역대하 9장

스바 여왕이 솔로몬의 명예를 듣고 와서 어려운 문제로 솔로몬을 시험코자하여 예루살렘에 이르니 수원이 심히 많고 향품과 많은 금과 보석을 약대에 실었더라 저가 솔로몬에게 나아와 자기 마음에 있는 것을 다 말하매

풀이: 스바 여왕은 솔로몬에 관한 소문을 듣고, 풀기 어려운 수수께끼로 그를 시험해 보려고 예루살렘으로 왔다. 아주 큰 행렬을 거느렸고, 향료와 막대한 금과 보석을 실은 낙타들을 데려왔다. 솔로몬에게 다다른 그는 마음에 품고 있던 것을 하나도 빠짐없이 다 풀어놓았다.

And when the queen of Sheba heard of the fame of Solomon, she came to prove Solomon with hard questions at Jerusalem, with a very great company, and camels that bare spices, and gold in abundance, and precious stones: and when she was come to Solomon, she communed with him of all that was in her heart.

솔로몬이 그 묻는 말을 다 대답하였으니 솔로몬이 은미하여 대답지 못한 것이 없었더라

풀이: 솔로몬은 그가 묻는 것마다 모두 답해 주었다. 솔로몬이 깨닫지 못해 일러 주지 못한 것이 하나도 없었다.

And Solomon told her all her questions: and there was nothing hid from Solomon which he told her not.

스바 여왕이 솔로몬의 지혜와 그 건축한 궁과

풀이: 스바 여왕은 솔로몬의 지혜를, 그리고 그가 지은 궁을 보았다.

And when the queen of Sheba had seen the wisdom of Solomon, and the house that he had built,

그 상의 식물과 그 신복들의 좌석과 그 신하들의 시립한 것과 그들의 공복과 술 관원들과 그들의 공복과 여호와의 전에 올라가는 층계를 보고 정신이 현황하여

풀이: 그의 식탁에 오른 음식, 신하들이 앉은 자리, 시중드는 관원들이 늘어선 모습과 그들의 차림새, 술을 올리는 관원들과 그 차림새, 그리고 그가 신의 전으로 올라가던 층계까지 — 다 보고 나자, 여왕은 숨이 멎을 듯했다.

And the meat of his table, and the sitting of his servants, and the attendance of his ministers, and their apparel; his cupbearers also, and their apparel; and his ascent by which he went up into the house of the Lord; there was no more spirit in her.

왕께 고하되 내가 내 나라에서 당신의 행위와 당신의 지혜에 대하여 들은 소문이 진실하도다

풀이: 여왕이 왕에게 말했다. "제가 제 나라에서 당신이 이룬 일과 당신의 지혜에 대해 들은 소문은 사실이었습니다.

And she said to the king, It was a true report which I heard in mine own land of thine acts, and of thy wisdom:

내가 그 말들을 믿지 아니하였더니 이제 와서 목도한즉 당신의 지혜가 크다 한 말이 그 절반도 못 되니 당신은 내가 들은 소문보다 지나도다

풀이: 와서 이 눈으로 직접 보기 전까지는 그 말들을 믿지 못했습니다. 그런데 와 보니, 당신 지혜의 위대함은 제가 들은 것의 절반도 전해지지 않았더군요. 당신은 소문으로 들은 것을 훨씬 뛰어넘습니다.

Howbeit I believed not their words, until I came, and mine eyes had seen it: and, behold, the one half of the greatness of thy wisdom was not told me: for thou exceedest the fame that I heard.

복되도다 당신의 사람들이여, 복되도다 당신의 이 신복들이여, 항상 당신의 앞에 서서 당신의 지혜를 들음이로다

풀이: 당신의 사람들은 복됩니다. 늘 당신 앞에 서서 당신의 지혜를 듣는 이 신하들도 복됩니다.

Happy are thy men, and happy are these thy servants, which stand continually before thee, and hear thy wisdom.

당신의 하나님 여호와를 송축할찌로다 하나님이 당신을 기뻐하시고 그 위에 올리사 당신의 하나님 여호와를 위하여 왕이 되게 하셨도다 당신의 하나님이 이스라엘을 사랑하사 영원히 견고하게 하시려고 당신을 세워 저희 왕을 삼아 공과 의를 행하게 하셨도다 하고

풀이: 당신의 신을 찬송합니다. 신께서 당신을 기뻐하시어 그분의 왕좌에 앉혀, 당신의 신을 위한 왕이 되게 하셨습니다. 당신의 신께서 이스라엘을 사랑하시어 그들을 영원히 굳게 세우려고, 당신을 그들의 왕으로 세워 공정과 정의를 행하게 하신 것입니다."

Blessed be the Lord thy God, which delighted in thee to set thee on his throne, to be king for the Lord thy God: because thy God loved Israel, to establish them for ever, therefore made he thee king over them, to do judgment and justice.

이에 저가 금 일백 이십 달란트와 심히 많은 향품과 보석을 왕께 드렸으니 스바 여왕이 솔로몬왕께 드린 향품 같은 것이 전에는 없었더라

풀이: 그러고는 여왕이 왕에게 금 120달란트와, 아주 많은 향료와 보석을 선물했다. 스바 여왕이 솔로몬왕에게 바친 향료 같은 것은 전에 없던 것이었다.

