베드로후서 2장

그러나 민간에 또한 거짓 선지자들이 일어났었나니 이와 같이 너희 중에도 거짓 선생들이 있으리라 저희는 멸망케 할 이단을 가만히 끌어들여 자기들을 사신 주를 부인하고 임박한 멸망을 스스로 취하는 자들이라

풀이: 그런데 그 백성 가운데 거짓 예언자들이 있었던 것처럼, 너희 가운데도 거짓 교사들이 생겨날 것이다. 그들은 멸망으로 이끄는 파당의 가르침을 몰래 끌어들이고, 자기를 값 주고 사신 주인마저 부인하여, 스스로 갑작스러운 멸망을 불러들이는 자들이다.

But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction.

여럿이 저희 호색하는 것을 좇으리니 이로 인하여 진리의 도가 훼방을 받을 것이요

풀이: 그리고 많은 이가 그들의 방탕한 길을 따라갈 것이고, 그 탓에 진리의 길이 욕먹고 비방당할 것이다.

And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of.

저희가 탐심을 인하여 지은 말을 가지고 너희로 이를 삼으니 저희 심판은 옛적부터 지체하지 아니하며 저희 멸망은 자지 아니하느니라

풀이: 그들은 탐욕에 사로잡혀, 그럴듯하게 꾸며 낸 말로 너희를 돈벌이 상품처럼 이용해 먹을 것이다. 그러나 그들을 향한 심판은 이미 오래전부터 준비돼 미적거리지 않고, 그들의 멸망은 결코 졸지 않는다.

And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you: whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their damnation slumbereth not.

하나님이 범죄한 천사들을 용서치 아니하시고 지옥에 던져 어두운 구덩이에 두어 심판때까지 지키게 하셨으며

풀이: 신은 죄지은 천사들조차 봐주지 않고, 그들을 지옥에 던져 어둠의 사슬에 묶어 심판의 때까지 가두어 두었다.

For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment;

옛 세상을 용서치 아니하시고 오직 의를 전파하는 노아와 그 일곱 식구를 보존하시고 경건치 아니한 자들의 세상에 홍수를 내리셨으며

풀이: 또 옛 세상도 봐주지 않고, 의를 선포하던 노아와 함께한 일곱 사람만 지켜 내고는, 경건하지 않은 자들의 세상에 홍수를 끌어들였다.

And spared not the old world, but saved Noah the eighth person, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly;

소돔과 고모라 성을 멸망하기로 정하여 재가 되게 하사 후세에 경건치 아니할 자들에게 본을 삼으셨으며

풀이: 또 소돔과 고모라 성을 멸망으로 단죄해 재로 만들어 버렸으니, 뒷날 경건하지 않게 살아갈 자들에게 본보기로 세운 것이다.

And turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrha into ashes condemned them with an overthrow, making them an ensample unto those that after should live ungodly;

무법한 자의 음란한 행실을 인하여 고통하는 의로운 롯을 건지셨으니

풀이: 그러면서도 무법한 자들의 음탕한 행실에 시달리던 의로운 롯은 건져 냈다.

And delivered just Lot, vexed with the filthy conversation of the wicked:

(이 의인이 저희 중에 거하여 날마다 저 불법한 행실을 보고 들음으로 그 의로운 심령을 상하니라)

풀이: (이 의로운 사람은 그들 가운데 살면서, 날마다 보고 듣는 그 무법한 짓들 때문에 그 의로운 마음이 괴로움에 짓이겨졌다.)

(For that righteous man dwelling among them, in seeing and hearing, vexed his righteous soul from day to day with their unlawful deeds;)

주께서 경건한 자는 시험에서 건지시고 불의한 자는 형벌 아래 두어 심판날까지 지키시며

풀이: 이처럼 주는 경건한 자를 시련에서 건져 내는 법을 알고, 불의한 자는 형벌 아래 두어 심판의 날까지 가두어 둘 줄을 안다.

The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished:

육체를 따라 더러운 정욕 가운데서 행하며 주관하는 이를 멸시하는 자들에게 특별히 형벌하실 줄을 아시느니라 이들은 담대하고 고집하여 떨지 않고 영광 있는 자를 훼방하거니와

풀이: 특히 더러운 욕정에 빠져 육체를 좇아 살며 주관하는 권위를 업신여기는 자들에게 그러하다. 이들은 겁 없이 제멋대로 굴며, 영광스러운 존재들을 함부로 비방하고도 떨 줄을 모른다.

But chiefly them that walk after the flesh in the lust of uncleanness, and despise government. Presumptuous are they, selfwilled, they are not afraid to speak evil of dignities.

더 큰 힘과 능력을 가진 천사들이라도 주 앞에서 저희를 거스려 훼방하는 송사를 하지 아니하느니라

풀이: 더 큰 힘과 능력을 가진 천사들조차 주 앞에서 그들을 두고 욕설을 퍼붓는 고발은 하지 않는데도 말이다.

Whereas angels, which are greater in power and might, bring not railing accusation against them before the Lord.

그러나 이 사람들은 본래 잡혀 죽기 위하여 난 이성 없는 짐승 같아서 그 알지 못한 것을 훼방하고 저희 멸망 가운데서 멸망을 당하며

풀이: 그러나 이 사람들은 잡혀 죽으려고 태어난 분별없는 짐승 같아서, 알지도 못하는 것을 비방하다가 결국 그 짐승들처럼 멸망 속에서 함께 멸망할 것이다.

