레위기 11장

여호와께서 모세와 아론에게 고하여 그들에게 이르시되

풀이: 신이 모세와 아론에게 일렀다.

And the Lord spake unto Moses and to Aaron, saying unto them,

이스라엘 자손에게 고하여 이르라 육지 모든 짐승중 너희의 먹을만한 생물은 이러하니

풀이: 이스라엘 백성에게 전하여라. 땅 위에 사는 모든 짐승 가운데 너희가 먹어도 되는 것은 이러하다.

Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, These are the beasts which ye shall eat among all the beasts that are on the earth.

짐승중 무릇 굽이 갈라져 쪽발이 되고 새김질하는 것은 너희가 먹되

풀이: 짐승 가운데 굽이 두 쪽으로 완전히 갈라지고, 되새김질까지 하는 것은 먹어도 된다.

Whatsoever parteth the hoof, and is clovenfooted, and cheweth the cud, among the beasts, that shall ye eat.

새김질하는 것이나 굽이 갈라진 짐승 중에도 너희가 먹지 못할 것은 이러하니 약대는 새김질은 하되 굽이 갈라지지 아니하였으므로 너희에게 부정하고

풀이: 그러나 되새김질을 하더라도, 또는 굽이 갈라졌더라도, 둘 중 하나만 갖춘 것은 먹어선 안 된다. 낙타는 되새김질은 하지만 굽이 갈라지지 않았으니 너희에게 부정하다.

Nevertheless these shall ye not eat of them that chew the cud, or of them that divide the hoof: as the camel, because he cheweth the cud, but divideth not the hoof; he is unclean unto you.

사반도 새김질은 하되 굽이 갈라지지 아니하였으므로 너희에게 부정하고

풀이: 바위너구리도 되새김질은 하지만 굽이 갈라지지 않았으니 너희에게 부정하다.

And the coney, because he cheweth the cud, but divideth not the hoof; he is unclean unto you.

토끼도 새김질은 하되 굽이 갈라지지 아니하였으므로 너희에게 부정하고

풀이: 산토끼도 되새김질은 하지만 굽이 갈라지지 않았으니 너희에게 부정하다.

And the hare, because he cheweth the cud, but divideth not the hoof; he is unclean unto you.

돼지는 굽이 갈라져 쪽발이로되 새김질을 못하므로 너희에게 부정하니

풀이: 돼지는 굽이 두 쪽으로 갈라졌지만 되새김질을 하지 않으니 너희에게 부정하다.

And the swine, though he divide the hoof, and be clovenfooted, yet he cheweth not the cud; he is unclean to you.

너희는 이 고기를 먹지 말고 그 주검도 만지지 말라 이것들은 너희에게 부정하니라

풀이: 이런 짐승은 고기를 먹지도 말고, 그 주검에 손대지도 마라. 너희에게 부정한 것들이다.

Of their flesh shall ye not eat, and their carcase shall ye not touch; they are unclean to you.

물에 있는 모든 것중 너희의 먹을만한 것은 이것이니 무릇 강과 바다와 다른 물에 있는 것 중에 지느러미와 비늘 있는 것은 너희가 먹되

풀이: 물속에 사는 모든 것 가운데 너희가 먹어도 되는 것은 이러하다. 바다든 강이든, 물에 사는 것 중에 지느러미와 비늘이 둘 다 있는 것은 먹어도 된다.

These shall ye eat of all that are in the waters: whatsoever hath fins and scales in the waters, in the seas, and in the rivers, them shall ye eat.

무릇 물에서 동하는 것과 무릇 물에서 사는 것 곧 무릇 강과 바다에 있는 것으로서 지느러미와 비늘 없는 것은 너희에게 가증한 것이라

풀이: 그러나 바다든 강이든, 물에서 움직이며 사는 것 가운데 지느러미와 비늘이 없는 것은 너희가 혐오할 것들이다.

And all that have not fins and scales in the seas, and in the rivers, of all that move in the waters, and of any living thing which is in the waters, they shall be an abomination unto you:

이들은 너희에게 가증한 것이니 너희는 그 고기를 먹지 말고 그 주검을 가증히 여기라

풀이: 그것들은 너희에게 혐오스러운 것이니, 그 고기를 먹지 말고 그 주검도 역겨운 것으로 여겨라.

They shall be even an abomination unto you; ye shall not eat of their flesh, but ye shall have their carcases in abomination.

수중 생물에 지느러미와 비늘 없는 것은 너희에게 가증하니라

풀이: 물속에 사는 것 중에 지느러미와 비늘이 없는 것은 모두 너희에게 혐오스러운 것이다.

