열왕기상 10장

스바 여왕이 여호와의 이름으로 말미암은 솔로몬의 명예를 듣고 와서 어려운 문제로 저를 시험코자 하여

풀이: 스바 여왕이 신의 이름과 얽힌 솔로몬의 명성을 전해 듣고, 그를 어려운 수수께끼로 시험해 보려고 길을 나섰다.

And when the queen of Sheba heard of the fame of Solomon concerning the name of the Lord, she came to prove him with hard questions.

예루살렘에 이르니 수원이 심히 많고 향품과 심히 많은 금과 보석을 약대에 실었더라 저가 솔로몬에게 나아와 자기 마음에 있는 것을 다 말하매

풀이: 그는 어마어마한 행렬을 거느리고 예루살렘에 이르렀다. 낙타에는 향료와 엄청난 양의 금과 보석이 실려 있었다. 솔로몬 앞에 나아간 그는 마음에 품고 있던 모든 것을 털어놓았다.

And she came to Jerusalem with a very great train, with camels that bare spices, and very much gold, and precious stones: and when she was come to Solomon, she communed with him of all that was in her heart.

솔로몬이 그 묻는 말을 다 대답하였으니 왕이 은미하여 대답지 못한 것이 없었더라

풀이: 솔로몬은 그가 묻는 말에 하나도 빠짐없이 답했다. 왕이 풀어 주지 못할 만큼 깊고 어려운 것은 하나도 없었다.

And Solomon told her all her questions: there was not any thing hid from the king, which he told her not.

스바 여왕이 솔로몬의 모든 지혜와 그 건축한 궁과

풀이: 스바 여왕은 솔로몬의 그 모든 지혜와, 그가 지은 궁전을 보았다.

And when the queen of Sheba had seen all Solomon’s wisdom, and the house that he had built,

그 상의 식물과 그 신복들의 좌석과 그 신하들의 시립한 것과 그들의 공복과 술관원들과 여호와의 전에 올라가는 층계를 보고 정신이 현황하여

풀이: 상에 차려진 음식, 신하들이 둘러앉은 모습, 시중드는 관리들의 도열, 그들이 갖춰 입은 예복, 술 따르는 시종들, 그리고 그가 신의 전으로 오를 때 밟는 층계 — 이 모든 것을 보고 그는 그만 넋이 나가 숨이 멎을 지경이 되었다.

And the meat of his table, and the sitting of his servants, and the attendance of his ministers, and their apparel, and his cupbearers, and his ascent by which he went up unto the house of the Lord; there was no more spirit in her.

왕께 고하되 내가 내 나라에서 당신의 행위와 당신의 지혜에 대하여 들은 소문이 진실하도다

풀이: 그가 왕에게 말했다. "제 나라에서 당신이 이룬 일과 당신의 지혜에 대해 들은 그 소문이 다 사실이었습니다."

And she said to the king, It was a true report that I heard in mine own land of thy acts and of thy wisdom.

내가 그 말들을 믿지 아니하였더니 이제 와서 목도한즉 내게 말한 것은 절반도 못되니 당신의 지혜와 복이 나의 들은 소문에 지나도다

풀이: "와서 이 두 눈으로 직접 보기 전까지는 그 말들을 믿지 않았습니다. 그런데 정작 와 보니 제가 들은 것은 절반에도 미치지 못하는군요. 당신의 지혜와 번영은 제가 들은 소문을 훌쩍 뛰어넘습니다."

Howbeit I believed not the words, until I came, and mine eyes had seen it: and, behold, the half was not told me: thy wisdom and prosperity exceedeth the fame which I heard.

복되도다 당신의 사람들이여 복되도다 당신의 이 신복들이여 항상 당신의 앞에 서서 당신의 지혜를 들음이로다

풀이: "복되어라, 당신의 사람들! 복되어라, 늘 당신 앞에 서서 그 지혜를 듣는 이 신하들!"

Happy are thy men, happy are these thy servants, which stand continually before thee, and that hear thy wisdom.

당신의 하나님 여호와를 송축할찌로다 여호와께서 당신을 기뻐하사 이스라엘 위에 올리셨고 여호와께서 영영히 이스라엘을 사랑하시므로 당신을 세워 왕을 삼아 공과 의를 행하게 하셨도다 하고

풀이: "당신의 신을 찬송합니다. 그분이 당신을 기뻐하셔서 이스라엘의 왕좌에 앉히셨습니다. 신께서 이스라엘을 영원히 사랑하시기에, 당신을 세워 왕으로 삼아 공정과 정의를 행하게 하신 것입니다."

Blessed be the Lord thy God, which delighted in thee, to set thee on the throne of Israel: because the Lord loved Israel for ever, therefore made he thee king, to do judgment and justice.

