열왕기상 9장

솔로몬이 여호와의 전과 왕궁 건축하기를 마치며 자기의 무릇 이루기를 원하던 일이 마친 때에

풀이: 솔로몬이 신의 성전과 왕궁을 다 짓고, 그 밖에 자기가 이루고 싶어 하던 모든 일까지 마쳤을 때였다.

And it came to pass, when Solomon had finished the building of the house of the Lord, and the king’s house, and all Solomon’s desire which he was pleased to do,

여호와께서 전에 기브온에서 나타나심 같이 다시 솔로몬에게 나타나사

풀이: 신이 솔로몬에게 두 번째로 나타났다. 전에 기브온에서 나타났던 것처럼 다시 모습을 드러냈다.

That the Lord appeared to Solomon the second time, as he had appeared unto him at Gibeon.

저에게 이르시되 네가 내 앞에서 기도하며 간구함을 내가 들었은즉 내가 너의 건축한 이 전을 거룩하게 구별하여 나의 이름을 영영히 그곳에 두며 나의 눈과 나의 마음이 항상 거기 있으리니

풀이: 신이 그에게 말했다. "네가 내 앞에서 드린 기도와 간구를 내가 들었다. 네가 지은 이 성전을 내가 거룩하게 구별하여, 내 이름을 여기에 영원히 두겠다. 내 눈과 내 마음이 언제나 이곳에 머물 것이다."

And the Lord said unto him, I have heard thy prayer and thy supplication, that thou hast made before me: I have hallowed this house, which thou hast built, to put my name there for ever; and mine eyes and mine heart shall be there perpetually.

네가 만일 네 아비 다윗의 행함 같이 마음을 온전히 하고 바르게 하여 내 앞에서 행하며 내가 네게 명한대로 온갖 것을 순종하여 나의 법도와 율례를 지키면

풀이: "그리고 네가 만일 네 아버지 다윗처럼 마음을 온전하고 곧게 하여 내 앞에서 살아가며, 내가 네게 명한 모든 것을 그대로 지키고 내 법도와 규례를 따른다면 —"

And if thou wilt walk before me, as David thy father walked, in integrity of heart, and in uprightness, to do according to all that I have commanded thee, and wilt keep my statutes and my judgments:

내가 네 아비 다윗에게 허하여 이르기를 이스라엘 위에 오를 사람이 네게서 끊어지지 아니하리라 한대로 너의 이스라엘의 왕위를 영원히 견고하게 하려니와

풀이: "내가 네 아버지 다윗에게 '이스라엘의 왕좌에 앉을 사람이 네 자손에게서 끊이지 않을 것이다' 하고 약속한 그대로, 너의 이스라엘 왕위를 영원히 굳게 세워 주겠다."

Then I will establish the throne of thy kingdom upon Israel for ever, as I promised to David thy father, saying, There shall not fail thee a man upon the throne of Israel.

만일 너희나 너희 자손이 아주 돌이켜 나를 좇지 아니하며 내가 너희 앞에 둔 나의 계명과 법도를 지키지 아니하고 가서 다른 신을 섬겨 그것을 숭배하면

풀이: "그러나 만일 너희나 너희 자손이 나에게서 완전히 돌아서서, 내가 너희 앞에 둔 계명과 법도를 지키지 않고 다른 신들을 좇아 섬기고 절한다면 —"

But if ye shall at all turn from following me, ye or your children, and will not keep my commandments and my statutes which I have set before you, but go and serve other gods, and worship them:

내가 이스라엘을 나의 준 땅에서 끊어 버릴 것이요 내 이름을 위하여 내가 거룩하게 구별한 이 전이라도 내 앞에서 던져 버리리니 이스라엘은 모든 민족 가운데 속담거리와 이야기거리가 될 것이며

풀이: "나는 내가 준 이 땅에서 이스라엘을 끊어 내고, 내 이름을 위해 거룩하게 구별한 이 성전마저 내 앞에서 내던질 것이다. 그러면 이스라엘은 모든 민족 사이에서 비웃음거리, 조롱거리가 되고 말 것이다."

Then will I cut off Israel out of the land which I have given them; and this house, which I have hallowed for my name, will I cast out of my sight; and Israel shall be a proverb and a byword among all people:

이 전이 높을찌라도 무릇 그리로 지나가는 자가 놀라며 비웃어 가로되 여호와께서 무슨 까닭으로 이 땅과 이 전에 이 같이 행하셨는고 하면

풀이: "이토록 높이 솟은 이 성전을 두고도, 그 곁을 지나는 사람마다 기겁하며 비웃을 것이다. '신이 어찌하여 이 땅과 이 성전에 이런 일을 하셨는가?' 하고 수군대면,"

And at this house, which is high, every one that passeth by it shall be astonished, and shall hiss; and they shall say, Why hath the Lord done thus unto this land, and to this house?