Whatsoever hath no fins nor scales in the waters, that shall be an abomination unto you.

새 중에 너희가 가증히 여길 것은 이것이라 이것들이 가증한즉 먹지 말찌니 곧 독수리와 솔개와 어응과

풀이: 새 가운데 너희가 혐오하여 먹어선 안 되는 것은 이러하다. 독수리와 수염수리와 물수리,

And these are they which ye shall have in abomination among the fowls; they shall not be eaten, they are an abomination: the eagle, and the ossifrage, and the ospray,

매와 매 종류와

풀이: 솔개와 각종 매,

And the vulture, and the kite after his kind;

까마귀 종류와

풀이: 각종 까마귀,

Every raven after his kind;

타조와 다호마스와 갈매기와 새매 종류와

풀이: 타조와 쏙독새와 갈매기와 각종 새매,

And the owl, and the night hawk, and the cuckow, and the hawk after his kind,

올빼미와 노자와 부엉이와

풀이: 올빼미와 가마우지와 부엉이,

And the little owl, and the cormorant, and the great owl,

따오기와 당아와 올응과

풀이: 흰올빼미와 사다새와 너새,

And the swan, and the pelican, and the gier eagle,

학과 황새 종류와 대승과 박쥐니라

풀이: 황새와 각종 왜가리, 후투티와 박쥐다.

And the stork, the heron after her kind, and the lapwing, and the bat.

날개가 있고 네 발로 기어 다니는 곤충은 너희에게 가증하되

풀이: 네 발로 기어 다니는 날벌레는 모두 너희에게 혐오스러운 것이다.

All fowls that creep, going upon all four, shall be an abomination unto you.

오직 날개가 있고 네 발로 기어다니는 모든 곤충 중에 그 발에 뛰는 다리가 있어서 땅에서 뛰는 것은 너희가 먹을찌니

풀이: 다만 네 발로 기어 다니는 날벌레 중에도, 발 위에 따로 뛰는 다리가 있어 땅에서 뛰어오르는 것은 먹어도 된다.

Yet these may ye eat of every flying creeping thing that goeth upon all four, which have legs above their feet, to leap withal upon the earth;

곧 그중에 메뚜기 종류와 베짱이 종류와 귀뚜라미 종류와 팟종이 종류는 너희가 먹으려니와

풀이: 곧 각종 메뚜기와 각종 방아깨비, 각종 귀뚜라미와 각종 팥중이는 먹어도 된다.

Even these of them ye may eat; the locust after his kind, and the bald locust after his kind, and the beetle after his kind, and the grasshopper after his kind.

오직 날개가 있고 기어다니는 곤충은 다 너희에게 가증하니라

풀이: 그 밖에 날개가 있고 기어 다니는 벌레는 모두 너희에게 혐오스러운 것이다.

But all other flying creeping things, which have four feet, shall be an abomination unto you.

이런 유는 너희를 부정케 하나니 누구든지 이것들의 주검을 만지면 저녁까지 부정할 것이며

풀이: 다음 것들은 너희를 부정하게 만든다. 누구든 그 주검에 손대면 저녁까지 부정하고,

And for these ye shall be unclean: whosoever toucheth the carcase of them shall be unclean until the even.

무릇 그 주검을 옮기는 자는 그 옷을 빨찌니 저녁까지 부정하리라

풀이: 그 주검을 옮긴 사람은 옷을 빨아야 하며 저녁까지 부정하다.

And whosoever beareth ought of the carcase of them shall wash his clothes, and be unclean until the even.

무릇 굽이 갈라진 짐승 중에 쪽발이 아닌 것이나 새김질 아니하는 것의 주검은 다 네게 부정하니 만지는 자는 부정할 것이요

풀이: 굽이 갈라졌으나 완전히 두 쪽이 아니거나 되새김질을 하지 않는 짐승은 모두 너희에게 부정하니, 그 주검에 손대는 사람은 부정해진다.

The carcases of every beast which divideth the hoof, and is not clovenfooted, nor cheweth the cud, are unclean unto you: every one that toucheth them shall be unclean.

네 발로 다니는 모든 짐승 중 발바닥으로 다니는 것은 다 네게 부정하니 그 주검을 만지는 자는 저녁까지 부정할 것이며

풀이: 네발짐승 가운데 발바닥으로 걷는 것은 모두 너희에게 부정하니, 그 주검에 손대는 사람은 저녁까지 부정하고,

And whatsoever goeth upon his paws, among all manner of beasts that go on all four, those are unclean unto you: whoso toucheth their carcase shall be unclean until the even.

