마가복음 4장

예수께서 다시 바닷가에서 가르치시니 큰 무리가 모여 들거늘 예수께서 배에 올라 바다에 떠 앉으시고 온 무리는 바다 곁 육지에 있더라

풀이: 예수가 다시 호숫가에서 가르쳤다. 어마어마한 무리가 몰려들자, 예수는 배에 올라 물 위에 떠 앉았고, 사람들은 모두 호숫가 뭍에 모여 있었다.

And he began again to teach by the sea side: and there was gathered unto him a great multitude, so that he entered into a ship, and sat in the sea; and the whole multitude was by the sea on the land.

이에 예수께서 여러가지를 비유로 가르치시니 그 가르치시는 중에 저희에게 이르시되

풀이: 예수는 여러 가지를 비유로 가르쳤다. 그 가르침 가운데 이렇게 말했다.

And he taught them many things by parables, and said unto them in his doctrine,

들으라 씨를 뿌리는 자가 뿌리러 나가서

풀이: "잘 들어라. 한 농부가 씨를 뿌리러 나갔다.

Hearken; Behold, there went out a sower to sow:

뿌릴쌔 더러는 길 가에 떨어지매 새들이 와서 먹어 버렸고

풀이: 씨를 뿌리는데, 더러는 길가에 떨어졌다. 그러자 새들이 와서 쪼아 먹어 버렸다.

And it came to pass, as he sowed, some fell by the way side, and the fowls of the air came and devoured it up.

더러는 흙이 얇은 돌밭에 떨어지매 흙이 깊지 아니하므로 곧 싹이 나오나

풀이: 더러는 흙이 얇은 돌밭에 떨어졌다. 흙이 깊지 않아 곧 싹이 돋았지만,

And some fell on stony ground, where it had not much earth; and immediately it sprang up, because it had no depth of earth:

해가 돋은 후에 타져서 뿌리가 없으므로 말랐고

풀이: 해가 떠오르자 그슬려, 뿌리가 없는 탓에 말라 버렸다.

But when the sun was up, it was scorched; and because it had no root, it withered away.

더러는 가시떨기에 떨어지매 가시가 자라 기운을 막으므로 결실치 못하였고

풀이: 더러는 가시덤불 속에 떨어졌다. 가시가 자라 숨통을 막아 버려, 끝내 열매를 맺지 못했다.

And some fell among thorns, and the thorns grew up, and choked it, and it yielded no fruit.

더러는 좋은 땅에 떨어지매 자라 무성하여 결실하였으니 삼십배와 육십배와 백배가 되었느니라 하시고

풀이: 그러나 더러는 좋은 땅에 떨어졌다. 싹이 나고 무성히 자라 열매를 맺었으니, 서른 배, 예순 배, 백 배가 되었다."

And other fell on good ground, and did yield fruit that sprang up and increased; and brought forth, some thirty, and some sixty, and some an hundred.

또 이르시되 들을 귀 있는 자는 들으라 하시니라

풀이: 그리고 예수가 말했다. "들을 귀가 있는 사람은 들어라."

And he said unto them, He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.

예수께서 홀로 계실 때에 함께한 사람들이 열 두 제자로 더불어 그 비유들을 묻자오니

풀이: 예수가 따로 있을 때, 곁에 있던 사람들이 열두 제자와 함께 그 비유들이 무슨 뜻인지 물었다.

And when he was alone, they that were about him with the twelve asked of him the parable.

이르시되 하나님 나라의 비밀을 너희에게는 주었으나 외인에게는 모든 것을 비유로 하나니

풀이: 예수가 말했다. "신의 나라에 담긴 비밀은 너희에게는 주어졌다. 그러나 바깥에 있는 사람들에게는 모든 것을 비유로만 말한다.

And he said unto them, Unto you it is given to know the mystery of the kingdom of God: but unto them that are without, all these things are done in parables:

이는 저희로 보기는 보아도 알지 못하며 듣기는 들어도 깨닫지 못하게 하여 돌이켜 죄 사함을 얻지 못하게 하려 함이니라 하시고

풀이: 이는 그들이 '보기는 보아도 알아채지 못하고, 듣기는 들어도 깨닫지 못하게' 하려는 것이다. 행여 돌이켜 용서받는 일이 없도록 말이다."

That seeing they may see, and not perceive; and hearing they may hear, and not understand; lest at any time they should be converted, and their sins should be forgiven them.

또 가라사대 너희가 이 비유를 알지 못할찐대 어떻게 모든 비유를 알겠느뇨

풀이: 그리고 예수가 말했다. "너희가 이 비유조차 알지 못한다면, 어떻게 다른 모든 비유를 알겠느냐?

And he said unto them, Know ye not this parable? and how then will ye know all parables?

뿌리는 자는 말씀을 뿌리는 것이라

풀이: 씨 뿌리는 사람은 말씀을 뿌리는 것이다.

The sower soweth the word.

