에스라 8장

아닥사스다왕이 위에 있을 때에 나와 함께 바벨론에서 올라온 족장들과 그들의 보계가 이러하니라

풀이: 아닥사스다 왕이 다스리던 시절, 나와 함께 바벨론을 떠나 올라온 가문 어른들과 그 혈통의 명단은 이러하다.

These are now the chief of their fathers, and this is the genealogy of them that went up with me from Babylon, in the reign of Artaxerxes the king.

비느하스 자손 중에서는 게르솜이요 이다말 자손 중에서는 다니엘이요 다윗 자손 중에서는 핫두스요

풀이: 비느하스 가문에서는 게르솜, 이다말 가문에서는 다니엘, 다윗 가문에서는 핫두스.

Of the sons of Phinehas; Gershom: of the sons of Ithamar; Daniel: of the sons of David; Hattush.

스가냐 자손 곧 바로스 자손 중에서는 스가랴니 그와 함께 족보에 기록된 남자가 일백 오십명이요

풀이: 스가냐 가문, 곧 바로스 가문에서는 스가랴. 그와 함께 족보에 오른 남자가 150명이었다.

Of the sons of Shechaniah, of the sons of Pharosh; Zechariah: and with him were reckoned by genealogy of the males an hundred and fifty.

바핫모압 자손 중에서는 스라히야의 아들 엘여호에내니 그와 함께한 남자가 이백명이요

풀이: 바핫모압 가문에서는 스라히야의 아들 엘여호에내. 그와 함께한 남자가 200명.

Of the sons of Pahath–moab; Elihoenai the son of Zerahiah, and with him two hundred males.

스가냐 자손 중에서는 야하시엘의 아들이니 그와 함께한 남자가 삼백명이요

풀이: 스가냐 가문에서는 야하시엘의 아들. 그와 함께한 남자가 300명.

Of the sons of Shechaniah; the son of Jahaziel, and with him three hundred males.

아딘 자손 중에서는 요나단의 아들 에벳이니 그와 함께한 남자가 오십명이요

풀이: 아딘 가문에서는 요나단의 아들 에벳. 그와 함께한 남자가 50명.

Of the sons also of Adin; Ebed the son of Jonathan, and with him fifty males.

엘람 자손 중에서는 아달리야의 아들 여사야니 그와 함께한 남자가 칠십명이요

풀이: 엘람 가문에서는 아달리야의 아들 여사야. 그와 함께한 남자가 70명.

And of the sons of Elam; Jeshaiah the son of Athaliah, and with him seventy males.

스바댜 자손 중에서는 미가엘의 아들 스바댜니 그와 함께한 남자가 팔십명이요

풀이: 스바댜 가문에서는 미가엘의 아들 스바댜. 그와 함께한 남자가 80명.

And of the sons of Shephatiah; Zebadiah the son of Michael, and with him fourscore males.

요압 자손 중에서는 여히엘의 아들 오바댜니 그와 함께한 남자가 이백 십 팔명이요

풀이: 요압 가문에서는 여히엘의 아들 오바댜. 그와 함께한 남자가 218명.

Of the sons of Joab; Obadiah the son of Jehiel, and with him two hundred and eighteen males.

슬로밋 자손 중에서는 요시뱌의 아들이니 그와 함께한 남자가 일백 육십명이요

풀이: 슬로밋 가문에서는 요시뱌의 아들. 그와 함께한 남자가 160명.

And of the sons of Shelomith; the son of Josiphiah, and with him an hundred and threescore males.

베배 자손 중에서는 베배의 아들 스가랴니 그와 함께한 남자가 이십 팔명이요

풀이: 베배 가문에서는 베배의 아들 스가랴. 그와 함께한 남자가 28명.

And of the sons of Bebai; Zechariah the son of Bebai, and with him twenty and eight males.

아스갓 자손 중에서는 학가단의 아들 요하난이니 그와 함께한 남자가 일백 십명이요

풀이: 아스갓 가문에서는 학가단의 아들 요하난. 그와 함께한 남자가 110명.

And of the sons of Azgad; Johanan the son of Hakkatan, and with him an hundred and ten males.

아도니감 자손 중에 나중된 자의 이름은 엘리벨렛과 여우엘과 스마야니 그와 함께한 남자가 육십명이요

풀이: 아도니감 가문에서 뒤늦게 합류한 이들의 이름은 엘리벨렛과 여우엘과 스마야. 그들과 함께한 남자가 60명.

