신명기 31장

모세가 가서 온 이스라엘에게 이 말씀을 베푸니라

풀이: 모세가 나아가, 온 이스라엘에게 이 말을 전했다.

And Moses went and spake these words unto all Israel.

곧 그들에게 이르되 내가 오늘날 일백 이십세라 내가 더는 출입하기 능치 못하고 여호와께서도 내게 이르시기를 너는 이 요단을 건너지 못하리라 하셨느니라

풀이: 그가 그들에게 말했다. "내 나이 오늘로 120세다. 이제 나는 더 이상 너희를 이끌고 나가고 들어올 수 없다. 신께서도 내게 '너는 이 요단을 건너지 못한다'고 이르셨다.

And he said unto them, I am an hundred and twenty years old this day; I can no more go out and come in: also the Lord hath said unto me, Thou shalt not go over this Jordan.

여호와께서 이미 말씀하신 것과 같이 여호수아가 너를 거느리고 건널 것이요 네 하나님 여호와 그가 네 앞서 건너가사 이 민족들을 네 앞에서 멸하시고 너로 그 땅을 얻게 하실 것이며

풀이: 너희의 신, 그분이 친히 너희 앞서 강을 건너가, 이 민족들을 너희 앞에서 쓸어버리고 그 땅을 너희 차지가 되게 하실 것이다. 그리고 여호수아, 그가 신의 말씀대로 너희를 이끌고 건널 것이다.

The Lord thy God, he will go over before thee, and he will destroy these nations from before thee, and thou shalt possess them: and Joshua, he shall go over before thee, as the Lord hath said.

여호와께서 이미 멸하신 아모리 왕 시혼과 옥과 및 그 땅에 행하신 것과 같이 그들에게도 행하실 것이라

풀이: 신께서 이미 아모리 왕 시혼과 옥, 그리고 그 땅에 하셨던 그대로, 이 민족들에게도 행하실 것이다.

And the Lord shall do unto them as he did to Sihon and to Og, kings of the Amorites, and unto the land of them, whom he destroyed.

여호와께서 그들을 너희 앞에 붙이시리니 너희는 내가 너희에게 명한 모든 명령대로 그들에게 행할 것이라

풀이: 신께서 그들을 너희 손에 넘기실 터이니, 너희는 내가 명한 모든 명령대로 그들에게 행하여라.

And the Lord shall give them up before your face, that ye may do unto them according unto all the commandments which I have commanded you.

너는 마음을 강하게 하고 담대히 하라 그들을 두려워 말라 그들 앞에서 떨지 말라 이는 네 하나님 여호와 그가 너와 함께 행하실 것임이라 반드시 너를 떠나지 아니하시며 버리지 아니하시리라 하고

풀이: 마음을 굳게 먹고 단단히 버텨라. 그들을 두려워 말고, 그들 앞에서 떨지 마라. 너희의 신, 그분이 친히 너와 함께 가신다. 그분은 결코 너를 놓아버리지 않고, 저버리지 않으신다."

Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the Lord thy God, he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.

모세가 여호수아를 불러 온 이스라엘 목전에서 그에게 이르되 너는 마음을 강하게 하고 담대히 하라 너는 이 백성을 거느리고 여호와께서 그들의 열조에게 주리라고 맹세하신 땅에 들어가서 그들로 그 땅을 얻게 하라

풀이: 그러고 나서 모세는 여호수아를 불러, 온 이스라엘이 지켜보는 앞에서 그에게 말했다. "마음을 굳게 먹고 단단히 버텨라. 너는 이 백성을 이끌고, 신께서 그들의 조상에게 주겠다 맹세하신 땅으로 들어가, 그 땅을 그들에게 유산으로 나눠 줄 사람이다.

And Moses called unto Joshua, and said unto him in the sight of all Israel, Be strong and of a good courage: for thou must go with this people unto the land which the Lord hath sworn unto their fathers to give them; and thou shalt cause them to inherit it.

여호와 그가 네 앞서 행하시며 너와 함께하사 너를 떠나지 아니하시며 버리지 아니하시리니 너는 두려워 말라 놀라지 말라

풀이: 신, 그분이 친히 네 앞서 가시며 너와 함께하신다. 그분은 너를 놓아버리지 않고, 저버리지 않으신다. 두려워 말고, 겁먹지 마라."