말씀이 길 가에 뿌리웠다는 것은 이들이니 곧 말씀을 들었을 때에 사단이 즉시 와서 저희에게 뿌리운 말씀을 빼앗는 것이요

풀이: 길가에 뿌려진 씨는 이런 사람들이다 — 말씀을 듣자마자 사탄이 곧장 와서 그들 속에 뿌려진 말씀을 채어 가 버린다.

And these are they by the way side, where the word is sown; but when they have heard, Satan cometh immediately, and taketh away the word that was sown in their hearts.

또 이와 같이 돌밭에 뿌리웠다는 것은 이들이니 곧 말씀을 들을 때에 즉시 기쁨으로 받으나

풀이: 돌밭에 뿌려진 씨는 또 이런 사람들이다 — 말씀을 들을 때 곧 기쁘게 받아들이지만,

And these are they likewise which are sown on stony ground; who, when they have heard the word, immediately receive it with gladness;

그 속에 뿌리가 없어 잠간 견디다가 말씀을 인하여 환난이나 핍박이 일어나는 때에는 곧 넘어지는 자요

풀이: 제 속에 뿌리가 없어 잠깐 버티다가, 말씀 때문에 고난이나 박해가 닥치면 곧 걸려 넘어진다.

And have no root in themselves, and so endure but for a time: afterward, when affliction or persecution ariseth for the word’s sake, immediately they are offended.

또 어떤이는 가시떨기에 뿌리우는 자니 이들은 말씀을 듣되

풀이: 가시덤불에 뿌려진 씨는 또 다른 사람들이다 — 말씀을 듣기는 하지만,

And these are they which are sown among thorns; such as hear the word,

세상의 염려와 재리의 유혹과 기타 욕심이 들어와 말씀을 막아 결실치 못하게 되는 자요

풀이: 세상살이 걱정과 재물의 속임수, 그 밖의 온갖 욕심이 비집고 들어와 말씀을 막아, 열매를 맺지 못하게 한다.

And the cares of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the lusts of other things entering in, choke the word, and it becometh unfruitful.

좋은 땅에 뿌리웠다는 것은 곧 말씀을 듣고 받아 삼십배와 육십배와 백배의 결실을 하는 자니라

풀이: 좋은 땅에 뿌려진 씨는 곧 말씀을 듣고 받아들여 열매를 맺는 사람들이니, 서른 배, 예순 배, 백 배를 거둔다."

And these are they which are sown on good ground; such as hear the word, and receive it, and bring forth fruit, some thirtyfold, some sixty, and some an hundred.

또 저희에게 이르시되 사람이 등불을 가져오는 것은 말 아래나 평상 아래나 두려 함이냐 등경 위에 두려 함이 아니냐

풀이: 그리고 예수가 말했다. "등불을 가져다 됫박 아래나 침상 밑에 두려는 사람이 있느냐? 등잔대 위에 올려놓으려는 것이 아니냐?

And he said unto them, Is a candle brought to be put under a bushel, or under a bed? and not to be set on a candlestick?

드러내려 하지 않고는 숨긴 것이 없고 나타내려 하지 않고는 감추인 것이 없느니라

풀이: 감추어진 것은 드러나게 마련이고, 덮어 둔 것은 끝내 환히 나타나게 마련이다.

For there is nothing hid, which shall not be manifested; neither was any thing kept secret, but that it should come abroad.

들을 귀 있는 자는 들으라

풀이: 들을 귀가 있는 사람은 들어라."

If any man have ears to hear, let him hear.

또 가라사대 너희가 무엇을 듣는가 스스로 삼가라 너희의 헤아리는 그 헤아림으로 너희가 헤아림을 받을 것이요 또 더 받으리니

풀이: 그리고 예수가 말했다. "너희가 무엇을 듣는지 잘 살펴라. 너희가 되질하는 그 됫박으로 너희도 되질을 받을 것이고, 거기에 더 보태어 받을 것이다.

And he said unto them, Take heed what ye hear: with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you: and unto you that hear shall more be given.

있는 자는 받을 것이요 없는 자는 그 있는 것까지 빼앗기리라

풀이: 가진 사람은 더 받을 것이고, 갖지 못한 사람은 가진 것마저 빼앗길 것이다."

For he that hath, to him shall be given: and he that hath not, from him shall be taken even that which he hath.

또 가라사대 하나님의 나라는 사람이 씨를 땅에 뿌림과 같으니

풀이: 그리고 예수가 말했다. "신의 나라는 이런 것이다. 어떤 사람이 땅에 씨를 뿌려 놓고는,

And he said, So is the kingdom of God, as if a man should cast seed into the ground;

저가 밤낮 자고 깨고 하는 중에 씨가 나서 자라되 그 어떻게 된 것을 알지 못하느니라

풀이: 밤이고 낮이고 자고 일어나고 하는 사이에, 씨가 싹터 자라는데 — 정작 그 자신은 어떻게 그리되는지 알지 못한다.

And should sleep, and rise night and day, and the seed should spring and grow up, he knoweth not how.

