritance to possess it:

(4절에 포함되어 있음)

풀이: 다만 네가 신의 목소리에 귀 기울여, 오늘 내가 명하는 이 모든 계명을 마음 써 지킬 때 그렇다.

Only if thou carefully hearken unto the voice of the Lord thy God, to observe to do all these commandments which I command thee this day.

네 하나님 여호와께서 네게 허락하신 대로 네게 복을 주시리니 네가 여러 나라에 꾸어 줄지라도 너는 꾸지 아니하겠고 네가 여러 나라를 치리할지라도 너는 치리함을 받지 아니하리라

풀이: 신이 약속한 대로 너에게 복을 줄 것이다. 너는 여러 민족에게 꾸어 주되 빌리지는 않을 것이고, 여러 민족을 다스리되 그들에게 다스림받지는 않을 것이다.

For the Lord thy God blesseth thee, as he promised thee: and thou shalt lend unto many nations, but thou shalt not borrow; and thou shalt reign over many nations, but they shall not reign over thee.

네 하나님 여호와께서 네게 주신 땅 어느 성읍에서든지 가난한 형제가 너와 함께 거하거든 그 가난한 형제에게 네 마음을 강퍅히 하지 말며 네 손을 움켜 쥐지 말고

풀이: 신이 주는 땅, 그 어느 성읍에서든 가난한 형제가 너와 함께 산다면, 그 가난한 형제 앞에서 마음을 모질게 닫지 말고 손을 움켜쥐지 마라.

If there be among you a poor man of one of thy brethren within any of thy gates in thy land which the Lord thy God giveth thee, thou shalt not harden thine heart, nor shut thine hand from thy poor brother:

반드시 네 손을 그에게 펴서 그 요구하는대로 쓸 것을 넉넉히 꾸어주라

풀이: 오히려 그에게 손을 활짝 펴라. 그가 무엇이 모자라든, 필요한 만큼 넉넉히 꾸어 주어라.

But thou shalt open thine hand wide unto him, and shalt surely lend him sufficient for his need, in that which he wanteth.

삼가 너는 마음에 악념을 품지 말라 곧 이르기를 제 칠년 면제년이 가까왔다 하고 네 궁핍한 형제에게 악한 눈을 들고 아무것도 주지 아니하면 그가 너를 여호와께 호소하리니 네가 죄를 얻을 것이라

풀이: 조심하여라, 마음속에 못된 셈을 품지 않도록. '7년째, 빚 놓아주는 해가 가까웠다' 하고 궁핍한 형제를 인색한 눈으로 흘기며 아무것도 주지 않으면, 그가 너를 두고 신에게 부르짖을 것이고, 그것이 네 죄가 된다.

Beware that there be not a thought in thy wicked heart, saying, The seventh year, the year of release, is at hand; and thine eye be evil against thy poor brother, and thou givest him nought; and he cry unto the Lord against thee, and it be sin unto thee.

너는 반드시 그에게 구제할 것이요, 구제할 때에는 아끼는 마음을 품지 말 것이니라 이로 인하여 네 하나님 여호와께서 네 범사와 네 손으로 하는바에 네게 복을 주시리라

풀이: 반드시 그에게 주어라. 줄 때 마음을 아까워하지 마라. 바로 그 일로 신이 네가 하는 모든 일, 네 손이 닿는 모든 것에 복을 줄 것이다.

Thou shalt surely give him, and thine heart shall not be grieved when thou givest unto him: because that for this thing the Lord thy God shall bless thee in all thy works, and in all that thou puttest thine hand unto.

땅에는 언제든지 가난한 자가 그치지 아니하겠으므로 내가 네게 명하여 이르노니 너는 반드시 네 경내 네 형제의 곤란한 자와 궁핍한 자에게 네 손을 펼지니라

풀이: 이 땅에서 가난한 사람이 영영 사라지는 일은 없을 것이다. 그래서 내가 너에게 명한다 — 네 땅의 형제, 곤궁하고 궁핍한 이에게 반드시 손을 활짝 펴라.

For the poor shall never cease out of the land: therefore I command thee, saying, Thou shalt open thine hand wide unto thy brother, to thy poor, and to thy needy, in thy land.

네 동족 히브리 남자나 히브리 여자가 네게 팔렸다 하자 만일 육년을 너를 섬겼거든 제 칠년에 너는 그를 놓아 자유하게 할 것이요

풀이: 네 동족인 히브리 남자나 히브리 여자가 너에게 팔려 와 6년을 섬겼거든, 7년째에는 그를 풀어 자유롭게 보내 주어라.

And if thy brother, an Hebrew man, or an Hebrew woman, be sold unto thee, and serve thee six years; then in the seventh year thou shalt let him go free from thee.

그를 놓아 자유하게 할 때에는 공수로 가게 하지 말고

풀이: 그를 풀어 자유롭게 보낼 때, 빈손으로 떠나보내지 마라.