이에 저가 금 일백 이십 달란트와 심히 많은 향품과 보석을 왕께 드렸으니 스바 여왕이 솔로몬왕께 드린 것처럼 많은 향품이 다시 오지 아니하였더라

풀이: 그러고는 왕에게 금 120달란트와 어마어마한 양의 향료와 보석을 바쳤다. 스바 여왕이 솔로몬 왕에게 바친 것만큼 많은 향료가 그 뒤로 다시 들어온 적이 없었다.

And she gave the king an hundred and twenty talents of gold, and of spices very great store, and precious stones: there came no more such abundance of spices as these which the queen of Sheba gave to king Solomon.

[오빌에서부터 금을 실어온 히람의 배들이 오빌에서 많은 백단목과 보석을 운반하여 오매

풀이: 한편 오빌에서 금을 실어 오던 히람의 선단은, 오빌에서 백단목과 보석도 잔뜩 실어 왔다.

And the navy also of Hiram, that brought gold from Ophir, brought in from Ophir great plenty of almug trees, and precious stones.

왕이 백단목으로 여호와의 전과 왕궁의 난간을 만들고 또 노래하는 자를 위하여 수금과 비파를 만들었으니 이같은 백단목은 전에도 온 일이 없었고 오늘까지도 보지 못하였더라]

풀이: 왕은 그 백단목으로 신의 전과 왕궁의 기둥을 만들고, 노래하는 이들을 위해 수금과 비파도 만들었다. 이만한 백단목은 그전에도 들어온 적이 없고, 오늘에 이르기까지 다시 본 적이 없다.

And the king made of the almug trees pillars for the house of the Lord, and for the king’s house, harps also and psalteries for singers: there came no such almug trees, nor were seen unto this day.

솔로몬왕이 왕의 규례대로 스바 여왕에게 물건을 준 외에 또 저의 소원대로 무릇 구하는 것을 주니 이에 저가 그 신복들로 더불어 본국으로 돌아갔더라

풀이: 솔로몬 왕은 왕실의 관례에 따라 베푼 선물 외에도, 스바 여왕이 원하고 청하는 것은 무엇이든 다 주었다. 그러고 나서 여왕은 신하들과 함께 자기 나라로 돌아갔다.

And king Solomon gave unto the queen of Sheba all her desire, whatsoever she asked, beside that which Solomon gave her of his royal bounty. So she turned and went to her own country, she and her servants.

솔로몬의 세입금의 중수가 육백 륙십 륙 금 달란트요

풀이: 솔로몬에게 한 해 들어오는 금의 무게는 666달란트였다.

Now the weight of gold that came to Solomon in one year was six hundred threescore and six talents of gold,

그 외에 또 상고와 무역하는 객상과 아라비아 왕들과 나라의 방백들에게서도 가져온지라

풀이: 그 밖에도 떠돌이 상인들과 무역상들, 아라비아의 여러 왕, 그리고 각 지방의 총독들에게서 들어오는 것이 또 있었다.

Beside that he had of the merchantmen, and of the traffick of the spice merchants, and of all the kings of Arabia, and of the governors of the country.

솔로몬왕이 쳐서 늘인 금으로 큰 방패 이백을 만들었으니 매 방패에 든 금이 육백 세겔이며

풀이: 솔로몬 왕은 두드려 편 금으로 큰 방패 200개를 만들었는데, 방패 하나에 든 금이 600세겔이었다.

And king Solomon made two hundred targets of beaten gold: six hundred shekels of gold went to one target.

또 쳐서 늘인 금으로 작은 방패 삼백을 만들었으니 매 방패에 든 금이 삼 마네라 왕이 이것들을 레바논 나무 궁에 두었더라

풀이: 또 두드려 편 금으로 작은 방패 300개를 만들었는데, 방패 하나에 든 금이 3마네였다. 왕은 이것들을 레바논 숲 궁에 두었다.

And he made three hundred shields of beaten gold; three pound of gold went to one shield: and the king put them in the house of the forest of Lebanon.

왕이 또 상아로 큰 보좌를 만들고 정금으로 입혔으니

풀이: 왕은 또 상아로 거대한 보좌를 만들고 그것을 정제한 순금으로 입혔다.

Moreover the king made a great throne of ivory, and overlaid it with the best gold.

그 보좌에는 여섯 층계가 있고 보좌 뒤에 둥근 머리가 있고 앉는 자리 양편에는 팔걸이가 있고 팔걸이 곁에는 사자가 하나씩 섰으며

풀이: 그 보좌에는 여섯 층계가 있었고, 등받이 꼭대기는 둥글었다. 앉는 자리 양옆에는 팔걸이가 있었고, 그 팔걸이 곁에는 사자가 한 마리씩 서 있었다.

The throne had six steps, and the top of the throne was round behind: and there were stays on either side on the place of the seat, and two lions stood beside the stays.