And she gave the king an hundred and twenty talents of gold, and of spices great abundance, and precious stones: neither was there any such spice as the queen of Sheba gave king Solomon.

(후람의 신복들과 솔로몬의 신복들도 오빌에서 금을 실어 올 때에 백단목과 보석을 가져온지라

풀이: 후람의 종들과 솔로몬의 종들도 오빌에서 금을 실어 올 때 백단목과 보석을 함께 가져왔다.

And the servants also of Huram, and the servants of Solomon, which brought gold from Ophir, brought algum trees and precious stones.

왕이 백단목으로 여호와의 전과 왕궁의 층대를 만들고 또 노래하는 자를 위하여 수금과 비파를 만들었으니 이같은 것들은 유다 땅에서 전에는 보지 못하였더라)

풀이: 왕은 그 백단목으로 신의 전과 왕궁의 계단을 만들고, 노래하는 자들을 위해 수금과 비파도 만들었다. 이런 것들은 유다 땅에서 전에 본 적이 없었다.

And the king made of the algum trees terraces to the house of the Lord, and to the king’s palace, and harps and psalteries for singers: and there were none such seen before in the land of Judah.

솔로몬왕이 스바 여왕의 가져온대로 답례하고 그외에 또 저의 소원대로 무릇 구하는 것을 주니 이에 저가 그 신복들로 더불어 본국으로 돌아갔더라

풀이: 솔로몬왕은 스바 여왕이 가져온 것에 답례했고, 그 밖에도 여왕이 청하는 것은 무엇이든 그가 바라는 대로 다 주었다. 그러자 여왕은 신하들과 함께 자기 나라로 돌아갔다.

And king Solomon gave to the queen of Sheba all her desire, whatsoever she asked, beside that which she had brought unto the king. So she turned, and went away to her own land, she and her servants.

솔로몬의 세입금의 중수가 육백 육십 륙 금 달란트요

풀이: 솔로몬에게 한 해 동안 들어온 금의 무게는 666달란트였다.

Now the weight of gold that came to Solomon in one year was six hundred and threescore and six talents of gold;

그 외에 또 상고와 객상들의 가져온 것이 있고 아라비아 왕들과 그 나라 방백들도 금과 은을 솔로몬에게 가져온지라

풀이: 그 밖에도 떠돌이 상인과 무역상들이 가져온 것이 있었고, 아라비아의 모든 왕과 그 땅의 지방 장관들도 솔로몬에게 금과 은을 가져왔다.

Beside that which chapmen and merchants brought. And all the kings of Arabia and governors of the country brought gold and silver to Solomon.

솔로몬왕이 쳐서 늘인 금으로 큰 방패 이백을 만들었으니 매 방패에 든 금이 육백 세겔이며

풀이: 솔로몬왕은 두드려 편 금으로 큰 방패 200개를 만들었는데, 방패 하나에 든 금이 600세겔이었다.

And king Solomon made two hundred targets of beaten gold: six hundred shekels of beaten gold went to one target.

또 쳐서 늘인 금으로 작은 방패 삼백을 만들었으니 매 방패에 든 금이 삼백 세겔이라 왕이 이것들을 레바논나무 궁에 두었더라

풀이: 또 두드려 편 금으로 작은 방패 300개를 만들었는데, 방패 하나에 든 금이 300세겔이었다. 왕은 이것들을 레바논 숲 궁에 두었다.

And three hundred shields made he of beaten gold: three hundred shekels of gold went to one shield. And the king put them in the house of the forest of Lebanon.

왕이 또 상아로 큰 보좌를 만들고 정금으로 입혔으니

풀이: 왕은 또 상아로 큰 보좌를 만들고 순금을 입혔다.

Moreover the king made a great throne of ivory, and overlaid it with pure gold.

그 보좌에는 여섯 층계와 금 족대가 있어 보좌와 연하였고 앉는 자리 양편에는 팔걸이가 있고 팔걸이 곁에는 사자가 하나씩 섰으며

풀이: 그 보좌에는 여섯 층계와, 보좌에 잇닿은 금 발판이 있었다. 앉는 자리 양쪽에는 팔걸이가 있고, 팔걸이 곁에는 사자가 한 마리씩 서 있었다.

And there were six steps to the throne, with a footstool of gold, which were fastened to the throne, and stays on each side of the sitting place, and two lions standing by the stays:

또 열 두 사자가 있어 그 여섯 층계 좌우편에 섰으니 아무 나라에도 이같이 만든 것이 없었더라

풀이: 여섯 층계 좌우에는 또 열두 마리의 사자가 서 있었다. 이렇게 만든 것은 어느 나라에도 없었다.

And twelve lions stood there on the one side and on the other upon the six steps. There was not the like made in any kingdom.

솔로몬왕의 마시는 그릇은 다 금이요 레바논나무 궁의 그릇들도 다 정금이라 솔로몬의 시대에 은을 귀히 여기지 아니함은

풀이: 솔로몬왕이 마시는 그릇은 모두 금이었고, 레바논 숲 궁의 그릇들도 다 순금이었다. 솔로몬 시대에는 은을 귀하게 여기지 않았다.