And when thou sendest him out free from thee, thou shalt not let him go away empty:

네 양 무리 중에서와 타작 마당에서와 포도주 틀에서 그에게 후히 줄지니 곧 네 하나님 여호와께서 네게 복을 주신대로 그에게 줄지니라

풀이: 네 양 떼에서, 타작마당에서, 포도주 틀에서 그에게 듬뿍 안겨 주어라. 신이 너에게 복 준 그만큼, 그에게 나눠 주어라.

Thou shalt furnish him liberally out of thy flock, and out of thy floor, and out of thy winepress: of that wherewith the Lord thy God hath blessed thee thou shalt give unto him.

너는 애굽 땅에서 종 되었던 것과 네 하나님 여호와께서 너를 속하셨음을 기억하라 그를 인하여 내가 오늘날 이같이 네게 명하노라

풀이: 너도 이집트 땅에서 종이었고, 신이 너를 속량해 풀어 주었음을 기억하여라. 그래서 내가 오늘 너에게 이렇게 명하는 것이다.

And thou shalt remember that thou wast a bondman in the land of Egypt, and the Lord thy God redeemed thee: therefore I command thee this thing to day.

종이 만일 너와 네 집을 사랑하므로 너와 동거하기를 좋게 여겨 네게 향하여 내가 주인을 떠나지 아니하겠노라 하거든

풀이: 그런데 그 종이 너와 네 집을 사랑하여, 너와 함께 사는 것이 좋다며 '주인을 떠나지 않겠다'고 한다면,

And it shall be, if he say unto thee, I will not go away from thee; because he loveth thee and thine house, because he is well with thee;

송곳을 취하여 그의 귀를 문에 대고 뚫으라 그리하면 그가 영영히 네 종이 되리라 네 여종에게도 일례로 할찌니라

풀이: 송곳을 가져다 그의 귀를 문에 대고 뚫어라. 그러면 그가 영영 네 종이 된다. 여종에게도 똑같이 하여라.

Then thou shalt take an aul, and thrust it through his ear unto the door, and he shall be thy servant for ever. And also unto thy maidservant thou shalt do likewise.

그가 육년 동안에 품군의 삯의 배나 받을만큼 너를 섬겼은즉 너는 그를 놓아 자유하게 하기를 어렵게 여기지 말라 그리하면 네 하나님 여호와께서 너의 범사에 네게 복을 주시리라

풀이: 그를 풀어 자유롭게 보내는 일을 아깝게 여기지 마라. 그는 6년 동안 품꾼 둘의 삯에 맞먹게 너를 섬겼다. 그리하면 신이 네가 하는 모든 일에 복을 줄 것이다.

It shall not seem hard unto thee, when thou sendest him away free from thee; for he hath been worth a double hired servant to thee, in serving thee six years: and the Lord thy God shall bless thee in all that thou doest.

너의 우양의 처음 난 수컷은 구별하여 네 하나님 여호와께 드릴 것이니 네 소의 첫 새끼는 부리지 말고 네 양의 첫 새끼의 털은 깎지 말고

풀이: 소 떼와 양 떼에서 처음 난 수컷은 따로 구별하여 신에게 바쳐라. 소의 첫 새끼는 일을 시키지 말고, 양의 첫 새끼는 털을 깎지 마라.

All the firstling males that come of thy herd and of thy flock thou shalt sanctify unto the Lord thy God: thou shalt do no work with the firstling of thy bullock, nor shear the firstling of thy sheep.

너와 네 가족이 매년에 여호와의 택하신 곳 네 하나님 여호와 앞에서 먹을찌니라

풀이: 해마다 신이 택한 그곳에서, 신 앞에서 너와 네 식구가 그것을 먹어라.

Thou shalt eat it before the Lord thy God year by year in the place which the Lord shall choose, thou and thy household.

그러나 그 짐승이 흠이 있어서 절거나 눈이 멀었거나 무슨 흠이 있든지 네 하나님 여호와께 잡아 드리지 못할찌니

풀이: 그러나 그 짐승에게 흠이 있어 다리를 절거나 눈이 멀었거나 그 밖에 무슨 나쁜 흠이라도 있으면, 신에게 잡아 바치지 마라.

And if there be any blemish therein, as if it be lame, or blind, or have any ill blemish, thou shalt not sacrifice it unto the Lord thy God.

네 성중에서 먹되 부정한 자나 정한 자가 다 같이 먹기를 노루와 사슴을 먹음 같이 할 것이요

풀이: 그런 것은 네 성안에서 먹어라. 부정한 사람이든 정결한 사람이든 가리지 않고, 노루나 사슴 고기를 먹듯 함께 먹으면 된다.

Thou shalt eat it within thy gates: the unclean and the clean person shall eat it alike, as the roebuck, and as the hart.

오직 피는 먹지 말고 물 같이 땅에 쏟을찌니라

풀이: 다만 피는 먹지 마라. 물을 쏟듯 땅에 부어라.

Only thou shalt not eat the blood thereof; thou shalt pour it upon the ground as water.