또 열 두 사자가 있어 그 여섯 층계 좌우편에 섰으니 아무 나라에도 이같이 만든 것이 없었더라

풀이: 여섯 층계 좌우에도 사자 열두 마리가 서 있었다. 어느 나라에서도 이렇게 만든 것은 없었다.

And twelve lions stood there on the one side and on the other upon the six steps: there was not the like made in any kingdom.

솔로몬왕의 마시는 그릇은 다 금이요 레바논 나무 궁의 그릇들도 다 정금이라 은 기물이 없으니 솔로몬의 시대에 은을 귀히 여기지 아니함은

풀이: 솔로몬 왕이 마시는 그릇은 모두 금이었고, 레바논 숲 궁의 그릇들도 다 순금이었다. 은으로 만든 것은 하나도 없었으니, 솔로몬의 시대에는 은을 대수롭지 않게 여겼기 때문이다.

And all king Solomon’s drinking vessels were of gold, and all the vessels of the house of the forest of Lebanon were of pure gold; none were of silver: it was nothing accounted of in the days of Solomon.

왕이 바다에 다시스 배들을 두어 히람의 배와 함께 있게 하고 그 다시스 배로 삼년에 일차씩 금과 은과 상아와 잔나비와 공작을 실어 왔음이더라

풀이: 왕은 바다에 다시스 선단을 두어 히람의 선단과 함께 다니게 했다. 이 다시스 선단은 3년에 한 번씩 금과 은과 상아, 그리고 원숭이와 공작을 싣고 들어왔다.

For the king had at sea a navy of Tharshish with the navy of Hiram: once in three years came the navy of Tharshish, bringing gold, and silver, ivory, and apes, and peacocks.

솔로몬왕의 재산과 지혜가 천하 열왕보다 큰지라

풀이: 이렇게 솔로몬 왕은 재산에서나 지혜에서나 세상 모든 왕을 능가했다.

So king Solomon exceeded all the kings of the earth for riches and for wisdom.

천하가 다 하나님께서 솔로몬의 마음에 주신 지혜를 들으며 그 얼굴을 보기 원하여

풀이: 온 세상이 신께서 솔로몬의 마음에 심어 주신 지혜를 들으려고 그를 찾았다.

And all the earth sought to Solomon, to hear his wisdom, which God had put in his heart.

각기 예물을 가지고 왔으니 곧 은 그릇과 금 그릇과 의복과 갑옷과 향품과 말과 노새라 해마다 정한 수가 있었더라

풀이: 사람들은 저마다 예물을 가지고 왔다 — 은그릇과 금그릇, 옷과 갑옷, 향료와 말과 노새였다. 해마다 정해진 양이 그렇게 들어왔다.

And they brought every man his present, vessels of silver, and vessels of gold, and garments, and armour, and spices, horses, and mules, a rate year by year.

솔로몬이 병거와 마병을 모으매 병거가 일천 사백이요 마병이 일만 이천이라 병거성에도 두고 예루살렘 왕에게도 두었으며

풀이: 솔로몬은 병거와 기마를 끌어모았다. 병거가 1400대, 기마가 1만 2000필이었다. 그는 이것들을 병거를 두는 성들에 배치하고, 일부는 예루살렘의 왕 곁에 두었다.

And Solomon gathered together chariots and horsemen: and he had a thousand and four hundred chariots, and twelve thousand horsemen, whom he bestowed in the cities for chariots, and with the king at Jerusalem.

왕이 예루살렘에서 은을 돌 같이 흔하게 하고 백향목을 평지의 뽕나무 같이 많게 하였더라

풀이: 왕은 예루살렘에서 은을 돌멩이처럼 흔하게 만들었고, 백향목을 평지의 뽕나무처럼 널리게 했다.

And the king made silver to be in Jerusalem as stones, and cedars made he to be as the sycomore trees that are in the vale, for abundance.

솔로몬의 말들은 애굽에서 내어왔으니 왕의 상고들이 떼로 정가하여 산 것이며

풀이: 솔로몬의 말들은 이집트에서 들여온 것이었다. 왕의 무역상들이 떼로 사들여 정해진 값에 가져왔다.

And Solomon had horses brought out of Egypt, and linen yarn: the king’s merchants received the linen yarn at a price.

애굽에서 내어올린 병거는 하나에 은 육백 세겔이요 말은 일백 오십 세겔이라 이와 같이 헷 사람의 모든 왕과 아람 왕들을 위하여도 그 손으로 내어왔더라

풀이: 이집트에서 들여온 병거는 한 대에 은 600세겔, 말은 150세겔이었다. 이렇게 헷 사람의 모든 왕과 아람의 왕들을 위해서도, 그들이 같은 경로로 들여다 주었다.

And a chariot came up and went out of Egypt for six hundred shekels of silver, and an horse for an hundred and fifty: and so for all the kings of the Hittites, and for the kings of Syria, did they bring them out by their means.