And the Lord, he it is that doth go before thee; he will be with thee, he will not fail thee, neither forsake thee: fear not, neither be dismayed.

모세가 이 율법을 써서 여호와의 언약궤를 메는 레위 자손 제사장들과 이스라엘 모든 장로에게 주고

풀이: 모세는 이 율법을 글로 적어, 신의 언약궤를 메는 레위 자손 제사장들과 이스라엘 모든 장로에게 건넸다.

And Moses wrote this law, and delivered it unto the priests the sons of Levi, which bare the ark of the covenant of the Lord, and unto all the elders of Israel.

그들에게 명하여 이르기를 매 칠년 끝 해 곧 정기 면제년의 초막절에

풀이: 그리고 그들에게 명했다. "7년마다, 그 마지막 해 곧 빚을 탕감하는 면제년의 초막절에,

And Moses commanded them, saying, At the end of every seven years, in the solemnity of the year of release, in the feast of tabernacles,

온 이스라엘이 네 하나님 여호와 앞 그 택하신 곳에 모일 때에 이 율법을 낭독하여 온 이스라엘로 듣게 할찌니

풀이: 온 이스라엘이 신께서 택하신 그곳으로, 그분 앞에 나아올 때, 너는 이 율법을 온 이스라엘 앞에서 소리 내어 읽어 그들 모두가 듣게 하여라.

When all Israel is come to appear before the Lord thy God in the place which he shall choose, thou shalt read this law before all Israel in their hearing.

곧 백성의 남녀와 유치와 네 성안에 우거하는 타국인을 모으고 그들로 듣고 배우고 네 하나님 여호와를 경외하며 이 율법의 모든 말씀을 지켜 행하게 하고

풀이: 백성을 다 모아라 — 남자도 여자도 아이도, 너희 성안에 머무는 이방인까지. 그들이 듣고 배워, 너희의 신을 경외하며 이 율법의 모든 말씀을 지켜 행하게 하여라.

Gather the people together, men, and women, and children, and thy stranger that is within thy gates, that they may hear, and that they may learn, and fear the Lord your God, and observe to do all the words of this law:

또 너희가 요단을 건너가서 얻을 땅에 거할 동안에 이 말씀을 알지 못하는 그들의 자녀로 듣고 네 하나님 여호와 경외하기를 배우게 할찌니라

풀이: 그래야 이 말씀을 아직 모르는 그들의 자녀도 듣고, 너희가 요단을 건너 차지할 그 땅에 사는 동안 내내 너희의 신을 경외하는 법을 배우게 된다."

And that their children, which have not known any thing, may hear, and learn to fear the Lord your God, as long as ye live in the land whither ye go over Jordan to possess it.

여호와께서 모세에게 이르시되 너의 죽을 기한이 가까왔으니 여호수아를 불러서 함께 회막으로 나아오라 내가 그에게 명을 내리리라 모세와 여호수아가 나아가서 회막에 서니

풀이: 신께서 모세에게 이르셨다. "보아라, 네가 죽을 날이 가까웠다. 여호수아를 불러 함께 회막으로 나아오너라. 내가 그에게 임무를 맡기겠다." 모세와 여호수아가 나아가 회막에 섰다.

And the Lord said unto Moses, Behold, thy days approach that thou must die: call Joshua, and present yourselves in the tabernacle of the congregation, that I may give him a charge. And Moses and Joshua went, and presented themselves in the tabernacle of the congregation.

여호와께서 구름 기둥 가운데서 장막에 나타나시고 구름 기둥은 장막문 위에 머물렀더라

풀이: 그러자 신께서 구름 기둥 가운데 장막에 나타나셨고, 그 구름 기둥은 장막 문 위에 멈춰 섰다.

And the Lord appeared in the tabernacle in a pillar of a cloud: and the pillar of the cloud stood over the door of the tabernacle.

여호와께서 모세에게 이르시되 너는 너의 열조와 함께 자려니와 이 백성은 들어가 거할 그 땅에서 일어나서 이방 신들을 음란히 좇아 나를 버리며 내가 그들과 세운 언약을 어길 것이라

풀이: 신께서 모세에게 이르셨다. "보아라, 너는 곧 네 조상들과 함께 잠들 것이다. 그러면 이 백성은 들어가 살 그 땅에서 일어나, 그 땅의 낯선 신들을 음란하게 좇아가 나를 저버리고, 내가 그들과 맺은 언약을 깨뜨릴 것이다.