And all the drinking vessels of king Solomon were of gold, and all the vessels of the house of the forest of Lebanon were of pure gold: none were of silver; it was not any thing accounted of in the days of Solomon.

왕의 배들이 후람의 종들과 함께 다시스로 다니며 그 배가 삼년에 일차씩 금과 은과 상아와 잔나비와 공작을 실어옴이더라

풀이: 왕의 배들이 후람의 종들과 함께 다시스로 다녔는데, 그 다시스의 배는 3년에 한 번씩 금과 은과 상아와 원숭이와 공작을 실어 왔다.

For the king’s ships went to Tarshish with the servants of Huram: every three years once came the ships of Tarshish bringing gold, and silver, ivory, and apes, and peacocks.

솔로몬왕의 재산과 지혜가 천하 열왕보다 큰지라

풀이: 솔로몬왕은 재산과 지혜에서 세상의 모든 왕을 능가했다.

And king Solomon passed all the kings of the earth in riches and wisdom.

천하 열왕이 하나님께서 솔로몬의 마음에 주신 지혜를 들으며 그 얼굴을 보기 원하여

풀이: 세상의 모든 왕이 신께서 솔로몬의 마음에 넣어 주신 지혜를 들으려고 그의 얼굴 보기를 원했다.

And all the kings of the earth sought the presence of Solomon, to hear his wisdom, that God had put in his heart.

각기 예물을 가지고 왔으니 곧 은 그릇과 금 그릇과 의복과 갑옷과 향품과 말과 노새라 해마다 정한 수가 있었더라

풀이: 그들은 저마다 예물을 가지고 왔으니, 은그릇과 금그릇, 의복과 갑옷, 향료와 말과 노새였다. 해마다 정해진 양이 있었다.

And they brought every man his present, vessels of silver, and vessels of gold, and raiment, harness, and spices, horses, and mules, a rate year by year.

솔로몬의 병거 메는 말의 외양간이 사천이요 마병이 일만 이천이라 병거성에도 두고 예루살렘 왕에게도 두었으며

풀이: 솔로몬에게는 말과 병거를 두는 외양간이 4,000칸, 기병이 12,000명 있었다. 그는 이들을 병거를 두는 성읍들에 배치하고, 일부는 예루살렘의 왕 곁에 두었다.

And Solomon had four thousand stalls for horses and chariots, and twelve thousand horsemen; whom he bestowed in the chariot cities, and with the king at Jerusalem.

솔로몬이 유브라데강에서부터 블레셋 땅과 애굽 지경까지의 열왕을 관할하였으며

풀이: 솔로몬은 유프라테스강에서 블레셋 땅과 이집트 국경에 이르기까지 모든 왕을 다스렸다.

And he reigned over all the kings from the river even unto the land of the Philistines, and to the border of Egypt.

왕이 예루살렘에서 은을 돌 같이 흔하게 하고 백향목을 평지의 뽕나무 같이 많게 하였더라

풀이: 왕은 예루살렘에서 은을 길바닥의 돌처럼 흔하게 했고, 백향목을 평지의 뽕나무처럼 많게 했다.

And the king made silver in Jerusalem as stones, and cedar trees made he as the sycomore trees that are in the low plains in abundance.

솔로몬을 위하여 애굽과 각국에서 말들을 내어왔더라

풀이: 솔로몬에게는 이집트와 여러 나라에서 말들을 들여왔다.

And they brought unto Solomon horses out of Egypt, and out of all lands.

이 외에 솔로몬의 시종 행적은 선지자 나단의 글과 실로 사람 아히야의 예언과 선견자 잇도의 묵시 책 곧 잇도가 느밧의 아들 여로보암에게 대하여 쓴 책에 기록되지 아니하였느냐

풀이: 솔로몬의 나머지 행적은 처음부터 끝까지, 예언자 나단의 글과 실로 사람 아히야의 예언, 그리고 선견자 잇도가 느밧의 아들 여로보암에 관해 기록한 묵시의 책에 적혀 있지 않은가.

Now the rest of the acts of Solomon, first and last, are they not written in the book of Nathan the prophet, and in the prophecy of Ahijah the Shilonite, and in the visions of Iddo the seer against Jeroboam the son of Nebat?

솔로몬이 예루살렘에서 온 이스라엘을 다스린지 사십년이라

풀이: 솔로몬은 예루살렘에서 온 이스라엘을 40년 동안 다스렸다.

And Solomon reigned in Jerusalem over all Israel forty years.

솔로몬이 그 열조와 함께 자매 그 부친 다윗의 성에 장사되고 그 아들 르호보암이 대신하여 왕이 되니라

풀이: 그러고서 솔로몬은 조상들과 함께 잠들어, 그 아버지 다윗의 성에 묻혔다. 그의 아들 르호보암이 뒤를 이어 왕이 되었다.

And Solomon slept with his fathers, and he was buried in the city of David his father: and Rehoboam his son reigned in his stead.
