열왕기하 24장

여호야김 시대에 바벨론 왕 느부갓네살이 올라오매 여호야김이 삼년을 섬기다가 돌이켜 저를 배반하였더니

풀이: 여호야김이 다스리던 때, 바벨론 왕 느부갓네살이 쳐들어왔다. 여호야김은 3년 동안 그에게 복종하며 조공을 바치다가, 마음을 돌려 반기를 들었다.

In his days Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came up, and Jehoiakim became his servant three years: then he turned and rebelled against him.

여호와께서 그 종 선지자들로 하신 말씀과 같이 갈대아의 부대와 아람의 부대와 모압의 부대와 암몬 자손의 부대를 여호야김에게로 보내어 유다를 쳐 멸하려 하시니

풀이: 그러자 신은 갈대아의 부대와 아람과 모압과 암몬 자손의 부대를 여호야김에게 보내 유다를 치게 했다. 이 땅을 멸하려 하신 것이니, 예언자들을 통해 이미 일러 두신 그대로였다.

And the Lord sent against him bands of the Chaldees, and bands of the Syrians, and bands of the Moabites, and bands of the children of Ammon, and sent them against Judah to destroy it, according to the word of the Lord, which he spake by his servants the prophets.

이 일이 유다에 임함은 곧 여호와의 명하신바로 저희를 자기 앞에서 물리치고자 하심이니 이는 므낫세의 지은 모든 죄로 인함이며

풀이: 이 모든 일이 유다에 닥친 것은 신의 명령에 따른 것이었다. 유다를 그 앞에서 치워 버리려 하신 것이니, 므낫세가 저지른 그 모든 죄 때문이었다.

Surely at the commandment of the Lord came this upon Judah, to remove them out of his sight, for the sins of Manasseh, according to all that he did;

또 저가 무죄한 자의 피를 흘려 그 피로 예루살렘에 가득하게 하였음이라 여호와께서 사하시기를 즐겨하지 아니하시니라

풀이: 또한 그가 무죄한 사람들의 피를 흘려 예루살렘을 그 피로 가득 채웠기 때문이다. 신은 그것만은 끝내 용서하려 하지 않았다.

And also for the innocent blood that he shed: for he filled Jerusalem with innocent blood; which the Lord would not pardon.

여호야김의 남은 사적과 모든 행한 일은 유다 왕 역대지략에 기록되지 아니하였느냐

풀이: 여호야김이 행한 나머지 일들은 유다 왕들의 연대기에 적혀 있지 않은가.

Now the rest of the acts of Jehoiakim, and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?

여호야김이 그 열조와 함께 자매 그 아들 여호야긴이 대신하여 왕이 되니라

풀이: 여호야김이 조상들 곁에 잠들자, 그 아들 여호야긴이 뒤를 이어 왕이 되었다.

So Jehoiakim slept with his fathers: and Jehoiachin his son reigned in his stead.

애굽 왕이 다시는 그 나라에서 나오지 못하였으니 이는 바벨론 왕이 애굽 하수에서부터 유브라데 하수까지 애굽 왕에게 속한 땅을 다 취하였음이더라

풀이: 애굽 왕은 다시는 제 땅 밖으로 군대를 내지 못했다. 바벨론 왕이 애굽 국경의 시내에서부터 유프라테스 강에 이르기까지, 애굽 왕에게 속했던 땅을 모조리 차지해 버렸기 때문이다.

And the king of Egypt came not again any more out of his land: for the king of Babylon had taken from the river of Egypt unto the river Euphrates all that pertained to the king of Egypt.

여호야긴이 위에 나아갈 때에 나이 십 팔 세라 예루살렘에서 석 달을 치리하니라 그 모친의 이름은 느후스다라 예루살렘 엘라단의 딸이더라

풀이: 여호야긴이 왕위에 오를 때 나이가 18세였고, 예루살렘에서 석 달을 다스렸다. 그 어머니의 이름은 느후스다로, 예루살렘 사람 엘라단의 딸이었다.

Jehoiachin was eighteen years old when he began to reign, and he reigned in Jerusalem three months. And his mother’s name was Nehushta, the daughter of Elnathan of Jerusalem.

여호야긴이 그 부친의 모든 행위를 본받아 여호와 보시기에 악을 행하였더라

풀이: 여호야긴은 제 아버지가 한 그대로를 본받아, 신이 보시기에 악한 일을 저질렀다.

And he did that which was evil in the sight of the Lord, according to all that his father had done.

그 때에 바벨론 왕 느부갓네살의 신복들이 예루살렘에 올라와서 그 성을 에워싸니라

풀이: 그 무렵, 바벨론 왕 느부갓네살의 신하들이 예루살렘으로 올라와 성을 에워쌌다.

At that time the servants of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came up against Jerusalem, and the city was besieged.

그 신복들이 에워쌀 때에 바벨론 왕 느부갓네살도 그 성에 이르니

풀이: 신하들이 성을 포위하고 있을 때, 바벨론 왕 느부갓네살도 친히 그 성에 이르렀다.

And Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came against the city, and his servants did besiege it.