And of the last sons of Adonikam, whose names are these, Eliphelet, Jeiel, and Shemaiah, and with them threescore males.

비그왜 자손 중에서는 우대와 사붓이니 그와 함께한 남자가 칠십명이었느니라

풀이: 비그왜 가문에서는 우대와 사붓. 그들과 함께한 남자가 70명이었다.

Of the sons also of Bigvai; Uthai, and Zabbud, and with them seventy males.

내가 무리를 아하와로 흐르는 강가에 모으고 거기서 삼일 동안 장막에 유하며 백성과 제사장들을 살핀즉 그 중에 레위 자손이 하나도 없는지라

풀이: 나는 사람들을 아하와로 흐르는 강가에 불러 모으고, 거기 천막을 치고 3일을 머물렀다. 그러면서 백성과 제사장들을 하나하나 살펴보니, 그 가운데 레위 사람이 단 한 명도 없었다.

And I gathered them together to the river that runneth to Ahava; and there abode we in tents three days: and I viewed the people, and the priests, and found there none of the sons of Levi.

이에 모든 족장 곧 엘리에셀과 아리엘과 스마야와 엘라단과 야립과 엘라단과 나단과 스가랴와 므술람을 부르고 또 명철한 사람 요야립과 엘라단을 불러

풀이: 그래서 나는 가문 어른들인 엘리에셀, 아리엘, 스마야, 엘라단, 야립, 또 다른 엘라단, 나단, 스가랴, 므술람을 불렀고, 사리에 밝은 요야립과 엘라단도 따로 불렀다.

Then sent I for Eliezer, for Ariel, for Shemaiah, and for Elnathan, and for Jarib, and for Elnathan, and for Nathan, and for Zechariah, and for Meshullam, chief men; also for Joiarib, and for Elnathan, men of understanding.

가시뱌 지방으로 보내어 그곳 족장 잇도에게 나아가게 하고 잇도와 그 형제 곧 가시뱌 지방에 거한 느디님 사람들에게 할 말을 일러주고 우리 하나님의 전을 위하여 수종들 자를 데리고 오라 하였더니

풀이: 그들을 가시뱌 지방의 어른 잇도에게 보내며, 그곳에 사는 잇도와 그 동료들, 곧 성전 막일을 맡은 사람들에게 무어라 말할지 일러 주었다. 우리 신의 성전에서 일할 사람을 데려오게 하려는 것이었다.

And I sent them with commandment unto Iddo the chief at the place Casiphia, and I told them what they should say unto Iddo, and to his brethren the Nethinims, at the place Casiphia, that they should bring unto us ministers for the house of our God.

우리 하나님의 선한 손의 도우심을 입고 저희가 이스라엘의 손자 레위의 아들 말리의 자손 중에서 한 명철한 사람을 데려오고 또 세레뱌와 그 아들들과 형제 십 팔명과

풀이: 우리 신의 너그러운 손길이 우리를 도왔다. 그들은 이스라엘의 손자이자 레위의 아들인 말리의 가문에서 사리에 밝은 한 사람을 데려왔고, 또 세레뱌와 그 아들들과 형제 18명,

And by the good hand of our God upon us they brought us a man of understanding, of the sons of Mahli, the son of Levi, the son of Israel; and Sherebiah, with his sons and his brethren, eighteen;

하사뱌와 므라리 자손 중 여사야와 그 형제와 저의 아들들 이십명을 데려오고

풀이: 하사뱌와, 므라리 가문 출신인 여사야와 그 형제들과 아들들 20명을 데려왔다.

And Hashabiah, and with him Jeshaiah of the sons of Merari, his brethren and their sons, twenty;

또 느디님 사람 곧 다윗과 방백들이 주어 레위 사람에게 수종들게 한 그 느디님 사람 중 이백 이십명을 데려왔으니 그 이름이 다 기록되었느니라

풀이: 또 성전 막일을 맡은 사람들도 데려왔는데, 이들은 옛날 다윗과 신하들이 레위 사람의 시중을 들도록 붙여 준 일꾼들이었다. 그 수가 220명이었고, 이름이 모두 기록되었다.

Also of the Nethinims, whom David and the princes had appointed for the service of the Levites, two hundred and twenty Nethinims: all of them were expressed by name.

