이사야 11장

이새의 줄기에서 한 싹이 나며 그 뿌리에서 한 가지가 나서 결실할 것이요

풀이: 베어진 이새의 그루터기에서 어린 싹 하나가 돋아나고, 그 뿌리에서 가지 하나가 뻗어 열매를 맺을 것이다.

And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots:

여호와의 신 곧 지혜와 총명의 신이요 모략과 재능의 신이요 지식과 여호와를 경외하는 신이 그 위에 강림하시리니

풀이: 신의 영이 그 위에 내려와 머물 것이다. 지혜와 분별의 영, 조언과 용맹의 영, 지식과 신을 경외하는 영이.

And the spirit of the Lord shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord;

그가 여호와를 경외함으로 즐거움을 삼을 것이며 그 눈에 보이는대로 심판치 아니하며 귀에 들리는대로 판단치 아니하며

풀이: 그는 신을 경외하는 데서 기쁨을 누리고, 눈에 보이는 겉모습만으로 재판하지 않으며, 귀에 들리는 말만으로 판결하지 않을 것이다.

And shall make him of quick understanding in the fear of the Lord: and he shall not judge after the sight of his eyes, neither reprove after the hearing of his ears:

공의로 빈핍한 자를 심판하며 정직으로 세상의 겸손한 자를 판단할 것이며 그 입의 막대기로 세상을 치며 입술의 기운으로 악인을 죽일 것이며

풀이: 오히려 가난한 자를 정의로 재판하고, 땅의 짓눌린 자를 공정하게 변호할 것이다. 그 입의 막대기로 땅을 치고, 입술의 숨결로 악인을 쓰러뜨릴 것이다.

But with righteousness shall he judge the poor, and reprove with equity for the meek of the earth: and he shall smite the earth with the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of his lips shall he slay the wicked.

공의로 그 허리띠를 삼으며 성실로 몸의 띠를 삼으리라

풀이: 정의가 그의 허리띠가 되고, 신실함이 그의 몸을 두르는 띠가 될 것이다.

And righteousness shall be the girdle of his loins, and faithfulness the girdle of his reins.

그 때에 이리가 어린 양과 함께 거하며 표범이 어린 염소와 함께 누우며 송아지와 어린 사자와 살찐 짐승이 함께 있어 어린 아이에게 끌리며

풀이: 그때 늑대가 어린 양과 더불어 살고, 표범이 새끼 염소와 나란히 눕는다. 송아지와 어린 사자와 살진 짐승이 한데 어울리고, 어린아이가 그것들을 몰고 다닌다.

The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid; and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead them.

암소와 곰이 함께 먹으며 그것들의 새끼가 함께 엎드리며 사자가 소처럼 풀을 먹을 것이며

풀이: 암소와 곰이 함께 풀을 뜯고, 그 새끼들이 나란히 엎드린다. 사자도 소처럼 여물을 먹는다.

And the cow and the bear shall feed; their young ones shall lie down together: and the lion shall eat straw like the ox.

젖먹는 아이가 독사의 구멍에서 장난하며 젖뗀 어린 아이가 독사의 굴에 손을 넣을 것이라

풀이: 젖먹이가 독사의 구멍 곁에서 놀고, 젖 뗀 아이가 살무사의 굴에 손을 들이밀어도 다치지 않는다.

And the sucking child shall play on the hole of the asp, and the weaned child shall put his hand on the cockatrice’ den.

나의 거룩한 산 모든 곳에서 해됨도 없고 상함도 없을 것이니 이는 물이 바다를 덮음 같이 여호와를 아는 지식이 세상에 충만할 것임이니라

풀이: 나의 거룩한 산 어디에서도 해치는 일도, 망가뜨리는 일도 없을 것이다. 물이 바다를 가득 덮듯이, 신을 아는 지식이 온 땅에 가득 찰 것이기 때문이다.

They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain: for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea.

