열왕기하 25장

시드기야 구년 시월 십일에 바벨론 왕 느부갓네살이 그 모든 군대를 거느리고 예루살렘을 치러 올라와서 진을 치고 사면으로 토성을 쌓으매

풀이: 시드기야가 다스린 지 9년째 되던 해 열째 달 10일, 바벨론 왕 느부갓네살이 온 군대를 이끌고 예루살렘으로 쳐들어왔다. 그는 성을 마주하고 진을 친 뒤, 사방으로 성을 둘러싸며 흙으로 공성용 둑을 쌓아 올렸다.

And it came to pass in the ninth year of his reign, in the tenth month, in the tenth day of the month, that Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came, he, and all his host, against Jerusalem, and pitched against it; and they built forts against it round about.

성이 시드기야왕 십 일년까지 에워싸였더니

풀이: 그렇게 도성은 시드기야 11년째까지 포위된 채 버텼다.

And the city was besieged unto the eleventh year of king Zedekiah.

그 사월 구일에 성중에 기근이 심하여 그 땅 백성의 양식이 진하였고

풀이: 그해 넷째 달 아흐렛날, 성안에는 굶주림이 극에 달했다. 백성에게 먹을 양식이 한 톨도 남지 않았다.

And on the ninth day of the fourth month the famine prevailed in the city, and there was no bread for the people of the land.

갈대아 사람이 그 성읍을 에워쌌으므로 성벽에 구멍을 뚫은지라 모든 군사가 밤중에 두 성벽 사이 왕의 동산 곁문 길로 도망하여 아라바 길로 가더니

풀이: 마침내 성벽이 뚫렸다. 그러자 모든 군사가 한밤중에, 왕의 정원 곁에 있는 두 성벽 사이 샛문 길로 빠져나가 도망쳤다. 갈대아 군대가 성을 빙 둘러싸고 있었지만, 그들은 아라바 쪽 들판 길로 내달렸다.

And the city was broken up, and all the men of war fled by night by the way of the gate between two walls, which is by the king’s garden: (now the Chaldees were against the city round about:) and the king went the way toward the plain.

갈대아 군사가 왕을 쫓아가서 여리고 평지에 미치매 왕의 모든 군사가 저를 떠나 흩어진지라

풀이: 갈대아 군대가 왕을 뒤쫓아 여리고 평지에서 따라잡았다. 그 무렵 왕의 군사들은 이미 그를 버리고 뿔뿔이 흩어진 뒤였다.

And the army of the Chaldees pursued after the king, and overtook him in the plains of Jericho: and all his army were scattered from him.

갈대아 군사가 왕을 잡아 립나 바벨론 왕에게로 끌고 가매 저에게 신문하고

풀이: 그들은 왕을 사로잡아 립나에 있는 바벨론 왕에게로 끌고 갔고, 거기서 그에게 죄를 선고했다.

So they took the king, and brought him up to the king of Babylon to Riblah; and they gave judgment upon him.

시드기야의 아들들을 저의 목전에서 죽이고 시드기야의 두 눈을 빼고 사슬로 결박하여 바벨론으로 끌어갔더라

풀이: 그들은 시드기야가 보는 앞에서 그의 아들들을 죽였다. 그러고는 시드기야의 두 눈을 뽑아 버리고, 청동 사슬로 묶어 바벨론으로 끌고 갔다.

And they slew the sons of Zedekiah before his eyes, and put out the eyes of Zedekiah, and bound him with fetters of brass, and carried him to Babylon.

바벨론 왕 느부갓네살의 십 구년 오월 칠일에 바벨론 왕의 신하 시위대 장관 느부사라단이 예루살렘에 이르러

풀이: 바벨론 왕 느부갓네살 19년째 되던 해 다섯째 달 이렛날, 바벨론 왕의 신하이자 친위대장인 느부사라단이 예루살렘에 들이닥쳤다.

