예레미야 47장

바로가 가사를 치기 전에 블레셋 사람에 대하여 선지자 예레미야에게 임한 여호와의 말씀이라

풀이: 바로가 가사를 치기 전, 블레셋 사람들을 두고 예언자 예레미야에게 신의 말씀이 내려왔다.

The word of the Lord that came to Jeremiah the prophet against the Philistines, before that Pharaoh smote Gaza.

여호와께서 이같이 말씀하시되 보라 물이 북방에서 일어나 창일하는 시내를 이루어 그 땅과 그 중에 있는 모든 것과 그 성읍과 거기 거하는 자들을 엄몰시키리니 사람들이 부르짖으며 그 땅 모든 거민이 애곡할 것이라

풀이: 신이 이렇게 말했다. "보라, 물이 북쪽에서 솟아올라 둑을 넘는 급류를 이루고, 그 땅과 그 안의 모든 것을, 성읍과 거기 사는 사람들을 휩쓸어 버릴 것이다. 그러면 사람들이 비명을 지르고, 그 땅에 사는 모든 이가 통곡할 것이다."

Thus saith the Lord; Behold, waters rise up out of the north, and shall be an overflowing flood, and shall overflow the land, and all that is therein; the city, and them that dwell therein: then the men shall cry, and all the inhabitants of the land shall howl.

힘센 것의 굽 치는 소리와 달리는 병거 바퀴의 울리는 소리에 아비의 손이 풀려서 그 자녀를 돌아보지 못하리니

풀이: 준마들이 땅을 박차는 발굽 소리, 돌진하는 병거 소리, 굴러오는 바퀴의 굉음 — 그 앞에서 아비들은 손에 힘이 풀려, 제 자식조차 돌아보지 못한다.

At the noise of the stamping of the hoofs of his strong horses, at the rushing of his chariots, and at the rumbling of his wheels, the fathers shall not look back to their children for feebleness of hands;

이는 블레셋 사람을 진멸하시며 두로와 시돈에 남아 있는바 도와줄 자를 다 끊어버리시는 날이 이름이라 여호와께서 갑돌섬에 남아 있는 블레셋 사람을 멸하시리라

풀이: 블레셋 사람을 모조리 약탈하고, 두로와 시돈에 아직 남아 도와줄 자를 하나도 남김없이 끊어 버리는 날이 오기 때문이다. 신이 블레셋 사람을, 곧 갑돌섬에서 건너온 그 남은 자들을 약탈할 것이다.

Because of the day that cometh to spoil all the Philistines, and to cut off from Tyrus and Zidon every helper that remaineth: for the Lord will spoil the Philistines, the remnant of the country of Caphtor.

가사가 삭발되었고 아스글론과 그들에게 남아 있는 평지가 멸망되었나니 네가 네 몸 베기를 어느 때까지 하겠느냐

풀이: 가사는 머리를 밀어 민둥머리가 되었고, 아스글론은, 그 골짜기에 남아 있던 자들과 함께 멸망해 잠잠해졌다. 너는 언제까지 네 몸을 베며 곡하려느냐?

Baldness is come upon Gaza; Ashkelon is cut off with the remnant of their valley: how long wilt thou cut thyself?

여호와의 칼이여 네가 언제까지 쉬지 않겠느냐 네 집에 들어가서 가만히 쉴찌어다

풀이: "아, 신의 칼이여! 너는 언제까지 멈추지 않으려느냐? 네 칼집으로 들어가, 거두고 잠잠하여라."

O thou sword of the Lord, how long will it be ere thou be quiet? put up thyself into thy scabbard, rest, and be still.

여호와께서 이를 명하셨은즉 어떻게 쉬겠느냐 아스글론과 해변을 치려 하여 그가 명정하셨느니라

풀이: 그러나 신이 그 칼에게 명령을 내렸는데, 어찌 멈추겠느냐? 아스글론과 바닷가를 치라고, 신이 거기로 그 칼을 불러 세워 두었다.

How can it be quiet, seeing the Lord hath given it a charge against Ashkelon, and against the sea shore? there hath he appointed it.
