사무엘상 30장

다윗과 그의 사람들이 제 삼일에 시글락에 이를 때에 아말렉 사람들이 이미 남방과 시글락을 침로하였는데 그들이 시글락을 쳐서 불사르고

풀이: 다윗과 그의 부하들이 3일 만에 시글락으로 돌아왔다. 그동안 아말렉 사람들이 남쪽 네게브 일대와 시글락을 습격했고, 시글락을 쳐서 불태운 뒤였다.

And it came to pass, when David and his men were come to Ziklag on the third day, that the Amalekites had invaded the south, and Ziklag, and smitten Ziklag, and burned it with fire;

거기 있는 대소 여인들을 하나도 죽이지 아니하고 다 사로잡아 끌고 자기 길을 갔더라

풀이: 그들은 성안의 여자들을 어린아이부터 노인까지 하나도 죽이지 않고 모두 사로잡아, 끌고 제 갈 길로 가 버렸다.

And had taken the women captives, that were therein: they slew not any, either great or small, but carried them away, and went on their way.

다윗과 그의 사람들이 성에 이르러 본즉 성이 불탔고 자기들의 아내와 자녀들이 사로잡혔는지라

풀이: 다윗과 부하들이 성에 도착해 보니, 성은 잿더미였고 아내도 아들딸도 모두 끌려가고 없었다.

So David and his men came to the city, and, behold, it was burned with fire; and their wives, and their sons, and their daughters, were taken captives.

다윗과 그와 함께한 백성이 울 기력이 없도록 소리를 높여 울었더라

풀이: 다윗과 함께 있던 사람들은 목소리를 높여 울었다. 더 울 기운조차 남지 않을 때까지 울었다.

Then David and the people that were with him lifted up their voice and wept, until they had no more power to weep.

(다윗의 두 아내 이스르엘 여인 아히노암과 갈멜 사람 나발의 아내 되었던 아비가일도 사로잡혔더라)

풀이: 다윗의 두 아내, 이스르엘 여인 아히노암과 갈멜 사람 나발의 아내였던 아비가일도 함께 사로잡혀 있었다.

And David’s two wives were taken captives, Ahinoam the Jezreelitess, and Abigail the wife of Nabal the Carmelite.

백성이 각기 자녀들을 위하여 마음이 슬퍼서 다윗을 돌로 치자 하니 다윗이 크게 군급하였으나 그 하나님 여호와를 힘입고 용기를 얻었더라

풀이: 다윗은 절체절명의 위기에 몰렸다. 자식들을 잃은 슬픔에 사람들의 마음이 사나워져, 저마다 다윗을 돌로 쳐 죽이자고 했기 때문이다. 그러나 다윗은 자기 신을 의지하며 스스로 마음을 다잡았다.

And David was greatly distressed; for the people spake of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and for his daughters: but David encouraged himself in the Lord his God.

다윗이 아히멜렉의 아들 제사장 아비아달에게 이르되 청컨대 에봇을 내게로 가져오라 아비아달이 에봇을 다윗에게로 가져오매

풀이: 다윗이 아히멜렉의 아들 제사장 아비아달에게 말했다. "에봇을 이리로 가져와 주시오." 아비아달이 에봇을 다윗에게 가져왔다.

And David said to Abiathar the priest, Ahimelech’s son, I pray thee, bring me hither the ephod. And Abiathar brought thither the ephod to David.

다윗이 여호와께 묻자와 가로되 내가 이 군대를 쫓아 가면 미치겠나이까 여호와께서 대답하시되 쫓아가라 네가 반드시 미치고 정녕 도로 찾으리라

풀이: 다윗이 신에게 물었다. "이 무리를 뒤쫓으면 따라잡을 수 있겠습니까?" 신이 대답했다. "쫓아가라. 반드시 따라잡고, 빠짐없이 되찾으리라."