And in the fifth month, on the seventh day of the month, which is the nineteenth year of king Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, came Nebuzar–adan, captain of the guard, a servant of the king of Babylon, unto Jerusalem:

여호와의 전과 왕궁을 사르고 예루살렘의 모든 집을 귀인의 집까지 불살랐으며

풀이: 그는 신의 성전과 왕궁을 불사르고, 예루살렘의 모든 집을, 권세 있는 자의 저택까지 남김없이 태웠다.

And he burnt the house of the Lord, and the king’s house, and all the houses of Jerusalem, and every great man’s house burnt he with fire.

시위대 장관을 좇는 갈대아 온 군대가 예루살렘 사면 성벽을 헐었으며

풀이: 친위대장을 따르던 갈대아 군대 전체가 예루살렘을 둘러싼 성벽을 모조리 헐어 버렸다.

And all the army of the Chaldees, that were with the captain of the guard, brake down the walls of Jerusalem round about.

성중에 남아 있는 백성과 바벨론 왕에게 항복한 자와 무리의 남은 자는 시위대 장관 느부사라단이 다 사로잡아가고

풀이: 성안에 남아 있던 백성과, 미리 바벨론 왕에게 투항했던 자들과, 그 밖에 남은 무리까지 친위대장 느부사라단이 모두 사로잡아 끌고 갔다.

Now the rest of the people that were left in the city, and the fugitives that fell away to the king of Babylon, with the remnant of the multitude, did Nebuzar–adan the captain of the guard carry away.

빈천한 국민을 그 땅에 남겨두어 포도원을 다스리는 자와 농부가 되게 하였더라

풀이: 다만 친위대장은 그 땅의 가장 가난한 사람들만은 남겨 두어, 포도밭을 가꾸고 밭을 일구는 자로 삼았다.

But the captain of the guard left of the poor of the land to be vinedressers and husbandmen.

갈대아 사람이 또 여호와의 전의 두 놋기둥과 받침들과 여호와의 전의 놋바다를 깨뜨려 그 놋을 바벨론으로 가져가고

풀이: 갈대아 사람들은 또 신의 성전에 있던 두 청동 기둥과 받침대들, 그리고 '청동 바다'라 불리던 거대한 물통을 깨부수어, 그 청동을 바벨론으로 실어 갔다.

And the pillars of brass that were in the house of the Lord, and the bases, and the brasen sea that was in the house of the Lord, did the Chaldees break in pieces, and carried the brass of them to Babylon.

또 가마들과 부삽들과 불집게들과 숟가락들과 섬길 때에 쓰는 모든 놋그릇을 다 가져 갔으며

풀이: 냄비와 부삽, 심지 가위와 접시, 그리고 제사를 드릴 때 쓰던 온갖 청동 그릇까지 죄다 가져갔다.

And the pots, and the shovels, and the snuffers, and the spoons, and all the vessels of brass wherewith they ministered, took they away.

시위대 장관이 또 불 옮기는 그릇들과 주발들 곧 금물의 금과 은물의 은을 가져갔으며

풀이: 또 친위대장은 향로와 대접들, 곧 순금으로 만든 것은 금대로, 순은으로 만든 것은 은대로 모조리 챙겨 갔다.

And the firepans, and the bowls, and such things as were of gold, in gold, and of silver, in silver, the captain of the guard took away.

또 솔로몬이 여호와의 전을 위하여 만든 두 기둥과 한 바다와 받침들을 취하였는데 이 모든 기구의 놋 중수를 헤아릴 수 없었으니

풀이: 솔로몬이 신의 성전을 위해 만든 두 기둥과 '바다' 하나와 받침대들 — 이 모든 기물에 들어간 청동은 무게를 잴 수조차 없을 만큼 많았다.

The two pillars, one sea, and the bases which Solomon had made for the house of the Lord; the brass of all these vessels was without weight.

그 한 기둥은 고가 십 팔 규빗이요 그 꼭대기에 놋머리가 있어 고가 삼 규빗이요 그 머리에 둘린 그물과 석류가 다 놋이라 다른 기둥의 장식과 그물도 이와 같았더라

풀이: 기둥 하나는 높이가 18규빗이었고, 그 꼭대기에 청동 머리 장식이 얹혀 있었는데 그 높이가 3규빗이었다. 머리 장식을 빙 두른 그물 모양 장식과 석류 모양 장식도 모두 청동이었다. 다른 기둥도 그물 장식까지 똑같았다.