그 주검을 옮기는 자는 그 옷을 빨찌니 저녁까지 부정하리라 그것들이 네게 부정하니라

풀이: 그 주검을 옮긴 사람은 옷을 빨아야 하며 저녁까지 부정하다. 이것들은 너희에게 부정한 것이다.

And he that beareth the carcase of them shall wash his clothes, and be unclean until the even: they are unclean unto you.

땅에 기는바 기는 것 중에 네게 부정한 것은 이러하니 곧 쪽제비와 쥐와 도마뱀 종류와

풀이: 땅에 기어 다니는 것 가운데 너희에게 부정한 것은 이러하다. 두더지와 쥐와 각종 큰도마뱀,

These also shall be unclean unto you among the creeping things that creep upon the earth; the weasel, and the mouse, and the tortoise after his kind,

합개와 육지 악어와 수궁과 사막 도마뱀과 칠면석척이라

풀이: 도마뱀붙이와 육지 악어와 도마뱀과 사막도마뱀과 카멜레온이다.

And the ferret, and the chameleon, and the lizard, and the snail, and the mole.

모든 기는 것 중 이것들은 네게 부정하니 무릇 그 주검을 만지는 자는 저녁까지 부정할 것이며

풀이: 기어 다니는 것 가운데 이것들은 너희에게 부정하다. 그것들이 죽은 뒤 그 주검에 손대는 사람은 저녁까지 부정하다.

These are unclean to you among all that creep: whosoever doth touch them, when they be dead, shall be unclean until the even.

이런 것 중 어떤 것의 주검이 목기에든지 의복에든지 가죽에든지 부대에든지 무론 무엇에 쓰는 그릇에든지 떨어지면 부정하여지리니 물에 담그라 저녁까지 부정하다가 정할 것이며

풀이: 그것들 가운데 어느 하나의 주검이 무엇 위에든 떨어지면, 그것은 부정해진다. 나무 그릇이든 옷이든 가죽이든 자루든, 무슨 일에 쓰는 그릇이든 다 물에 담가야 하며, 저녁까지 부정하다가 그제야 깨끗해진다.

And upon whatsoever any of them, when they are dead, doth fall, it shall be unclean; whether it be any vessel of wood, or raiment, or skin, or sack, whatsoever vessel it be, wherein any work is done, it must be put into water, and it shall be unclean until the even; so it shall be cleansed.

그것 중 어떤 것이 어느 질그릇에 떨어지면 그 속에 있는 것이 다 부정하여지나니 너는 그 그릇을 깨뜨리라

풀이: 그것들 가운데 하나가 질그릇 안에 떨어지면, 그 안에 든 것이 모두 부정해진다. 그 그릇은 깨뜨려야 한다.

And every earthen vessel, whereinto any of them falleth, whatsoever is in it shall be unclean; and ye shall break it.

먹을만한 축축한 식물이 거기 담겼으면 부정하여질 것이요 그같은 그릇의 마실만한 마실 것도 부정할 것이며

풀이: 그 그릇의 물이 닿은 음식은 부정해지고, 그런 그릇에 담긴 마실 것도 모두 부정해진다.

Of all meat which may be eaten, that on which such water cometh shall be unclean: and all drink that may be drunk in every such vessel shall be unclean.

이런 것의 주검이 물건 위에 떨어지면 그것이 모두 부정하여지리니 화덕이든지 질탕관이든지 깨뜨려버리라 이것이 부정하여져서 너희에게 부정한 것이 되리라

풀이: 그것들의 주검이 어떤 물건 위에 떨어지면 그 물건은 부정해진다. 화덕이든 화로든 모두 헐어 버려라. 그것들은 부정하니, 너희에게 부정한 것으로 남는다.

And every thing whereupon any part of their carcase falleth shall be unclean; whether it be oven, or ranges for pots, they shall be broken down: for they are unclean, and shall be unclean unto you.

샘물이나 방축물 웅덩이는 부정하여지지 아니하되 그 주검에 다닥치는 것만 부정하여질 것이요

풀이: 다만 샘이나 물이 고인 웅덩이는 부정해지지 않는다. 그러나 그 주검에 직접 닿은 것은 부정해진다.

Nevertheless a fountain or pit, wherein there is plenty of water, shall be clean: but that which toucheth their carcase shall be unclean.

이것들의 주검이 심을 종자에 떨어질찌라도 그것이 정하거니와

풀이: 그것들의 주검이 뿌릴 씨앗 위에 떨어져도, 그 씨앗은 깨끗하다.