때에 내가 아하와강 가에서 금식을 선포하고 우리 하나님 앞에서 스스로 겸비하여 우리와 우리 어린것과 모든 소유를 위하여 평탄한 길을 그에게 간구하였으니

풀이: 그때 나는 아하와 강가에서 금식을 선포했다. 우리 신 앞에서 스스로 낮추고, 우리 자신과 우리 어린것들과 가진 모든 것을 위해 안전한 길을 그분께 간구하려는 것이었다.

Then I proclaimed a fast there, at the river of Ahava, that we might afflict ourselves before our God, to seek of him a right way for us, and for our little ones, and for all our substance.

이는 우리가 전에 왕에게 고하기를 우리 하나님의 손은 자기를 찾는 모든 자에게 선을 베푸시고 자기를 배반하는 모든 자에게는 권능과 진노를 베푸신다 하였으므로 길에서 적군을 막고 우리를 도울 보병과 마병을 왕에게 구하기를 부끄러워 하였음이라

풀이: 사실 나는 길에서 적을 막아 줄 보병과 기병을 왕에게 청하기가 부끄러웠다. 우리가 전에 왕에게 "우리 신의 손은 그분을 찾는 모든 이에게 좋은 것을 베풀지만, 그분을 등지는 자에게는 그 힘과 진노가 미친다"고 말해 둔 터였기 때문이다.

For I was ashamed to require of the king a band of soldiers and horsemen to help us against the enemy in the way: because we had spoken unto the king, saying, The hand of our God is upon all them for good that seek him; but his power and his wrath is against all them that forsake him.

그러므로 우리가 이를 위하여 금식하며 우리 하나님께 간구하였더니 그 응낙하심을 입었느니라

풀이: 그래서 우리는 이 일을 두고 굶으며 우리 신께 빌었고, 그분은 우리의 청을 들어주셨다.

So we fasted and besought our God for this: and he was intreated of us.

그 때에 내가 제사장의 두목 중 십 이인 곧 세레뱌와 하사뱌와 그 형제 십인을 따로 세우고

풀이: 그때 나는 제사장 우두머리 가운데 열둘, 곧 세레뱌와 하사뱌와 그 형제 열 사람을 따로 세웠다.

Then I separated twelve of the chief of the priests, Sherebiah, Hashabiah, and ten of their brethren with them,

저희에게 왕과 모사들과 방백들과 또 그곳에 있는 이스라엘 무리가 우리 하나님의 전을 위하여 드린 은과 금과 기명들을 달아서 주었으니

풀이: 그리고 왕과 그 고문들과 신하들, 그곳에 있던 온 이스라엘이 우리 신의 성전을 위해 바친 은과 금과 기물들을 저울에 달아 그들에게 넘겼다.

And weighed unto them the silver, and the gold, and the vessels, even the offering of the house of our God, which the king, and his counsellors, and his lords, and all Israel there present, had offered:

내가 달아서 저희 손에 준 것은 은이 육백 오십 달란트요 은 기명이 일백 달란트요 금이 일백 달란트며

풀이: 내가 달아서 그들 손에 넘긴 것은 은 650달란트, 은 기물 100달란트, 금 100달란트,

I even weighed unto their hand six hundred and fifty talents of silver, and silver vessels an hundred talents, and of gold an hundred talents;

또 금잔이 이십개라 중수는 일천 다릭이요 또 아름답고 빛나 금 같이 보배로운 놋그릇이 두개라

풀이: 금잔 20개로 무게는 1000다릭이었고, 또 금처럼 값진 윤나는 놋그릇 두 개였다.

Also twenty basons of gold, of a thousand drams; and two vessels of fine copper, precious as gold.

내가 저희에게 이르되 너희는 여호와께 거룩한 자요 이 기명들도 거룩하고 그 은과 금은 너희 열조의 하나님 여호와께 즐거이 드린 예물이니

풀이: 나는 그들에게 일렀다. "너희는 신께 거룩하게 구별된 사람이고, 이 기물들도 거룩하다. 이 은과 금은 너희 조상의 신께 자원하여 바친 예물이다.

And I said unto them, Ye are holy unto the Lord; the vessels are holy also; and the silver and the gold are a freewill offering unto the Lord God of your fathers.

너희는 예루살렘 여호와의 전 골방에 이르러 제사장의 두목들과 레위 사람의 두목들과 이스라엘 족장 앞에서 이 기명을 달기까지 삼가 지키라

풀이: 그러니 예루살렘에 있는 신의 성전 골방에서 제사장 우두머리들과 레위 우두머리들과 이스라엘 가문 어른들 앞에 다시 저울에 달기까지, 잘 지켜 간수하라."