And David enquired at the Lord, saying, Shall I pursue after this troop? shall I overtake them? And he answered him, Pursue: for thou shalt surely overtake them, and without fail recover all.

이에 다윗과 그와 함께한 육백명이 가서 브솔 시내에 이르러는 뒤떨어진 자를 거기 머물렀으되

풀이: 그래서 다윗은 함께한 600명을 거느리고 길을 떠나 브솔 시내에 이르렀다. 거기서 일부는 뒤에 처져 머물렀다.

So David went, he and the six hundred men that were with him, and came to the brook Besor, where those that were left behind stayed.

곧 피곤하여 브솔 시내를 건너지 못하는 이백인을 머물렀고 다윗은 사백인을 거느리고 쫓아가니라

풀이: 다윗은 400명만 데리고 계속 추격했다. 나머지 200명은 너무 지쳐 브솔 시내를 건너지 못하고 거기 남았다.

But David pursued, he and four hundred men: for two hundred abode behind, which were so faint that they could not go over the brook Besor.

무리가 들에서 애굽 사람 하나를 만나 다윗에게로 데려다가 떡을 주어 먹게 하며 물을 마시우고

풀이: 그들이 들판에서 애굽 사람 하나를 발견해 다윗에게 데려왔다. 사람들은 그에게 빵을 주어 먹이고 물을 마시게 했다.

And they found an Egyptian in the field, and brought him to David, and gave him bread, and he did eat; and they made him drink water;

무화과 뭉치에서 뗀 덩이 하나와 건포도 두 송이를 주었으니 그가 낮 사흘, 밤 사흘을 떡도 먹지 못하였고 물도 마시지 못하였음이라 그가 먹고 정신을 차리매

풀이: 또 무화과 누른 떡 한 덩이와 건포도 두 송이를 주었다. 그가 먹고 나니 기운이 돌아왔다. 3일 밤낮을 먹지도 마시지도 못한 상태였던 것이다.

And they gave him a piece of a cake of figs, and two clusters of raisins: and when he had eaten, his spirit came again to him: for he had eaten no bread, nor drunk any water, three days and three nights.

다윗이 그에게 이르되 너는 뉘게 속하였으며 어디로서냐 가로되 나는 애굽 소년이요 아말렉 사람의 종이더니 사흘 전에 병이 들매 주인이 나를 버렸나이다

풀이: 다윗이 그에게 물었다. "너는 누구의 사람이며, 어디서 왔느냐?" 그가 대답했다. "저는 애굽 청년이고, 어느 아말렉 사람의 종이었습니다. 3일 전에 병이 들자 주인이 저를 버리고 갔습니다."

And David said unto him, To whom belongest thou? and whence art thou? And he said, I am a young man of Egypt, servant to an Amalekite; and my master left me, because three days agone I fell sick.

우리가 그렛 사람의 남방과 유다에 속한 지방과 갈멜 남방을 침로하고 시글락을 불살랐나이다

풀이: "저희는 그렛 사람들의 남쪽 땅과 유다에 속한 지역, 그리고 갈렙의 남쪽 땅을 습격했고, 시글락을 불태웠습니다."

We made an invasion upon the south of the Cherethites, and upon the coast which belongeth to Judah, and upon the south of Caleb; and we burned Ziklag with fire.

다윗이 그에게 이르되 네가 나를 그 군대에게로 인도하겠느냐 그가 가로되 당신이 나를 죽이지도 아니하고 내 주인의 수중에 붙이지도 아니하겠다고 하나님으로 맹세하소서 그리하면 내가 당신을 이 군대에게로 인도하리이다

풀이: 다윗이 그에게 말했다. "네가 나를 그 무리에게로 데려다줄 수 있겠느냐?" 그가 대답했다. "저를 죽이지도, 제 주인의 손에 넘기지도 않겠다고 신을 두고 맹세해 주십시오. 그러면 제가 그 무리에게로 안내하겠습니다."

