예레미야 24장

바벨론 왕 느부갓네살이 유다 왕 여호야김의 아들 여고냐와 유다 방백들과 목공들과 철공들을 예루살렘에서 바벨론으로 옮긴 후에 여호와께서 여호와의 전 앞에 놓인 무화과 두 광주리로 내게 보이셨는데

풀이: 바빌론 왕 느부갓네살이 유다 왕 여호야김의 아들 여고냐와 유다의 고관들, 그리고 목수와 대장장이 같은 기술자들을 예루살렘에서 바빌론으로 끌고 간 뒤였다. 그때 신이 내게 한 광경을 보여주었다. 보니, 신의 성전 앞에 무화과 두 광주리가 놓여 있었다.

The Lord shewed me, and, behold, two baskets of figs were set before the temple of the Lord, after that Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon had carried away captive Jeconiah the son of Jehoiakim king of Judah, and the princes of Judah, with the carpenters and smiths, from Jerusalem, and had brought them to Babylon.

한 광주리에는 처음 익은듯한 극히 좋은 무화과가 있고 한 광주리에는 악하여 먹을 수 없는 극히 악한 무화과가 있더라

풀이: 한 광주리에는 처음 익은 첫물처럼 더할 나위 없이 좋은 무화과가 담겨 있었고, 다른 광주리에는 너무 썩어서 도저히 먹을 수 없는 무화과가 담겨 있었다.

One basket had very good figs, even like the figs that are first ripe: and the other basket had very naughty figs, which could not be eaten, they were so bad.

여호와께서 내게 이르시되 예레미야야 네가 무엇을 보느냐 내가 대답하되 무화과이온데 그 좋은 무화과는 극히 좋고 그 악한 것은 극히 악하여 먹을 수 없게 악하니이다

풀이: 신이 내게 물었다. "예레미야야, 무엇이 보이느냐?" 내가 대답했다. "무화과입니다. 좋은 것은 더없이 좋고, 나쁜 것은 너무 썩어 먹을 수가 없습니다."

Then said the Lord unto me, What seest thou, Jeremiah? And I said, Figs; the good figs, very good; and the evil, very evil, that cannot be eaten, they are so evil.

여호와의 말씀이 또 내게 임하니라 가라사대

풀이: 그러자 신의 말씀이 다시 내게 내려왔다.

Again the word of the Lord came unto me, saying,

이스라엘의 하나님 여호와가 이같이 말하노라 내가 이곳에서 옮겨 갈대아인의 땅에 이르게 한 유다 포로를 이 좋은 무화과 같이 보아 좋게 할 것이라

풀이: "이스라엘의 신이 이렇게 말한다. 내가 이곳에서 갈대아 사람들의 땅으로 보낸 유다의 포로들 — 나는 그들을 저 좋은 무화과처럼 좋게 여기겠다."

Thus saith the Lord, the God of Israel; Like these good figs, so will I acknowledge them that are carried away captive of Judah, whom I have sent out of this place into the land of the Chaldeans for their good.

내가 그들을 돌아보아 좋게 하여 다시 이 땅으로 인도하고 세우고 헐지 아니하며 심고 뽑지 아니하겠고

풀이: "내가 그들을 좋게 보살펴, 다시 이 땅으로 데려오겠다. 그들을 세우되 허물지 않고, 심되 뽑지 않겠다."

For I will set mine eyes upon them for good, and I will bring them again to this land: and I will build them, and not pull them down; and I will plant them, and not pluck them up.

내가 여호와인줄 아는 마음을 그들에게 주어서 그들로 전심으로 내게 돌아오게 하리니 그들은 내 백성이 되겠고 나는 그들의 하나님이 되리라

풀이: "또 내가 곧 신임을 아는 마음을 그들에게 주어, 그들이 온 마음으로 내게 돌아오게 하겠다. 그러면 그들은 내 백성이 되고, 나는 그들의 신이 될 것이다."

And I will give them an heart to know me, that I am the Lord: and they shall be my people, and I will be their God: for they shall return unto me with their whole heart.

나 여호와가 이같이 말하노라 내가 유다 왕 시드기야와 그 방백들과 예루살렘의 남은 자로서 이 땅에 남아 있는 자와 애굽 땅에 거하는 자들을 이 악하여 먹을 수 없는 악한 무화과 같이 버리되

풀이: "그러나 저 먹을 수 없는 썩은 무화과는 다르다. 신이 이렇게 말한다. 나는 유다 왕 시드기야와 그 고관들, 예루살렘에 남은 자들, 그리고 이집트 땅으로 내려가 사는 자들을 바로 그 썩은 무화과처럼 버리겠다."

And as the evil figs, which cannot be eaten, they are so evil; surely thus saith the Lord, So will I give Zedekiah the king of Judah, and his princes, and the residue of Jerusalem, that remain in this land, and them that dwell in the land of Egypt:

세상 모든 나라 중에 흩어서 그들로 환난을 당하게 할 것이며 또 그들로 내가 쫓아보낼 모든 곳에서 치욕을 당하게 하며 말거리가 되게 하며 조롱과 저주를 받게 할 것이며

풀이: "내가 그들을 세상 모든 나라로 흩어, 가는 곳마다 재앙과 치욕을 당하게 하겠다. 사람들의 입에 오르내리는 이야깃거리가 되고, 비웃음과 저주의 대상이 될 것이다."

And I will deliver them to be removed into all the kingdoms of the earth for their hurt, to be a reproach and a proverb, a taunt and a curse, in all places whither I shall drive them.

내가 칼과 기근과 염병을 그들 중에 보내어 그들로 내가 그들과 그 열조에게 준 땅에서 멸절하기까지 이르게 하리라 하시니라

풀이: "내가 그들에게 칼과 굶주림과 전염병을 보내, 그들이 나와 그 조상들에게 주었던 땅에서 끝내 사라질 때까지 그렇게 하겠다."

And I will send the sword, the famine, and the pestilence, among them, till they be consumed from off the land that I gave unto them and to their fathers.