그 날에 이새의 뿌리에서 한 싹이 나서 만민의 기호로 설 것이요 열방이 그에게로 돌아오리니 그 거한 곳이 영화로우리라

풀이: 그날에는 이새의 뿌리가 뭇 백성을 향해 세운 깃발처럼 우뚝 설 것이요, 여러 민족이 그를 찾아올 것이다. 그가 머무는 곳은 영광스러우리라.

And in that day there shall be a root of Jesse, which shall stand for an ensign of the people; to it shall the Gentiles seek: and his rest shall be glorious.

그 날에 주께서 다시 손을 펴사 그 남은 백성을 앗수르와 애굽과 바드로스와 구스와 엘람과 시날과 하맛과 바다 섬들에서 돌아오게 하실 것이라

풀이: 그날에 주는 다시 한번 손을 뻗어, 살아남은 자기 백성을 되찾아 올 것이다. 앗수르와 애굽, 바드로스와 구스, 엘람과 시날과 하맛, 그리고 바다 건너 섬들에서.

And it shall come to pass in that day, that the Lord shall set his hand again the second time to recover the remnant of his people, which shall be left, from Assyria, and from Egypt, and from Pathros, and from Cush, and from Elam, and from Shinar, and from Hamath, and from the islands of the sea.

여호와께서 열방을 향하여 기호를 세우시고 이스라엘의 쫓긴 자를 모으시며 땅 사방에서 유다의 이산한 자를 모으시리니

풀이: 그는 뭇 민족을 향해 깃발을 세우고, 흩어진 이스라엘 사람들을 모으며, 땅끝 사방에 흩어진 유다 사람들을 그러모을 것이다.

And he shall set up an ensign for the nations, and shall assemble the outcasts of Israel, and gather together the dispersed of Judah from the four corners of the earth.

에브라임의 투기는 없어지고 유다를 괴롭게 하던 자는 끊어지며 에브라임은 유다를 투기하지 아니하며 유다는 에브라임을 괴롭게 하지 아니할 것이요

풀이: 에브라임의 시샘은 사라지고, 유다를 괴롭히던 자들은 끊어질 것이다. 에브라임은 더 이상 유다를 시기하지 않고, 유다는 에브라임을 괴롭히지 않을 것이다.

The envy also of Ephraim shall depart, and the adversaries of Judah shall be cut off: Ephraim shall not envy Judah, and Judah shall not vex Ephraim.

그들이 서으로 블레셋 사람의 어깨에 날아앉고 함께 동방 백성을 노략하며 에돔과 모압에 손을 대며 암몬 자손을 자기에게 복종시키리라

풀이: 그들은 서쪽으로 블레셋의 비탈을 덮치고, 손을 모아 동방의 백성을 약탈할 것이다. 에돔과 모압에 손을 뻗고, 암몬 자손을 복종시킬 것이다.

But they shall fly upon the shoulders of the Philistines toward the west; they shall spoil them of the east together: they shall lay their hand upon Edom and Moab; and the children of Ammon shall obey them.

여호와께서 애굽 해고를 말리우시고 손을 유브라데 하수 위에 흔들어 뜨거운 바람을 일으켜서 그 하수를 쳐서 일곱 갈래로 나눠 신 신고 건너가게 하실 것이라

풀이: 신은 애굽 바다의 혀처럼 뻗은 만을 말려 버리고, 유프라테스 강 위로 손을 흔들어 뜨거운 바람을 일으킬 것이다. 그 강을 쳐서 일곱 갈래로 가르니, 사람들이 신발을 신은 채 마른 땅으로 건너간다.

And the Lord shall utterly destroy the tongue of the Egyptian sea; and with his mighty wind shall he shake his hand over the river, and shall smite it in the seven streams, and make men go over dryshod.

그의 남아 있는 백성을 위하여 앗수르에서부터 돌아오는 대로가 있게 하시되 이스라엘이 애굽 땅에서 나오던 날과 같게 하시리라

풀이: 살아남은 그의 백성을 위해 앗수르에서 돌아오는 큰길이 뚫릴 것이다. 옛날 이스라엘이 애굽 땅에서 올라오던 그날처럼.

And there shall be an highway for the remnant of his people, which shall be left, from Assyria; like as it was to Israel in the day that he came up out of the land of Egypt.