And David said to him, Canst thou bring me down to this company? And he said, Swear unto me by God, that thou wilt neither kill me, nor deliver me into the hands of my master, and I will bring thee down to this company.

그가 인도하여 내려가니 그들이 온 땅에 편만하여 블레셋 사람의 땅과 유다 땅에서 크게 탈취하였음을 인하여 먹고 마시며 춤추는지라

풀이: 애굽 청년이 다윗을 데리고 내려가 보니, 아말렉 무리가 온 들판에 흩어져 먹고 마시며 춤추고 있었다. 블레셋과 유다 땅에서 약탈한 엄청난 전리품에 취해 있었던 것이다.

And when he had brought him down, behold, they were spread abroad upon all the earth, eating and drinking, and dancing, because of all the great spoil that they had taken out of the land of the Philistines, and out of the land of Judah.

다윗이 새벽부터 이튿날 저물때까지 그들을 치매 약대 타고 도망한 소년 사백명 외에는 피한 사람이 없었더라

풀이: 다윗은 어스름 새벽부터 이튿날 저녁까지 그들을 쳤다. 낙타를 타고 달아난 젊은이 400명 말고는 빠져나간 자가 한 명도 없었다.

And David smote them from the twilight even unto the evening of the next day: and there escaped not a man of them, save four hundred young men, which rode upon camels, and fled.

다윗이 아말렉 사람의 취하였던 모든 것을 도로 찾고 그 두 아내를 구원하였고

풀이: 다윗은 아말렉 사람들이 약탈해 간 모든 것을 되찾았고, 자기 두 아내도 구해 냈다.

And David recovered all that the Amalekites had carried away: and David rescued his two wives.

그들의 탈취하였던것 곧 무리의 자녀들이나 빼앗겼던 것의 대소를 물론하고 아무 것도 잃은 것이 없이 다윗이 도로 찾아왔고

풀이: 어린아이든 노인이든, 아들이든 딸이든, 약탈당한 물건이든 — 하나도 빠짐없이 다윗이 모두 되찾아 왔다.

And there was nothing lacking to them, neither small nor great, neither sons nor daughters, neither spoil, nor any thing that they had taken to them: David recovered all.

또 양떼와 소떼를 다 탈취하였더니 무리가 그 가축 앞에 몰고 가며 가로되 이는 다윗의 탈취한 것이라 하였더라

풀이: 다윗은 양 떼와 소 떼까지 모조리 거두었다. 사람들은 그 가축을 다른 짐승들 앞에 몰고 가며 외쳤다. "이것은 다윗이 거둔 전리품이다!"

And David took all the flocks and the herds, which they drave before those other cattle, and said, This is David’s spoil.

다윗이 이왕에 피곤하여 능히 자기를 따르지 못하므로 브솔 시내에 머물게 한 이백인에게 오매 그들이 다윗과 그와 함께한 백성을 영접하러 나온지라 다윗이 그 백성에게 이르러 문안하매

풀이: 다윗은 앞서 너무 지쳐 따라오지 못하고 브솔 시내에 남았던 200명에게 돌아왔다. 그들이 다윗과 그 일행을 맞으러 나왔고, 다윗은 다가가 그들의 안부를 물었다.

And David came to the two hundred men, which were so faint that they could not follow David, whom they had made also to abide at the brook Besor: and they went forth to meet David, and to meet the people that were with him: and when David came near to the people, he saluted them.

다윗과 함께 갔던 자 중에 악한 자와 비류들이 다 가로되 그들이 우리와 함께 가지 아니하였은즉 우리가 도로 찾은 물건은 무엇이든지 그들에게 주지 말고 각 사람의 처자만 주어서 데리고 떠나가게 하라 하는지라

풀이: 그런데 다윗과 함께 갔던 자들 가운데 못되고 쓸모없는 자들이 떠들었다. "이자들은 우리와 함께 가지 않았으니, 우리가 되찾은 전리품은 한 푼도 줄 수 없다. 각자 제 아내와 자식만 데리고 떠나가게 하라."