유다 왕 여호야긴이 그 모친과 신복과 방백들과 내시들과 함께 바벨론 왕에게 나아가매 왕이 잡으니 때는 바벨론 왕 팔년이라

풀이: 유다 왕 여호야긴은 어머니와 신하들과 대신들과 내시들을 거느리고 바벨론 왕 앞으로 걸어 나가 항복했다. 바벨론 왕은 그를 사로잡았으니, 느부갓네살이 다스린 지 8년째 되는 해였다.

And Jehoiachin the king of Judah went out to the king of Babylon, he, and his mother, and his servants, and his princes, and his officers: and the king of Babylon took him in the eighth year of his reign.

저가 여호와의 전의 모든 보물과 왕궁 보물을 집어내고 또 이스라엘 왕 솔로몬이 만든 것 곧 여호와의 전의 금 기명을 다 훼파하였으니 여호와의 말씀과 같이 되었더라

풀이: 바벨론 왕은 신의 성전에 있던 모든 보물과 왕궁의 보물을 끄집어내고, 이스라엘 왕 솔로몬이 성전에 만들어 둔 금그릇들을 죄다 조각냈다. 신이 미리 말씀하신 그대로였다.

And he carried out thence all the treasures of the house of the Lord, and the treasures of the king’s house, and cut in pieces all the vessels of gold which Solomon king of Israel had made in the temple of the Lord, as the Lord had said.

저가 또 예루살렘의 모든 백성과 모든 방백과 모든 용사 합 일만명과 모든 공장과 대장장이를 사로잡아 가매 빈천한 자 외에는 그 땅에 남은 자가 없었더라

풀이: 그는 예루살렘의 온 백성과 모든 대신과 모든 용사 일만 명, 그리고 모든 장인과 대장장이까지 사로잡아 끌고 갔다. 가장 가난한 사람들 말고는 그 땅에 남은 자가 없었다.

And he carried away all Jerusalem, and all the princes, and all the mighty men of valour, even ten thousand captives, and all the craftsmen and smiths: none remained, save the poorest sort of the people of the land.

저가 여호야긴을 바벨론으로 사로잡아 가고 왕의 모친과 왕의 아내들과 내시와 나라에 권세 있는 자도 예루살렘에서 바벨론으로 사로잡아 가고

풀이: 그는 여호야긴을 바벨론으로 끌고 갔고, 왕의 어머니와 왕의 아내들과 내시들과 그 땅의 권세 있는 자들까지 예루살렘에서 바벨론으로 사로잡아 갔다.

And he carried away Jehoiachin to Babylon, and the king’s mother, and the king’s wives, and his officers, and the mighty of the land, those carried he into captivity from Jerusalem to Babylon.

또 용사 칠천과 공장과 대장장이 일천 곧 다 강장하여 싸움에 능한 자들을 바벨론으로 사로잡아 가고

풀이: 또 용사 7천 명과 장인과 대장장이 1천 명, 곧 하나같이 건장하고 싸움에 능한 자들을 모두 바벨론으로 끌고 갔다.

And all the men of might, even seven thousand, and craftsmen and smiths a thousand, all that were strong and apt for war, even them the king of Babylon brought captive to Babylon.

바벨론 왕이 또 여호야긴의 아자비 맛다니야로 대신하여 왕을 삼고 그 이름을 고쳐 시드기야라 하였더라

풀이: 바벨론 왕은 여호야긴의 삼촌 맛다니야를 대신 왕으로 세우고, 그 이름을 시드기야로 바꿔 버렸다.

And the king of Babylon made Mattaniah his father’s brother king in his stead, and changed his name to Zedekiah.

시드기야가 위에 나아갈 때에 나이 이십 일세라 예루살렘에서 십 일년을 치리하니라 그 모친의 이름은 하무달이라 립나 예레먀의 딸이더라

풀이: 시드기야가 왕위에 오를 때 나이가 21세였고, 예루살렘에서 11년을 다스렸다. 그 어머니의 이름은 하무달로, 립나 사람 예레미야의 딸이었다.

Zedekiah was twenty and one years old when he began to reign, and he reigned eleven years in Jerusalem. And his mother’s name was Hamutal, the daughter of Jeremiah of Libnah.

시드기야가 여호야김의 모든 행위를 본받아 여호와 보시기에 악을 행한지라

풀이: 시드기야는 여호야김이 한 그대로를 본받아, 신이 보시기에 악한 일을 저질렀다.

And he did that which was evil in the sight of the Lord, according to all that Jehoiakim had done.

여호와께서 예루살렘과 유다를 진노하심이 저희를 그 앞에서 쫓아내실 때까지 이르렀더라. 시드기야가 바벨론 왕을 배반하니라

풀이: 신이 예루살렘과 유다에 진노하여 마침내 그들을 자기 앞에서 내쫓을 때까지 일이 이렇게 흘러갔다. 그리고 시드기야는 바벨론 왕에게 반기를 들었다.

For through the anger of the Lord it came to pass in Jerusalem and Judah, until he had cast them out from his presence, that Zedekiah rebelled against the king of Babylon.
