에스라 3장

이스라엘 자손이 그 본성에 거하였더니 칠월에 이르러 일제히 예루살렘에 모인지라

풀이: 일곱째 달이 되자, 저마다 제 고향 성읍에 흩어져 살던 이스라엘 사람들이 마치 한 사람처럼 예루살렘으로 모여들었다.

And when the seventh month was come, and the children of Israel were in the cities, the people gathered themselves together as one man to Jerusalem.

요사닥의 아들 예수아와 그 형제 제사장들과 스알디엘의 아들 스룹바벨과 그 형제들이 다 일어나 이스라엘 하나님의 단을 만들고 하나님의 사람 모세의 율법에 기록한대로 번제를 그 위에 드리려 할쌔

풀이: 요사닥의 아들 예수아가 동료 제사장들과 함께, 또 스알디엘의 아들 스룹바벨이 자기 친족들과 함께 나서서 이스라엘의 신을 위한 제단을 쌓았다. 신의 사람 모세의 율법에 적힌 그대로, 그 위에 번제를 드리기 위해서였다.

Then stood up Jeshua the son of Jozadak, and his brethren the priests, and Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and his brethren, and builded the altar of the God of Israel, to offer burnt offerings thereon, as it is written in the law of Moses the man of God.

무리가 열국 백성을 두려워하여 단을 그 터에 세우고 그 위에 조석으로 여호와께 번제를 드리며

풀이: 그들은 주변 여러 나라 사람들이 두려웠던 터라, 무너진 제단을 옛 자리 그 받침대 위에 다시 세웠다. 그러고는 그 위에서 아침저녁으로 신에게 번제를 올렸다.

And they set the altar upon his bases; for fear was upon them because of the people of those countries: and they offered burnt offerings thereon unto the Lord, even burnt offerings morning and evening.

기록된 규례대로 초막절을 지켜 번제를 매일 정수대로 날마다 드리고

풀이: 또 기록된 규정대로 초막절을 지키며, 날마다 정해진 수효에 맞춰 그날그날 몫의 번제를 드렸다.

They kept also the feast of tabernacles, as it is written, and offered the daily burnt offerings by number, according to the custom, as the duty of every day required;

그 후에는 항상 드리는 번제와 초하루와 여호와의 모든 거룩한 절기의 번제와 사람이 여호와께 즐거이 드리는 예물을 드리되

풀이: 그 뒤로는 늘 드리는 정규 번제와, 초하루와 신의 거룩한 절기마다 드리는 번제, 그리고 사람들이 자원해서 신에게 바치는 예물을 함께 드렸다.

And afterward offered the continual burnt offering, both of the new moons, and of all the set feasts of the Lord that were consecrated, and of every one that willingly offered a freewill offering unto the Lord.

칠월 초하루부터 비로소 여호와께 번제를 드렸으나 그 때에 여호와의 전 지대는 오히려 놓지 못한지라

풀이: 일곱째 달 초하루부터 그들은 비로소 신에게 번제를 드리기 시작했다. 그러나 신의 성전 기초는 아직 놓이지 않은 상태였다.

From the first day of the seventh month began they to offer burnt offerings unto the Lord. But the foundation of the temple of the Lord was not yet laid.

이에 석수와 목수에게 돈을 주고 또 시돈 사람과 두로 사람에게 먹을 것과 마실 것과 기름을 주고 바사 왕 고레스의 조서대로 백향목을 레바논에서 욥바 해변까지 수운하게 하였더라

풀이: 그들은 석공과 목수에게 돈을 치르고, 시돈 사람과 두로 사람에게는 먹을 것과 마실 것과 기름을 주었다. 페르시아 왕 고레스가 허락한 대로, 레바논의 백향목을 바다 길로 욥바 해변까지 실어 오게 하려는 것이었다.

They gave money also unto the masons, and to the carpenters; and meat, and drink, and oil, unto them of Zidon, and to them of Tyre, to bring cedar trees from Lebanon to the sea of Joppa, according to the grant that they had of Cyrus king of Persia.