대답하기를 저희가 자기 열조를 애굽 땅에서 인도하여 내신 자기 하나님 여호와를 버리고 다른 신에게 부종하여 그를 숭배하여 섬기므로 여호와께서 이 모든 재앙을 저희에게 내리심이라 하리라 하셨더라

풀이: "사람들은 이렇게 답할 것이다. '저들이 자기 조상을 이집트 땅에서 이끌어 낸 자기 신을 버리고, 다른 신들에게 매달려 섬기고 절했기 때문이다. 그래서 신이 이 모든 재앙을 저들에게 내린 것이다.'"

And they shall answer, Because they forsook the Lord their God, who brought forth their fathers out of the land of Egypt, and have taken hold upon other gods, and have worshipped them, and served them: therefore hath the Lord brought upon them all this evil.

솔로몬이 두 집 곧 여호와의 전과 왕궁을 이십년 만에 건축하기를 마치고

풀이: 솔로몬이 두 건물, 곧 신의 성전과 왕궁을 짓는 데 20년이 걸렸다. 그 일을 다 마치고 나서,

And it came to pass at the end of twenty years, when Solomon had built the two houses, the house of the Lord, and the king’s house,

갈릴리 땅의 성읍 이십을 히람에게 주었으니 이는 두로 왕 히람이 솔로몬에게 그 온갖 소원대로 백향목과 잣나무와 금을 지공하였음이라

풀이: 솔로몬은 갈릴리 땅의 성읍 스무 곳을 두로 왕 히람에게 넘겼다. 히람이 솔로몬이 원하는 대로 백향목과 잣나무와 금을 대 주었기 때문이다.

(Now Hiram the king of Tyre had furnished Solomon with cedar trees and fir trees, and with gold, according to all his desire,) that then king Solomon gave Hiram twenty cities in the land of Galilee.

히람이 두로에서 와서 솔로몬이 자기에게 준 성읍들을 보고 눈에 들지 아니하여

풀이: 히람이 두로에서 와서 솔로몬이 자기에게 넘긴 성읍들을 둘러보았는데, 영 마음에 들지 않았다.

And Hiram came out from Tyre to see the cities which Solomon had given him; and they pleased him not.

이르기를 나의 형이여 내게 준 이 성읍들이 이러하뇨 하고 이름하여 가불 땅이라 하였더니 그 이름이 오늘까지 있으니라

풀이: 그가 말했다. "형제여, 내게 준다는 성읍들이 고작 이런 것들이오?" 그러고는 그 땅을 '가불 땅'이라 불렀고, 그 이름이 오늘날까지 남아 있다.

And he said, What cities are these which thou hast given me, my brother? And he called them the land of Cabul unto this day.

히람이 금 일백 이십 달란트를 왕에게 보내었더라

풀이: 그래도 히람은 왕에게 금 120달란트를 보냈다.

And Hiram sent to the king sixscore talents of gold.

솔로몬왕이 역군을 일으킨 까닭은 여호와의 전과 자기 궁과 밀로와 예루살렘성과 하솔과 므깃도와 게셀을 건축하려 하였음이라

풀이: 솔로몬 왕이 강제 노역을 징발한 까닭은 이러했다 — 신의 성전과 자기 왕궁, 그리고 밀로와 예루살렘 성벽, 또 하솔과 므깃도와 게셀을 짓기 위해서였다.

And this is the reason of the levy which king Solomon raised; for to build the house of the Lord, and his own house, and Millo, and the wall of Jerusalem, and Hazor, and Megiddo, and Gezer.

전에 애굽왕 바로가 올라와서 게셀을 탈취하여 불사르고 그 성에 사는 가나안 사람을 죽이고 그 성읍을 자기 딸 솔로몬의 아내에게 예물로 주었더니

풀이: 전에 이집트 왕 바로가 쳐올라와 게셀을 빼앗아 불태우고 그 성에 살던 가나안 사람들을 죽인 뒤, 그 성읍을 자기 딸, 곧 솔로몬의 아내에게 혼인 예물로 주었던 일이 있었다.

For Pharaoh king of Egypt had gone up, and taken Gezer, and burnt it with fire, and slain the Canaanites that dwelt in the city, and given it for a present unto his daughter, Solomon’s wife.

솔로몬이 게셀과 아래 벧호론을 건축하고

풀이: 솔로몬은 그 게셀과 아래쪽 벧호론을 다시 세웠고,

And Solomon built Gezer, and Beth–horon the nether,

또 바알랏과 그 땅의 들에 있는 다드몰과

풀이: 바알랏과, 그 땅 광야에 있는 다드몰도 세웠으며,

And Baalath, and Tadmor in the wilderness, in the land,

자기에게 있는 모든 국고성과 병거성들과 마병의 성들을 건축하고 솔로몬이 또 예루살렘과 레바논과 그 다스리는 온 땅에 건축하고자 하던 것을 다 건축하였는데

풀이: 자기가 가진 모든 창고 성읍과 병거를 두는 성읍, 기병을 두는 성읍을 지었다. 그 밖에도 예루살렘과 레바논, 그리고 자기가 다스리는 온 땅에 짓고 싶었던 것을 다 지었다.

