신명기 34장

모세가 모압 평지에서 느보산에 올라 여리고 맞은편 비스가산 꼭대기에 이르매 여호와께서 길르앗 온 땅을 단까지 보이시고

풀이: 모세가 모압 평지를 떠나 느보산에 올랐다. 여리고 맞은편, 비스가 봉우리 꼭대기였다. 거기서 신은 그에게 온 땅을 펼쳐 보였다. 길르앗에서 저 멀리 단까지,

And Moses went up from the plains of Moab unto the mountain of Nebo, to the top of Pisgah, that is over against Jericho. And the Lord shewed him all the land of Gilead, unto Dan,

또 온 납달리와 에브라임과 므낫세의 땅과 서해까지의 유다 온 땅과

풀이: 납달리 전역과 에브라임과 므낫세의 땅, 그리고 서쪽 바다에 닿는 유다의 온 땅까지,

And all Naphtali, and the land of Ephraim, and Manasseh, and all the land of Judah, unto the utmost sea,

남방과 종려의 성읍 여리고 골짜기 평지를 소알까지 보이시고

풀이: 남쪽 네게브와, 종려나무의 성읍 여리고가 있는 골짜기 평원을 소알에 이르기까지 — 한눈에 보여 주었다.

And the south, and the plain of the valley of Jericho, the city of palm trees, unto Zoar.

여호와께서 그에게 이르시되 이는 내가 아브라함과 이삭과 야곱에게 맹세하여 그 후손에게 주리라 한 땅이라 내가 네 눈으로 보게 하였거니와 너는 그리로 건너가지 못하리라 하시매

풀이: 그리고 신이 그에게 말했다. "이것이 내가 아브라함과 이삭과 야곱에게 그 후손에게 주겠다고 맹세한 그 땅이다. 네 눈으로 직접 보게 해 주었다. 그러나 너는 저리로 건너가지는 못한다."

And the Lord said unto him, This is the land which I sware unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob, saying, I will give it unto thy seed: I have caused thee to see it with thine eyes, but thou shalt not go over thither.

이에 여호와의 종 모세가 여호와의 말씀대로 모압 땅에서 죽어

풀이: 그리하여 신의 종 모세가, 신이 말한 그대로 모압 땅에서 죽었다.

So Moses the servant of the Lord died there in the land of Moab, according to the word of the Lord.

벧브올 맞은편 모압 땅에 있는 골짜기에 장사되었고 오늘까지 그 묘를 아는 자 없으니라

풀이: 그리고 모압 땅, 벧브올 맞은편 골짜기에 그를 묻었다. 그러나 오늘날까지 그 무덤이 어디인지 아는 사람이 아무도 없다.

And he buried him in a valley in the land of Moab, over against Beth–peor: but no man knoweth of his sepulchre unto this day.

모세의 죽을 때 나이 일백 이십세나 그 눈이 흐리지 아니하였고 기력이 쇠하지 아니하였더라

풀이: 모세가 죽을 때 나이가 120살이었다. 그런데도 그의 눈은 흐려지지 않았고, 기력도 꺾이지 않았다.

And Moses was an hundred and twenty years old when he died: his eye was not dim, nor his natural force abated.

이스라엘 자손이 모압 평지에서 애곡하는 기한이 맟도록 모세를 위하여 삼십일을 애곡하니라

풀이: 이스라엘 백성은 모압 평지에서 모세를 위해 30일 동안 곡했다. 그렇게 모세를 애도하며 우는 날이 다 채워졌다.

And the children of Israel wept for Moses in the plains of Moab thirty days: so the days of weeping and mourning for Moses were ended.

모세가 눈의 아들 여호수아에게 안수하였으므로 그에게 지혜의 신이 충만하니 이스라엘 자손이 여호와께서 모세에게 명하신대로 여호수아의 말을 순종하였더라

풀이: 모세가 눈의 아들 여호수아에게 손을 얹었으므로, 여호수아에게는 지혜의 영이 가득했다. 이스라엘 백성은 신이 모세에게 명한 그대로 여호수아의 말을 따랐다.

And Joshua the son of Nun was full of the spirit of wisdom; for Moses had laid his hands upon him: and the children of Israel hearkened unto him, and did as the Lord commanded Moses.

그 후에는 이스라엘에 모세와 같은 선지자가 일어나지 못하였나니 모세는 여호와께서 대면하여 아시던 자요

풀이: 그 뒤로 이스라엘에는 모세 같은 선지자가 다시는 나오지 않았다. 신이 얼굴을 마주하고 알던 사람은 그뿐이었다.

And there arose not a prophet since in Israel like unto Moses, whom the Lord knew face to face,

여호와께서 그를 애굽 땅에 보내사 바로와 그 모든 신하와 그 온 땅에 모든 이적과 기사와

풀이: 신은 그를 이집트 땅으로 보내, 파라오와 그 모든 신하와 그 온 땅 앞에서 온갖 표적과 기적을 행하게 했다.

In all the signs and the wonders, which the Lord sent him to do in the land of Egypt to Pharaoh, and to all his servants, and to all his land,

모든 큰 권능과 위엄을 행하게 하시매 온 이스라엘 목전에서 그것을 행한 자더라

풀이: 그 강한 손, 그 두려운 위엄 — 모세는 온 이스라엘이 지켜보는 앞에서 그 모든 것을 해낸 사람이었다.

And in all that mighty hand, and in all the great terror which Moses shewed in the sight of all Israel.