The height of the one pillar was eighteen cubits, and the chapiter upon it was brass: and the height of the chapiter three cubits; and the wreathen work, and pomegranates upon the chapiter round about, all of brass: and like unto these had the second pillar with wreathen work.

시위대 장관이 대제사장 스라야와 부제사장 스바냐와 전 문지기 세 사람을 잡고

풀이: 친위대장은 대제사장 스라야와 그 아래 제사장 스바냐, 그리고 성전 문지기 세 사람을 붙잡았다.

And the captain of the guard took Seraiah the chief priest, and Zephaniah the second priest, and the three keepers of the door:

또 성중에서 사람을 잡았으니 곧 군사를 거느린 내시 하나와 또 성중에서 만난바 왕의 시종 다섯 사람과 국민을 초모하는 장관의 서기관 하나와 성중에서 만난바 국민 육십명이라

풀이: 또 성안에서 사람들을 붙잡았다. 군대를 지휘하던 내시 한 명, 왕을 가까이서 모시다 성안에 남아 있던 다섯 사람, 백성을 징집하던 군사령관의 서기관 한 명, 그리고 성안에서 발견된 백성 60명이었다.

And out of the city he took an officer that was set over the men of war, and five men of them that were in the king’s presence, which were found in the city, and the principal scribe of the host, which mustered the people of the land, and threescore men of the people of the land that were found in the city:

시위대 장관 느부사라단이 저희를 잡아가지고 립나 바벨론 왕에게 나아가매

풀이: 친위대장 느부사라단은 이들을 붙잡아 립나에 있는 바벨론 왕에게로 끌고 갔다.

And Nebuzar–adan captain of the guard took these, and brought them to the king of Babylon to Riblah:

바벨론 왕이 하맛 땅 립나에서 다 쳐 죽였더라 이와 같이 유다가 사로잡혀 본토에서 떠났더라

풀이: 바벨론 왕은 하맛 땅 립나에서 그들을 모조리 쳐 죽였다. 이렇게 유다는 제 땅에서 뽑혀 포로로 끌려갔다.

And the king of Babylon smote them, and slew them at Riblah in the land of Hamath. So Judah was carried away out of their land.

유다 땅에 머물러 있는 백성은 곧 바벨론 왕 느부갓네살이 남긴 자라 왕이 사반의 손자 아히감의 아들 그달리야로 관할하게 하였더라

풀이: 바벨론 왕 느부갓네살은 유다 땅에 일부 백성을 남겨 두었다. 그리고 사반의 손자이자 아히감의 아들인 그달리야를 세워 그들을 다스리게 했다.

And as for the people that remained in the land of Judah, whom Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon had left, even over them he made Gedaliah the son of Ahikam, the son of Shaphan, ruler.

모든 군대 장관과 그 좇는 자가 바벨론 왕이 그달리야로 방백을 삼았다 함을 듣고 이에 느다니야의 아들 이스마엘과 가레아의 아들 요하난과 느도바 사람 단후멧의 아들 스라야와 마아가 사람의 아들 야아사니야와 그 좇는 사람이 모두 미스바로 가서 그달리야에게 나아가매

풀이: 흩어져 있던 군 지휘관들과 그들의 부하들은 바벨론 왕이 그달리야를 총독으로 세웠다는 소식을 들었다. 그러자 느다니야의 아들 이스마엘, 가레아의 아들 요하난, 느도바 사람 단후멧의 아들 스라야, 마아가 사람의 아들 야아사니야가 저마다 부하들을 이끌고 미스바로 그달리야를 찾아왔다.

And when all the captains of the armies, they and their men, heard that the king of Babylon had made Gedaliah governor, there came to Gedaliah to Mizpah, even Ishmael the son of Nethaniah, and Johanan the son of Careah, and Seraiah the son of Tanhumeth the Netophathite, and Jaazaniah the son of a Maachathite, they and their men.