And all the cities of store that Solomon had, and cities for his chariots, and cities for his horsemen, and that which Solomon desired to build in Jerusalem, and in Lebanon, and in all the land of his dominion.

무릇 이스라엘 자손이 아닌 아모리 사람과 헷 사람과 브리스 사람과 히위 사람과 여부스 사람의 남아 있는자

풀이: 이스라엘 자손이 아니면서 그 땅에 남아 있던 사람들 — 아모리 사람, 헷 사람, 브리스 사람, 히위 사람, 여부스 사람의 후예들,

And all the people that were left of the Amorites, Hittites, Perizzites, Hivites, and Jebusites, which were not of the children of Israel,

곧 이스라엘 자손이 다 멸하지 못하므로 그 땅에 남아 있는 그 자손들을 솔로몬이 노예로 역군을 삼아 오늘까지 이르렀으되

풀이: 곧 이스라엘 자손이 끝내 다 멸하지 못해 그 땅에 남게 된 그들의 자손을, 솔로몬은 강제 노역을 지는 노예로 삼았고, 그것이 오늘날까지 이어지고 있다.

Their children that were left after them in the land, whom the children of Israel also were not able utterly to destroy, upon those did Solomon levy a tribute of bondservice unto this day.

오직 이스라엘 자손은 솔로몬이 노예를 삼지 아니하였으니 저희는 군사와 그 신복과 방백과 대장이며 병거와 마병의 장관이 됨이었더라

풀이: 그러나 이스라엘 자손은 솔로몬이 노예로 삼지 않았다. 그들은 군사이거나 신하, 고관, 지휘관이었고, 병거와 기병을 거느린 장교였다.

But of the children of Israel did Solomon make no bondmen: but they were men of war, and his servants, and his princes, and his captains, and rulers of his chariots, and his horsemen.

솔로몬에게 역사를 감독하는 두목 오백 오십인이 있어 역사하는 백성을 다스렸더라

풀이: 솔로몬의 공사를 감독하는 책임자가 550명 있었는데, 이들이 일하는 백성을 부렸다.

These were the chief of the officers that were over Solomon’s work, five hundred and fifty, which bare rule over the people that wrought in the work.

바로의 딸이 다윗성에서부터 올라와 솔로몬이 저를 위하여 건축한 궁에 이를 때에 솔로몬이 밀로를 건축하였더라

풀이: 바로의 딸은 다윗성에서 올라와, 솔로몬이 자기를 위해 지어 준 궁으로 들어갔다. 그 무렵 솔로몬은 밀로를 쌓고 있었다.

But Pharaoh’s daughter came up out of the city of David unto her house which Solomon had built for her: then did he build Millo.

솔로몬이 여호와를 위하여 쌓은 단 위에 해마다 세번씩 번제와 감사제를 드리고 또 여호와 앞에 있는 단에 분향하니라 이에 전 역사가 마치니라

풀이: 솔로몬은 신을 위해 쌓은 제단에 해마다 세 차례씩 번제와 화목제를 드리고, 신 앞의 제단에 향을 피웠다. 이렇게 하여 성전 공사가 모두 끝났다.

And three times in a year did Solomon offer burnt offerings and peace offerings upon the altar which he built unto the Lord, and he burnt incense upon the altar that was before the Lord. So he finished the house.

솔로몬왕이 에돔 땅 홍해 물 가 엘롯 근처 에시온게벨에서 배들을 지은지라

풀이: 솔로몬 왕은 에돔 땅 홍해 가, 엘롯 근처 에시온게벨에서 배들을 만들었다.

And king Solomon made a navy of ships in Ezion–geber, which is beside Eloth, on the shore of the Red sea, in the land of Edom.

히람이 자기 종 곧 바다에 익숙한 사공들을 솔로몬의 종과 함께 그 배로 보내매

풀이: 히람은 자기 종들 가운데 바다에 익숙한 뱃사람들을 솔로몬의 종들과 함께 그 배에 태워 보냈다.

And Hiram sent in the navy his servants, shipmen that had knowledge of the sea, with the servants of Solomon.

저희가 오빌에 이르러 거기서 금 사백 이십 달란트를 얻고 솔로몬왕에게로 가져왔더라

풀이: 그들은 오빌에 이르러 그곳에서 금 420달란트를 얻어 솔로몬 왕에게 가져왔다.

And they came to Ophir, and fetched from thence gold, four hundred and twenty talents, and brought it to king Solomon.