And the Lord said unto Moses, Behold, thou shalt sleep with thy fathers; and this people will rise up, and go a whoring after the gods of the strangers of the land, whither they go to be among them, and will forsake me, and break my covenant which I have made with them.

그 때에 내가 그들에게 진노하여 그들을 버리며 내 얼굴을 숨겨 그들에게 보이지 않게 할것인즉 그들이 삼킴을 당하여 허다한 재앙과 환난이 그들에게 임할 그 때에 그들이 말하기를 이 재앙이 우리에게 임함은 우리 하나님이 우리 중에 계시지 않은 까닭이 아니뇨 할 것이라

풀이: 그날 나는 그들에게 진노하여 그들을 저버리고, 그들에게서 내 얼굴을 숨길 것이다. 그들은 삼켜질 것이며, 수많은 재앙과 고난이 그들에게 닥칠 것이다. 그날 그들은 말하리라. '이 재앙들이 우리에게 닥친 것은 우리 신이 우리 가운데 계시지 않기 때문이 아닌가?'

Then my anger shall be kindled against them in that day, and I will forsake them, and I will hide my face from them, and they shall be devoured, and many evils and troubles shall befall them; so that they will say in that day, Are not these evils come upon us, because our God is not among us?

그들이 돌이켜 다른 신을 좇는 모든 악행을 인하여 내가 그 때에 반드시 내 얼굴을 숨기리라

풀이: 그러나 그들이 다른 신들에게 돌아서서 저지른 그 모든 악 때문에, 나는 그날 반드시 내 얼굴을 숨길 것이다.

And I will surely hide my face in that day for all the evils which they shall have wrought, in that they are turned unto other gods.

그러므로 이제 너희는 이 노래를 써서 이스라엘 자손에게 가르쳐서 그 입으로 부르게 하여 이 노래로 나를 위하여 이스라엘 자손에게 증거가 되게 하라

풀이: 그러니 이제 너희는 이 노래를 적어, 이스라엘 백성에게 가르쳐 그들의 입으로 부르게 하여라. 이 노래가 이스라엘 백성을 두고 나를 위한 증인이 되게 하여라.

Now therefore write ye this song for you, and teach it the children of Israel: put it in their mouths, that this song may be a witness for me against the children of Israel.

내가 그들의 열조에게 맹세한바 젖과 꿀이 흐르는 땅으로 그들을 인도하여 들인 후에 그들이 먹어 배부르고 살찌면 돌이켜 다른 신들을 섬기며 나를 멸시하여 내 언약을 어기리니

풀이: 내가 그들의 조상에게 맹세한 땅, 젖과 꿀이 흐르는 그 땅으로 그들을 데려간 뒤, 그들이 먹어 배부르고 살이 오르면, 그들은 다른 신들에게 돌아서서 그것들을 섬기고, 나를 업신여기며 내 언약을 깨뜨릴 것이다.

For when I shall have brought them into the land which I sware unto their fathers, that floweth with milk and honey; and they shall have eaten and filled themselves, and waxen fat; then will they turn unto other gods, and serve them, and provoke me, and break my covenant.

그들이 재앙과 환난을 당할 때에 그들의 자손이 부르기를 잊지 아니한 이 노래가 그들 앞에 증인처럼 되리라 나는 내가 맹세한 땅으로 그들을 인도하여 들이기 전 오늘날에 나는 그들의 상상하는 바를 아노라

풀이: 그리하여 수많은 재앙과 고난이 그들에게 닥칠 때, 이 노래가 그들 앞에서 증인으로 나설 것이다 — 그들의 후손이 이 노래를 결코 잊지 않을 테니. 내가 맹세한 땅으로 그들을 데려가기도 전인 바로 오늘, 나는 이미 그들이 무엇을 빚어내고 있는지 안다."

And it shall come to pass, when many evils and troubles are befallen them, that this song shall testify against them as a witness; for it shall not be forgotten out of the mouths of their seed: for I know their imagination which they go about, even now, before I have brought them into the land which I sware.