Then answered all the wicked men and men of Belial, of those that went with David, and said, Because they went not with us, we will not give them ought of the spoil that we have recovered, save to every man his wife and his children, that they may lead them away, and depart.

다윗이 가로되 나의 형제들아 여호와께서 우리를 보호하시고 우리를 치러 온 그 군대를 우리 손에 붙이셨은즉 그가 우리에게 주신 것을 너희가 이같이 못하리라

풀이: 그러자 다윗이 말했다. "형제들, 그래서는 안 된다. 이것은 신이 우리에게 주신 것이다. 신이 우리를 지켜 주셨고, 우리를 치러 온 그 무리를 우리 손에 넘겨주셨다.

Then said David, Ye shall not do so, my brethren, with that which the Lord hath given us, who hath preserved us, and delivered the company that came against us into our hand.

이 일에 누가 너희를 듣겠느냐 전장에 내려갔던 자의 분깃이나 소유물 곁에 머물렀던 자의 분깃이 일반일찌니 같이 분배할것이니라 하고

풀이: 이 일에 누가 너희 말을 들어주겠느냐? 싸우러 내려간 자의 몫이나 짐을 지키며 남은 자의 몫이나 똑같다. 똑같이 나눈다."

For who will hearken unto you in this matter? but as his part is that goeth down to the battle, so shall his part be that tarrieth by the stuff: they shall part alike.

그 날부터 다윗이 이것으로 이스라엘의 율례와 규례를 삼았더니 오늘까지 이르니라

풀이: 그날부터 다윗은 이것을 이스라엘의 규례와 법으로 삼았고, 그것은 오늘날까지 이어진다.

And it was so from that day forward, that he made it a statute and an ordinance for Israel unto this day.

다윗이 시글락에 이르러 탈취물을 그 친구 유다 장로들에게 보내어 가로되 보라 여호와의 원수에게서 탈취한 것을 너희에게 선사하노라 하고

풀이: 다윗은 시글락에 돌아와 전리품 일부를 자기 친구인 유다의 장로들에게 보내며 말했다. "보시오, 신의 원수들에게서 거둔 전리품을 그대들에게 선물로 보냅니다."

And when David came to Ziklag, he sent of the spoil unto the elders of Judah, even to his friends, saying, Behold a present for you of the spoil of the enemies of the Lord;

벧엘에 있는 자와 남방 라못에 있는 자와 얏딜에 있는 자와

풀이: 벧엘에 있는 이들, 남쪽 라못에 있는 이들, 얏딜에 있는 이들,

To them which were in Beth–el, and to them which were in south Ramoth, and to them which were in Jattir,

아로엘에 있는 자와 십못에 있는 자와 에스드모아에 있는 자와

풀이: 아로엘에 있는 이들, 십못에 있는 이들, 에스드모아에 있는 이들,

And to them which were in Aroer, and to them which were in Siphmoth, and to them which were in Eshtemoa,

라갈에 있는 자와 여라므엘 사람의 성읍들에 있는 자와 겐 사람의 성읍들에 있는 자와

풀이: 라갈에 있는 이들, 여라므엘 사람의 성읍들에 있는 이들, 겐 사람의 성읍들에 있는 이들,

And to them which were in Rachal, and to them which were in the cities of the Jerahmeelites, and to them which were in the cities of the Kenites,

홀마에 있는 자와 고라산에 있는 자와 아닥에 있는 자와 헤브론에 있는 자에게와 다윗과 그의 사람들의 왕래하던 모든 곳에 보내었더라

풀이: 홀마에 있는 이들, 고라산에 있는 이들, 아닥에 있는 이들, 헤브론에 있는 이들 — 그리고 다윗과 그의 부하들이 오가며 머물던 모든 곳에 전리품을 보냈다.

And to them which were in Hormah, and to them which were in Chor–ashan, and to them which were in Athach,