But these, as natural brute beasts, made to be taken and destroyed, speak evil of the things that they understand not; and shall utterly perish in their own corruption;

불의의 값으로 불의를 당하며 낮에 연락을 기쁘게 여기는 자들이니 점과 흠이라 너희와 함께 연회할 때에 저희 간사한 가운데 연락하며

풀이: 그들은 불의를 저지른 값으로 불의한 보응을 받을 것이다. 대낮부터 흥청대는 것을 낙으로 여기는 자들이라, 너희와 함께 잔치 자리에 앉아서도 자기네 속임수를 즐기는, 흠이요 오점 같은 자들이다.

And shall receive the reward of unrighteousness, as they that count it pleasure to riot in the day time. Spots they are and blemishes, sporting themselves with their own deceivings while they feast with you;

음심이 가득한 눈을 가지고 범죄하기를 쉬지 아니하고 굳세지 못한 영혼들을 유혹하며 탐욕에 연단된 마음을 가진 자들이니 저주의 자식이라

풀이: 그 눈은 음욕으로 가득 차 죄짓기를 그칠 줄 모르고, 흔들리는 영혼들을 꾀어내며, 탐욕에 이골이 나도록 단련된 마음을 지닌 자들이니, 저주받은 자식들이다.

Having eyes full of adultery, and that cannot cease from sin; beguiling unstable souls: an heart they have exercised with covetous practices; cursed children:

저희가 바른 길을 떠나 미혹하여 브올의 아들 발람의 길을 좇는도다 그는 불의의 삯을 사랑하다가

풀이: 그들은 바른길을 버리고 헤매다가 브올의 아들 발람의 길로 들어섰다. 발람은 불의의 삯을 탐내다가,

Which have forsaken the right way, and are gone astray, following the way of Balaam the son of Bosor, who loved the wages of unrighteousness;

자기의 불법을 인하여 책망을 받되 말 못하는 나귀가 사람의 소리로 말하여 이 선지자의 미친 것을 금지하였느니라

풀이: 자기 불법 때문에 책망을 받았다 — 말 못 하는 나귀가 사람의 목소리로 말하여, 미쳐 날뛰는 그 예언자를 가로막은 것이다.

But was rebuked for his iniquity: the dumb ass speaking with man’s voice forbad the madness of the prophet.

이 사람들은 물 없는 샘이요 광풍에 밀려 가는 안개니 저희를 위하여 캄캄한 어두움이 예비되어 있나니

풀이: 이들은 물 없는 샘이요, 거센 돌풍에 떠밀려 가는 안개다. 이들을 위해서는 캄캄한 어둠이 마련돼 있다.

These are wells without water, clouds that are carried with a tempest; to whom the mist of darkness is reserved for ever.

저희가 허탄한 자랑의 말을 토하여 미혹한데 행하는 사람들에게서 겨우 피한 자들을 음란으로써 육체의 정욕 중에서 유혹하여

풀이: 그들은 헛된 허풍을 입에 담아, 잘못된 길을 사는 자들에게서 가까스로 빠져나온 사람들을 육체의 욕정과 방탕으로 다시 꾀어낸다.

For when they speak great swelling words of vanity, they allure through the lusts of the flesh, through much wantonness, those that were clean escaped from them who live in error.

저희에게 자유를 준다 하여도 자기는 멸망의 종들이니 누구든지 진 자는 이긴 자의 종이 됨이니라

풀이: 그들에게 자유를 준다고 떠벌리지만, 정작 자기들은 썩어짐의 종이다. 사람은 자기를 굴복시킨 것에게 종으로 매이는 법이니까.

While they promise them liberty, they themselves are the servants of corruption: for of whom a man is overcome, of the same is he brought in bondage.

만일 저희가 우리 주 되신 구주 예수 그리스도를 앎으로 세상의 더러움을 피한 후에 다시 그 중에 얽매이고 지면 그 나중 형편이 처음보다 더 심하리니

풀이: 우리 주이자 구원자인 예수 그리스도를 알게 되어 세상의 더러움을 빠져나왔다가, 다시 거기에 얽혀들어 굴복당한다면, 그들의 나중 형편은 처음보다 더 나빠진다.

For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning.

의의 도를 안 후에 받은 거룩한 명령을 저버리는 것보다 알지 못하는 것이 도리어 저희에게 나으니라

풀이: 차라리 의의 길을 처음부터 몰랐던 편이, 알고 난 뒤에 전해 받은 그 거룩한 명령에서 등을 돌리는 것보다 그들에게 나았을 것이다.

For it had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after they have known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered unto them.

참 속담에 이르기를 개가 그 토하였던 것에 돌아가고 돼지가 씻었다가 더러운 구덩이에 도로 누웠다 하는 말이 저희에게 응하였도다

풀이: 그들에게는 참된 속담 그대로 들어맞았다 — "개는 제가 토한 것으로 되돌아가고, 씻긴 돼지는 다시 진창에 뒹군다."

But it is happened unto them according to the true proverb, The dog is turned to his own vomit again; and the sow that was washed to her wallowing in the mire.