예루살렘 하나님의 전에 이른지 이년 이월에 스알디엘의 아들 스룹바벨과 요사닥의 아들 예수아와 다른 형제 제사장들과 레위 사람들과 무릇 사로잡혔다가 예루살렘에 돌아 온 자들이 역사를 시작하고 이십 세 이상의 레위 사람들을 세워 여호와의 전 역사를 감독하게 하매

풀이: 예루살렘 신의 성전 터에 이른 지 이듬해 둘째 달, 스알디엘의 아들 스룹바벨과 요사닥의 아들 예수아, 그리고 나머지 동료 제사장들과 레위 사람들, 사로잡혀 갔다가 예루살렘으로 돌아온 모든 이가 공사를 시작했다. 그들은 스무 살 이상의 레위 사람들을 세워 신의 성전 공사를 감독하게 했다.

Now in the second year of their coming unto the house of God at Jerusalem, in the second month, began Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and Jeshua the son of Jozadak, and the remnant of their brethren the priests and the Levites, and all they that were come out of the captivity unto Jerusalem; and appointed the Levites, from twenty years old and upward, to set forward the work of the house of the Lord.

이에 예수아와 그 아들들과 그 형제들과 갓미엘과 그 아들들과 유다 자손과 헤나닷 자손과 그 형제 레위 사람들이 일제히 일어나 하나님의 전 공장을 감독하니라

풀이: 그리하여 예수아가 자기 아들들·친족들과 함께, 갓미엘이 자기 아들들과 함께, 유다 자손과 헤나닷 자손과 그 친족 레위 사람들이 다 함께 나서서 신의 성전에서 일하는 일꾼들을 감독했다.

Then stood Jeshua with his sons and his brethren, Kadmiel and his sons, the sons of Judah, together, to set forward the workmen in the house of God: the sons of Henadad, with their sons and their brethren the Levites.

건축자가 여호와의 전 지대를 놓을 때에 제사장들은 예복을 입고 나팔을 들고 아삽 자손 레위 사람들은 제금을 들고 서서 이스라엘 왕 다윗의 규례대로 여호와를 찬송하되

풀이: 건축자들이 신의 성전 기초를 놓을 때, 제사장들은 예복을 갖춰 입고 나팔을 들고 섰고, 아삽 자손인 레위 사람들은 제금을 손에 들고 섰다. 이스라엘 왕 다윗이 정한 방식대로 신을 찬양하기 위해서였다.

And when the builders laid the foundation of the temple of the Lord, they set the priests in their apparel with trumpets, and the Levites the sons of Asaph with cymbals, to praise the Lord, after the ordinance of David king of Israel.

서로 찬송가를 화답하며 여호와께 감사하여 가로되 주는 지선하시므로 그 인자하심이 이스라엘에게 영원하시도다 하니 모든 백성이 여호와의 전 지대가 놓임을 보고 여호와를 찬송하며 큰 소리로 즐거이 부르며

풀이: 그들은 번갈아 주고받으며 신을 찬양하고 감사하며 노래했다. "그분은 선하시고, 그 한결같은 사랑이 이스라엘에게 영원하다." 그러자 온 백성이 신의 성전 기초가 놓이는 것을 보고 신을 찬양하며 크게 환호성을 질렀다.

And they sang together by course in praising and giving thanks unto the Lord; because he is good, for his mercy endureth for ever toward Israel. And all the people shouted with a great shout, when they praised the Lord, because the foundation of the house of the Lord was laid.

제사장들과 레위 사람들과 족장들 중에 여러 노인은 첫 성전을 보았던고로 이제 이 전 지대 놓임을 보고 대성 통곡하며 여러 사람은 기뻐하여 즐거이 부르니

풀이: 그러나 제사장과 레위 사람과 가문 어른들 가운데 첫 성전을 직접 보았던 나이 든 이들은, 이제 이 성전의 기초가 자기 눈앞에서 놓이는 것을 보며 큰 소리로 통곡했다. 한편 많은 사람은 기뻐서 환호성을 올렸다.

But many of the priests and Levites and chief of the fathers, who were ancient men, that had seen the first house, when the foundation of this house was laid before their eyes, wept with a loud voice; and many shouted aloud for joy:

백성의 크게 외치는 소리가 멀리 들리므로 즐거이 부르는 소리와 통곡하는 소리를 백성들이 분변치 못하였느니라

풀이: 백성이 지르는 소리가 어찌나 컸던지, 기뻐 외치는 소리와 통곡하는 소리를 사람들이 도무지 가려낼 수 없었다. 그 소리는 멀리까지 울려 퍼졌다.

So that the people could not discern the noise of the shout of joy from the noise of the weeping of the people: for the people shouted with a loud shout, and the noise was heard afar off.