Watch ye, and keep them, until ye weigh them before the chief of the priests and the Levites, and chief of the fathers of Israel, at Jerusalem, in the chambers of the house of the Lord.

이에 제사장들과 레위 사람들이 은과 금과 기명을 예루살렘 우리 하나님의 전으로 가져가려 하여 그 중수대로 받으니라

풀이: 그리하여 제사장들과 레위 사람들은 달아 놓은 무게대로 은과 금과 기물을 받아, 예루살렘에 있는 우리 신의 성전으로 가져가기로 했다.

So took the priests and the Levites the weight of the silver, and the gold, and the vessels, to bring them to Jerusalem unto the house of our God.

정월 십 이일에 우리가 아하와강을 떠나 예루살렘으로 갈쌔 우리 하나님의 손이 우리를 도우사 대적과 길에 매복한 자의 손에서 건지신지라

풀이: 정월 12일, 우리는 아하와 강을 떠나 예루살렘으로 향했다. 우리 신의 손이 우리 위에 있어, 길에서 적과 매복한 자들의 손아귀에서 우리를 건져 주었다.

Then we departed from the river of Ahava on the twelfth day of the first month, to go unto Jerusalem: and the hand of our God was upon us, and he delivered us from the hand of the enemy, and of such as lay in wait by the way.

이에 예루살렘에 이르러 거기서 삼일을 유하고

풀이: 이렇게 우리는 예루살렘에 도착해, 거기서 3일을 쉬었다.

And we came to Jerusalem, and abode there three days.

제 사일에 우리 하나님의 전에서 은과 금과 기명을 달아서 제사장 우리아의 아들 므레못의 손에 붙이니 비느하스의 아들 엘르아살과 레위 사람 예수아의 아들 요사밧과 빈누이의 아들 노아댜가 함께 있어

풀이: 4일째 되는 날, 우리 신의 성전에서 은과 금과 기물을 저울에 달아 제사장 우리아의 아들 므레못의 손에 넘겼다. 그 자리에는 비느하스의 아들 엘르아살이 함께 있었고, 레위 사람인 예수아의 아들 요사밧과 빈누이의 아들 노아댜도 함께 있었다.

Now on the fourth day was the silver and the gold and the vessels weighed in the house of our God by the hand of Meremoth the son of Uriah the priest; and with him was Eleazar the son of Phinehas; and with them was Jozabad the son of Jeshua, and Noadiah the son of Binnui, Levites;

모든 것을 다 계수하고 달아보고 그 중수를 당장에 책에 기록하였느니라

풀이: 모든 것을 낱낱이 세고 무게를 달았으며, 그 무게를 그 자리에서 곧바로 장부에 적어 두었다.

By number and by weight of every one: and all the weight was written at that time.

사로잡혔던 자의 자손 곧 이방에서 돌아온 자들이 이스라엘 하나님께 번제를 드렸는데 이스라엘 전체를 위한 수송아지가 열 둘이요 또 수양이 아흔 여섯이요 어린 양이 일흔 일곱이요 또 속죄제의 수염소가 열 둘이니 모두 여호와께 드린 번제물이라

풀이: 사로잡혀 갔던 이들의 자손, 곧 유배에서 돌아온 이들이 이스라엘의 신께 번제를 드렸다. 온 이스라엘을 위한 수송아지가 열두 마리, 숫양이 아흔여섯 마리, 어린양이 일흔일곱 마리, 그리고 속죄를 위한 숫염소가 열두 마리였다. 이 모두가 신께 바친 번제물이었다.

Also the children of those that had been carried away, which were come out of the captivity, offered burnt offerings unto the God of Israel, twelve bullocks for all Israel, ninety and six rams, seventy and seven lambs, twelve he goats for a sin offering: all this was a burnt offering unto the Lord.

무리가 또 왕의 조서를 왕의 관원과 강 서편 총독들에게 부치매 저희가 백성과 하나님의 전을 도왔느니라

풀이: 그들은 또 왕의 칙서를 왕의 관리들과 강 서편 총독들에게 전했고, 그러자 그들은 백성과 신의 성전을 거들어 주었다.

And they delivered the king’s commissions unto the king’s lieutenants, and to the governors on this side the river: and they furthered the people, and the house of God.