땅이 스스로 열매를 맺되 처음에는 싹이요 다음에는 이삭이요 그 다음에는 이삭에 충실한 곡식이라

풀이: 땅이 저절로 열매를 맺는 것이다. 처음에는 싹, 다음에는 이삭, 그다음에는 이삭에 꽉 찬 알곡이다.

For the earth bringeth forth fruit of herself; first the blade, then the ear, after that the full corn in the ear.

열매가 익으면 곧 낫을 대나니 이는 추수 때가 이르렀음이니라

풀이: 열매가 익으면 그는 곧 낫을 댄다. 거둘 때가 왔기 때문이다."

But when the fruit is brought forth, immediately he putteth in the sickle, because the harvest is come.

또 가라사대 우리가 하나님의 나라를 어떻게 비하며 또 무슨 비유로 나타낼꼬

풀이: 그리고 예수가 말했다. "신의 나라를 무엇에 견줄까? 어떤 비유로 그려낼까?

And he said, Whereunto shall we liken the kingdom of God? or with what comparison shall we compare it?

겨자씨 한 알과 같으니 땅에 심길 때에는 땅위의 모든 씨보다 작은 것이로되

풀이: 겨자씨 한 알과 같다. 땅에 심을 때는 세상 어떤 씨보다 작지만,

It is like a grain of mustard seed, which, when it is sown in the earth, is less than all the seeds that be in the earth:

심긴 후에는 자라서 모든 나물보다 커지며 큰 가지를 내니 공중의 새들이 그 그늘에 깃들일 만큼 되느니라

풀이: 심고 나면 자라서 어떤 푸성귀보다 커지고, 큰 가지를 뻗어 하늘의 새들이 그 그늘에 깃들 만큼 된다."

But when it is sown, it groweth up, and becometh greater than all herbs, and shooteth out great branches; so that the fowls of the air may lodge under the shadow of it.

예수께서 이러한 많은 비유로 저희가 알아 들을 수 있는대로 말씀을 가르치시되

풀이: 예수는 이렇게 많은 비유로, 사람들이 알아들을 수 있는 만큼 말씀을 가르쳤다.

And with many such parables spake he the word unto them, as they were able to hear it.

비유가 아니면 말씀하지 아니하시고 다만 혼자 계실 때에 그 제자들에게 모든 것을 해석하시더라

풀이: 비유 없이는 말하지 않았고, 다만 따로 있을 때 제자들에게 모든 것을 풀어 설명해 주었다.

But without a parable spake he not unto them: and when they were alone, he expounded all things to his disciples.

그날 저물 때에 제자들에게 이르시되 우리가 저편으로 건너가자 하시니

풀이: 그날 날이 저물자, 예수가 제자들에게 말했다. "호수 저편으로 건너가자."

And the same day, when the even was come, he saith unto them, Let us pass over unto the other side.

저희가 무리를 떠나 예수를 배에 계신 그대로 모시고 가매 다른 배들도 함께 하더니

풀이: 제자들은 무리를 떠나보내고, 예수를 배에 계신 그대로 모시고 갔다. 다른 배들도 함께 따라갔다.

And when they had sent away the multitude, they took him even as he was in the ship. And there were also with him other little ships.

큰 광풍이 일어나며 물결이 부딪혀 배에 들어와 배에 가득하게 되었더라

풀이: 그때 거센 돌풍이 일었다. 물결이 배에 들이쳐 배에 물이 가득 찰 지경이 되었다.

And there arose a great storm of wind, and the waves beat into the ship, so that it was now full.

예수께서는 고물에서 베개를 베시고 주무시더니 제자들이 깨우며 가로되 선생님이여 우리의 죽게 된것을 돌아보지 아니하시나이까 하니

풀이: 그런데 예수는 배 뒤편에서 베개를 베고 자고 있었다. 제자들이 그를 깨우며 말했다. "선생님, 우리가 죽게 됐는데 아무렇지도 않으십니까?"

And he was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow: and they awake him, and say unto him, Master, carest thou not that we perish?

예수께서 깨어 바람을 꾸짖으시며 바다더러 이르시되 잠잠하라 고요하라 하시니 바람이 그치고 아주 잔잔하여지더라

풀이: 예수가 일어나 바람을 꾸짖고 바다에게 말했다. "조용히 하라. 잠잠하라." 그러자 바람이 멎고 아주 잔잔해졌다.

And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.

이에 제자들에게 이르시되 어찌하여 이렇게 무서워하느냐 너희가 어찌 믿음이 없느냐 하시니

풀이: 예수가 제자들에게 말했다. "왜 그렇게 겁을 내느냐? 아직도 믿음이 없느냐?"

And he said unto them, Why are ye so fearful? how is it that ye have no faith?

저희가 심히 두려워하여 서로 말하되 저가 뉘기에 바람과 바다라도 순종하는고 하였더라

풀이: 제자들은 몹시 두려워하며 서로 말했다. "이분이 대체 누구이기에 바람도 바다도 그 말을 듣는단 말인가?"

And they feared exceedingly, and said one to another, What manner of man is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?