And if any part of their carcase fall upon any sowing seed which is to be sown, it shall be clean.

종자에 물을 더할 때에 그것이 그 위에 떨어지면 너희에게 부정하리라

풀이: 그러나 씨앗에 물을 부은 뒤에 그 주검이 떨어지면, 그 씨앗은 너희에게 부정해진다.

But if any water be put upon the seed, and any part of their carcase fall thereon, it shall be unclean unto you.

너희의 먹을만한 짐승이 죽은 때에 그 사체를 만지는 자는 저녁까지 부정할 것이며

풀이: 너희가 먹어도 되는 짐승이라도 그것이 죽었을 때, 그 주검에 손대는 사람은 저녁까지 부정하다.

And if any beast, of which ye may eat, die; he that toucheth the carcase thereof shall be unclean until the even.

그것을 먹는 자는 그 옷을 빨 것이요 저녁까지 부정할 것이며 그 주검을 옮기는 자도 그 옷을 빨 것이요 저녁까지 부정하리라

풀이: 그 주검을 먹은 사람은 옷을 빨아야 하며 저녁까지 부정하고, 그 주검을 옮긴 사람도 옷을 빨아야 하며 저녁까지 부정하다.

And he that eateth of the carcase of it shall wash his clothes, and be unclean until the even: he also that beareth the carcase of it shall wash his clothes, and be unclean until the even.

땅에 기어 다니는 모든 기는 것은 가증한즉 먹지 못할찌니

풀이: 땅에 기어 다니는 모든 기는 것은 혐오스러운 것이니 먹어선 안 된다.

And every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth shall be an abomination; it shall not be eaten.

곧 땅에 기어다니는 모든 기는 것 중에 배로 밀어 다니는 것이나 네 발로 걷는 것이나 여러 발을 가진 것이라 너희가 먹지 말찌니 이는 가증함이니라

풀이: 배로 밀어 다니는 것이든, 네 발로 걷는 것이든, 발이 여럿인 것이든, 땅에 기어 다니는 모든 기는 것은 먹지 마라. 혐오스러운 것이다.

Whatsoever goeth upon the belly, and whatsoever goeth upon all four, or whatsoever hath more feet among all creeping things that creep upon the earth, them ye shall not eat; for they are an abomination.

너희는 기는바 기어다니는 것을 인하여 자기로 가증하게 되게 말며 또한 그것을 인하여 스스로 더럽혀 부정하게 되게 말라

풀이: 기어 다니는 어떤 것으로도 너희 자신을 혐오스럽게 만들지 말고, 그것들로 스스로를 더럽혀 부정하게 하지 마라.

Ye shall not make yourselves abominable with any creeping thing that creepeth, neither shall ye make yourselves unclean with them, that ye should be defiled thereby.

나는 여호와 너희 하나님이라 내가 거룩하니 너희도 몸을 구별하여 거룩하게 하고 땅에 기는바 기어다니는 것으로 인하여 스스로 더럽히지 말라

풀이: 나는 너희의 신이다. 그러니 너희는 자신을 거룩하게 구별하여 거룩해져라. 내가 거룩하기 때문이다. 땅에 기어 다니는 어떤 기는 것으로도 너희 자신을 더럽히지 마라.

For I am the Lord your God: ye shall therefore sanctify yourselves, and ye shall be holy; for I am holy: neither shall ye defile yourselves with any manner of creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

나는 너희의 하나님이 되려고 너희를 애굽 땅에서 인도하여 낸 여호와라 내가 거룩하니 너희도 거룩할찌어다

풀이: 나는 너희의 신이 되려고 너희를 이집트 땅에서 이끌어 올린 신이다. 내가 거룩하니 너희도 거룩하여라.

For I am the Lord that bringeth you up out of the land of Egypt, to be your God: ye shall therefore be holy, for I am holy.

이는 짐승과 새와 물에서 움직이는 모든 생물과 땅에 기는 모든 기어다니는 것에 대한 규례니

풀이: 이것이 짐승과 새와 물에서 움직이는 모든 생물과 땅에 기어 다니는 모든 것에 관한 규례다.

This is the law of the beasts, and of the fowl, and of every living creature that moveth in the waters, and of every creature that creepeth upon the earth:

부정하고 정한 것과 먹을 생물과 먹지 못할 생물을 분별한 것이니라

풀이: 부정한 것과 정한 것을, 먹어도 되는 생물과 먹어선 안 되는 생물을 가려내는 규례다.

To make a difference between the unclean and the clean, and between the beast that may be eaten and the beast that may not be eaten.