그달리야가 저희와 그 좇는 자들에게 맹세하여 이르되 너희는 갈대아 신복을 인하여 두려워 말고 이 땅에 거하여 바벨론 왕을 섬기라 그리하면 너희가 평안하리라 하니라

풀이: 그달리야는 그들과 그 부하들에게 맹세하며 말했다. "갈대아 관리들을 두려워하지 마라. 이 땅에 머물러 바벨론 왕을 섬겨라. 그러면 너희가 무사할 것이다."

And Gedaliah sware to them, and to their men, and said unto them, Fear not to be the servants of the Chaldees: dwell in the land, and serve the king of Babylon; and it shall be well with you.

칠월에 왕족 엘리사마의 손자 느다니야의 아들 이스마엘이 십인을 거느리고 와서 그달리야를 쳐서 죽이고 또 저와 함께 미스바에 있는 유다 사람과 갈대아 사람을 죽인지라

풀이: 그러나 일곱째 달, 왕족 엘리사마의 손자이자 느다니야의 아들인 이스마엘이 부하 열 명을 이끌고 와서 그달리야를 쳐 죽였다. 그와 함께 미스바에 있던 유다 사람들과 갈대아 사람들까지 모두 죽였다.

But it came to pass in the seventh month, that Ishmael the son of Nethaniah, the son of Elishama, of the seed royal, came, and ten men with him, and smote Gedaliah, that he died, and the Jews and the Chaldees that were with him at Mizpah.

대소 백성과 군대 장관들이 다 일어나서 애굽으로 갔으니 이는 갈대아 사람을 두려워함이었더라

풀이: 그러자 낮은 자부터 높은 자까지 온 백성이 군 지휘관들과 함께 들고일어나 이집트로 떠나 버렸다. 갈대아 사람들의 보복이 두려웠기 때문이다.

And all the people, both small and great, and the captains of the armies, arose, and came to Egypt: for they were afraid of the Chaldees.

유다 왕 여호야긴이 사로잡혀 간지 삼십 칠년 곧 바벨론 왕 에윌므로닥의 즉위한 원년 십 이월 이십 칠일에 유다 왕 여호야긴을 옥에서 내어놓아 그 머리를 들게 하고

풀이: 유다 왕 여호야긴이 포로로 끌려간 지 37년째 되던 해, 곧 바벨론 왕 에윌므로닥이 즉위하던 그해 열두째 달 스무이렛날, 그는 유다 왕 여호야긴을 옥에서 꺼내어 그 머리를 들게 했다.

And it came to pass in the seven and thirtieth year of the captivity of Jehoiachin king of Judah, in the twelfth month, on the seven and twentieth day of the month, that Evil–merodach king of Babylon in the year that he began to reign did lift up the head of Jehoiachin king of Judah out of prison;

선히 말하고 그 위를 바벨론에 저와 함께 있는 모든 왕의 위보다 높이고

풀이: 에윌므로닥은 그에게 다정하게 말을 건넸고, 바벨론에 함께 있던 다른 포로 왕들보다 그의 자리를 더 높여 주었다.

And he spake kindly to him, and set his throne above the throne of the kings that were with him in Babylon;

그 죄수의 의복을 바꾸게 하고 그 일평생에 항상 왕의 앞에서 먹게 하였고

풀이: 여호야긴이 입고 있던 죄수의 옷을 벗기고, 평생토록 늘 왕의 식탁에서 밥을 먹게 했다.

And changed his prison garments: and he did eat bread continually before him all the days of his life.

저의 쓸 것은 날마다 왕에게서 받는 정수가 있어서 종신토록 끊이지 아니하였더라

풀이: 그가 쓸 것은 날마다 왕에게서 받는 일정한 몫이 있어, 죽는 날까지 끊이지 않았다.

And his allowance was a continual allowance given him of the king, a daily rate for every day, all the days of his life.