모세가 당일에 이 노래를 써서 이스라엘 자손에게 가르쳤더라

풀이: 그날로 모세는 이 노래를 적어, 이스라엘 백성에게 가르쳤다.

Moses therefore wrote this song the same day, and taught it the children of Israel.

여호와께서 또 눈의 아들 여호수아에게 명하여 가라사대 너는 이스라엘 자손을 인도하여 내가 그들에게 맹세한 땅으로 들어가게 하리니 마음을 강하게 하고 담대히 하라 내가 너와 함께 하리라

풀이: 그리고 신께서 눈의 아들 여호수아에게 임무를 맡기며 이르셨다. "마음을 굳게 먹고 단단히 버텨라. 너는 이스라엘 백성을 이끌고, 내가 그들에게 맹세한 땅으로 들어갈 사람이다. 내가 너와 함께하겠다."

And he gave Joshua the son of Nun a charge, and said, Be strong and of a good courage: for thou shalt bring the children of Israel into the land which I sware unto them: and I will be with thee.

모세가 이 율법의 말씀을 다 책에 써서 마친 후에

풀이: 모세가 이 율법의 말씀을 책에 다 적어 마치고 나서,

And it came to pass, when Moses had made an end of writing the words of this law in a book, until they were finished,

여호와의 언약궤를 메는 레위 사람에게 명하여 가로되

풀이: 신의 언약궤를 메는 레위 사람들에게 명했다.

That Moses commanded the Levites, which bare the ark of the covenant of the Lord, saying,

이 율법책을 가져다가 너희 하나님 여호와의 언약궤 곁에 두어 너희에게 증거가 되게 하라

풀이: "이 율법책을 가져다가 너희 신의 언약궤 곁에 두어라. 그것이 거기서 너희를 향한 증인이 되게 하여라.

Take this book of the law, and put it in the side of the ark of the covenant of the Lord your God, that it may be there for a witness against thee.

내가 너희의 패역함과 목이 곧은 것을 아나니 오늘날 내가 생존하여 너희와 함께 하여도 너희가 여호와를 거역하였거든 하물며 내가 죽은 후의 일이랴

풀이: 나는 너희가 얼마나 거역하는지, 목이 얼마나 뻣뻣한지 안다. 내가 오늘 아직 살아 너희와 함께 있는데도 너희가 신을 거역해 왔거늘, 하물며 내가 죽은 뒤에야 오죽하겠느냐?

For I know thy rebellion, and thy stiff neck: behold, while I am yet alive with you this day, ye have been rebellious against the Lord; and how much more after my death?

너희 지파 모든 장로와 유사들을 내 앞에 모으라 내가 이 말씀을 그들의 귀에 들리고 그들에게 천지로 증거를 삼으리라

풀이: 너희 지파의 모든 장로와 관리들을 내 앞에 모아라. 내가 이 말을 그들의 귀에 들려주고, 하늘과 땅을 불러 그들을 향한 증인으로 삼겠다.

Gather unto me all the elders of your tribes, and your officers, that I may speak these words in their ears, and call heaven and earth to record against them.

내가 알거니와 내가 죽은 후에 너희가 스스로 부패하여 내가 너희에게 명한 길을 떠나서 여호와의 목전에 악을 행하여 너희의 손으로 하는 일로 그를 격노케 하므로 너희가 말세에 재앙을 당하리라 하니라

풀이: 나는 안다. 내가 죽은 뒤 너희는 스스로 타락하여, 내가 명한 길에서 벗어날 것이다. 너희가 신의 눈앞에 악을 행하고 너희 손으로 한 일로 그분을 노엽게 할 것이므로, 마지막 날에 재앙이 너희에게 닥칠 것이다."

For I know that after my death ye will utterly corrupt yourselves, and turn aside from the way which I have commanded you; and evil will befall you in the latter days; because ye will do evil in the sight of the Lord, to provoke him to anger through the work of your hands.

모세가 이스라엘 총회에게 이 노래의 말씀을 끝까지 읽어 들리니라

풀이: 그러고 나서 모세는 이스라엘 온 회중이 듣는 앞에서, 이 노래의 말씀을 끝까지 읊었다.

And Moses spake in the ears of all the congregation of Israel the words of this song, until they were ended.
